felix
I'm new so i don't know if this has been discussed...but anyways, with the removal of the original stand up coaster "The king Cobra" Do you think that PKI will be adding a new one soon??? I'm not sure of Pki's property lines but from the top of SOB Back towards Top gun and the camp grouns it looks like enough land to build a new and world's tallest stand up coaster that they could name "Brave Heart". What do you think?

UncleHenry
Well at least it isn't King Cobra 2!!! Why would they need to replace King Cobra? Just because we lose a ride doesn't mean we need a new version of it. Sure, I like some stand-ups, but just because we had one doesn't mean we need another one. It's just dumb. Legend Rider
B&M stand ups are excellent! Chang Rocks! it too is a tear jerker! ride up front! i like to staple myself anywhere on it, and hang your head low and just relax all muscles... it forces drooling, it cracks me up! BoddaH1994
Stand up coasters were the trend of the 80s, not unlike how flyers were the trend of the 90s, and the floorless are the trend now. I don't see any real merit in getting another one.
derbeast
When was the last time anyone built a standup? Personally, I hate standup coasters. Why would you want to stand up on a ride that you stood waiting hours for? I think they are very uncomfortable. I just don't get it.

What do you think? where u just born yesterday bc the last stand up coaster was built at Six Flags Over Georgia back in 1999. So i believe that the the stand up era has ended I wish it wasnt though. The Name Brave Heart is ok kinda corny though.
PKD_Freak
im sure pkd's shockwave will be ripped out soon but it is an ok ride and a lil confortable durning the lift lol . shockwave's layout is very crummy and one of the boaringest coasters i've been on. why would pki get a new stand-up. they kinda suck
flightoffear1996
LIke me alot of other people love stand ups. Shockwave isnt going to be taken in in the next 5 years or more. There are other reason besides maintance the ride got taken out.
KIBeast
Personally, I like the Mantis at Cedar Point. Much better than King Kobra. I would like to see a B&M stand-up and all, but there's nothing new you can really do with them. And, from what I understand, you can't go any taller with them either. Not sure which is the tallest. jzarley
Actually, I've always preferred the Togo stand-ups to the B&M's! While lacking the impressive specs of the B&Ms, I was always much more aware of the sensation of "standing" (especially in the first car) in the Togo version. In the B&M, you're so surrounded by the structure of the car and other people around you, I never get the feeling of "standing on the edge" like I used to get on King Cobra. Also, KC stayed pretty smooth right up until its last season. B&M stand-ups seem to get very rough as they age...I won't even ride Mantis or Iron Wolf anymore because the head banging is so bad. (Which, I don't really understand because other B&M designs don't seem to have this problem...Kumba is as smooth today as the day it opened!) flightoffear1996
The tallest stand up is Riddlers Revange it has 7 inversions and is located at SFMM. You can go higher but on stand ups you really have to watch your G's.
familyman
I don’t think we need another standup. A floorless would be kool. Perhaps themed after the Adams Family?
UncleHenry
I've been on Riddler's Revenge, and I loved it. Yes, stand-ups are good rides, but just because we had one doesn't mean we need another one.

harvesterofyoursorrow
Ehrm, B&M standup, No. Maybe PKI could get Vekoma to make a stand-up ride That would be awsome. But It isnt going to happen, We all know it. Personally King Cobra being the only stand up I've been on, they are good. I will probably be going to Kentucky to ride Chang soon. thejoker8388
Personally, I don't like stand-ups. I find them painful and not really that exciting. If PKI were to buy a B&M a stand-up would be my very last choice.
Legend Rider
problem: PKI and B&M do you see the error? Chang, Mantis's Sister Coaster, is at SFKK, it is excellent, the rush is excellent, this is the only ride i will purposefully want myself stapled in on. ha ha i like the support of stapling on Chang, it feels better. swinger6, did you staple yourself? i cant think of any but one ride that i rode and wasnt stapled in. I love playing Coaster-Ride-Operator Tag! the ops at chang were funny, she would play tag and like tag my back and run, she was funny. ha ha we tagged i think 25 different people in an hour that day, our first goal was to ride as much stuff, but tagging was second! FUN TIMES!
KIBeast
I have to disagree about the flyers being a fad in the 90's. There is still so much more you could do with them, but none of the companies are pushing the envelope with these coasters. What I would really like to see at PKI is a hyper(steel) or giga or inverted (like Raptor at CP).
flightoffear1996
You cant have a giga inverted. For one inverted puts much more stress on our bodies and inverted coasters are built for speed but for innovative elemets. Look at Silver Bullet at Knotts no where the fastest inverted but from what I hear it is one of the best.
KIBeast
Ummmm, I said giga or inverted, not giga inverted. But amyway, I would like to see a huge steel coaster installed.
harvesterofyoursorrow
We need another woodie to FIRMLY put ourself out infront for most wooden track in a park. PKI already has that record but we need to keep it! I say a woodie that ISNT somthing "Beast".
The-Snapper
THERE WILL NEVER BE A STAND UP AT PKI ever again! Only because they arnt as popular as they were 10 years ago.

fyrfyter
Somehow, I don't think we will see another stand up. As for the comments regarding flyers being the staple of the 90's and now they are floorless, I think is incorrect. I think the big things you are gonna see now, are flyers, floorless, and 4th dimension coasters. All obviously need the kinks worked out of them, but I am still pretty sure, we will see more flyers, more floorless, and more 4th dimensions, in the next 10 years. Vortex
I have to disagree about the flyers being a fad in the 90's. There is still so much more you could do with them, but none of the companies are pushing the envelope with these coasters. PKI already had a Flyer in the 90's and sold it to Six Flags Ohio at the time. So we could have had a Flyer where IJSC is today. The ride was never put in Kings Island but was made for Kings Island. The ride goes by Bat Flight.
KIBeast
"and how would you theme that coaster?" (referring to Addams Family Coaster) It would be themed exactly as in the description in the Paramount Survey a few months back. Maybe someone else on here still has that link or there may be an old topic somewhere in the forums about it. I do remember, Vortex, that PKI was supposed to get one of the Vekoma Flyers. Are you sure aobut the name? That would have been cool to use The Bat name on a flying coaster. Now it's called X Flight. How boring can you get? Well, I guess just plain X is worse. Jasper
A new stand up coaster would be O.K. But if it was another boring layout i would rather put something else there like a floorless coaster. But if it was a record breaker like Chang and Riddler's Revenge then that would be awesome.
