Whoops. Sorry. Thanks everybody.

Having a ride inspected weekly isn't even a choice on Roller Coaster Tycoon. Why in the world would that be appropriate in real life? Please tell me you're being sarcastic with that remark. All parks (except KK as we're finding out) inspects all their rides each day. Yes, all the coasters have the entire length of track walked and checked. RCT isn't something to infer information on how real parks operate. You should really read the rest of the thread to get more info on KK's situation. Many people want the park to succeed. Its their own actions that warrant worry. They continually do things that set the park up for failure, at the expense of the Commonwealth's taxpayers no less. Government has no business running amusement parks. I was completely joking. I know that RCT isn't really how parks operate. I'm in KY, and haven't been able to make it to KK since the park reopened. I would love to see the park succeed, because I really would like to have a closer theme park. However I've always wondered why the park isn't advertised much in my area. hmm... I'm just about 2 & 1/2 hours east of Louisville in Kentucky and I haven't seen any advertisement at all for KK nothing on news of TV or anything. I thought it was strange too. Living in Kentucky all my life I've never been to KK and I have little desire to do so I more into coasters than flat rides so I don't see much of a draw to KK. On a side note. I want to know who's thought it was a good idea to paint T3 entirely bright red! It almost hurts my eyes to look at it. I think they should have added a secondary color to tone it down some. They could have made it red and black since they are in Louisville. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You took the words right out of my mouth. I've never been to KK either, but they've never had the right ride that made me want to go. I had always rather spent my money on King's Island. To be honest, I felt like for the price and the type of rides at KK-- I could just go to the local county fair. There's a few roller coasters there, but it's not enough for me to want to drive to Louisville for. The bright colors are there to distract you from the fact that they don't really test the rides.

Okay-- here's my idea for a generic movie-- Exploring King's Island through the years Is that a silly idea? Like, you could follow a little character that shows you some of the old rides from the years. Like, I never got to ride rides like Phantom Theatre or Son of Beast, and they could highlight some of the best. I guess they'd have to skip some of the copy written characters like Scooby Doo or Lara Croft, but there's plenty of rides from the past that don't involve a character.

I rode the Eiffel Tower first last trip and it was a little helpful. It made me excited to look over the park. It's never the hill going down that intimidates me, but just the anxiety building up the hill that makes it really intimidating. I screamed so loud the last time I rode The Beast that I got kind of dizzy! Exactly! I know that I like riding rides, but I'm just get so nervous about it for some reason. I noticed once in Disney that if I could just scream and let some of the adrenaline out that I finally felt better. I also have to remember that if I don't really want to ride something, I don't have to. You all will think that's silly-- but especially going to theme parks with my older sister-- I felt like I HAD to ride stuff to make people happy and if I didn't, they'd be mad at me.
-
Does anyone else get them too? I used to have really bad anxiety on roller coasters, and still do to a point-- but if you get the jitters, how do you deal with them? For me, I actually have to start in Planet Snoopy first and ride some smaller stuff just to get that first scream out and I generally feel better. And I ALWAYS get nervous on The Beast for some reason. I just bought my tickets today, so I'm planning on going back to the park next weekend. I'm really excited and ready for it, but I'm sort of nervous for some odd reason. It's like I forget that I like going on roller coasters until I finally get back on one.

Sorry for bumping this topic back up-- but I had to respond! "Hey Mama" by the Black Eyed Peas (It had been playing near The Racer the first time I had went with my sister) "Happy" by Pharrell "Brave" by Sarah Barellis "We Won't Go Home" by the Colourist (I had actually seen them with Panic at the Disco at Bogarts the winter before last and was so happy to see them on the FunTVs)

Has Soak City always been included with your park admission?

I dont think Action Theater has been open the past few times I've been to KI. I googled just for a few minutes last night wondering what was actually occupying it now, and it mentioned a movie about dinosaurs? I'm going to assume it's gone by now? I really hope that the building becomes occupied soon. A new 5D movie would be a great air conditioned addition to the park. There isn't a current attraction in Action Theater right now....one side is occupied by a haunt. I can honestly say, I was not a huge fan at all of how the attraction was after Sponge Bob! I never rode Spongebob, but I really dislike unused space. I'm sure there's got to be a generic movie they could put in it's spot.

welcome to the board!

That's happened to me the last two times I've been to the park on The Beast. I could see them closing the booth the first time because I had went on a big school day, but the last time was at the end of June. Seemed pretty silly to me to have the camera's off.

Really hoping with it's Omni mover system, which has good capacity, they don't change that aspect and keep it as a dark ride. But with it's location and the new movie coming out this fall, I am hoping they make it into a classic dark ride themed to Peanuts. And then get a Voyage tot he Iron Reef style interactive dark ride over where Action Theater was. Would be great to have two dark rides in the park, and only need to have one be interactive so be nice to have one in Planet Snoopy that is a classic omnimover dark ride. Peanuts is one that I think could be done well but on a budget too. They aren't very detailed cartoons so could do pretty basic characters and backgrounds and have it looks true to the art. I love the omnimover system and hope it stays as well. I feel like it really keeps the line moving fairly quickly.

I thought that was in poor taste of the park, and honestly could have been an easy way to save some money. I haven't been in-the-loop on KK, and had wondered if it was the same tower from before. I figured it wouldn't be, but it had crossed my mind. EDIT: I had posted that I felt like the park had too many flat rides, and when I looked at their website again, it didn't look like it was as many as I originally thought. However, I noticed big letters across the top of the website saying that they will be open this weekend.

The only part of Vortex painted recently was the running rails. That was in 2009. Last major repaint was in 2001 the year I was on the crew. All I know is the view of The Vortex from The Beast's queue is really pitiful. Especially the purple support beams, in my opinion. I've never even noticed Adventure Express had paint on it. It always looked like wood to me but I haven't paid too much attention.

Always wondered if it was just me that noticed that.

ugh. They may as well go ahead and play "Highway to the Dangerzone"

Sorry the image is so large, I dunno how to scale it down! Anyways, it's tough to tell. Personally, I think it looks like it's a part of the children's area. The entrance is facing the area, the ride next door is apart of the Peanut theme. I completely agree...it's very inconsistent!

I'm actually from Kentucky, and have never gone to Kentucky Kingdom before in my life. Is it honestly worth it? I had looked at the rides listed on the website, and wasn't too impressed just because I felt there were too many flat rides for my taste. I haven't read the full 155 pages in this topic, but just glancing at the first page and the last page-- it seems like there's been a very negative response to the park. I really would like to see the park succeed. I feel KY really needs a great park, but I always wondered if KY Kingdom was just too close to King's Island and Holiday World to be really successful.

I completely agree. The ride is ALWAYS crowded when I've been there. I never considered it being low capacity until I joined the forum, but it's a great ride for families and coaster lovers. There's a few different spots in the ride where I can picture it being a great photo op.

Whoops, I should have been more clear. I never actually realized there were more than two in that area. Never noticed the other one. I thought he had mentioned something about the Haunt, but I was hoping that I had just misheard him. *sigh* Personally, I think that's an absolute waste of space then. Glad though that they saved the Wizard of Oz coin pushers though! I might have to go check them out next weekend.

Totally agree, the paint is faded badly in a number of places. The whole thing needs some work. I actually like the ride but they need to keep it looking nice. If it's going to be a ride that stays promoted through tee shirts, advertisements, etc... the ride should look nice. It's pretty lazy looking to me when it starts looking lousy and they don't fix it in the off season. I'd much rather come back to the park, see no "new" stuff, but see the rides they currently have being in a nice condition. Also, while we're at it, has anyone noticed if they've fixed the queue line's paint for The Bat? Last season, the stars from when it was still Top Gun were over the little bridge in the queue line. It looked bad to me.

Question... And this may just be me... Does anyone else think that The Vortex needs a little TLC? Last year, when the coaster was actually open, the ride was as loud as The Beast and I noticed how faint the paint was looking.

I noticed in an opening day video that the arcade near The Racers was closed. Has anyone heard what would be done with the building?
