  1. The HB licensor is now Time Warner, long time exclusive licensor to Six Flags, so that is decidedly unlikely. Kentucky Kingdom had three wooden coasters. And that deal with Bluegrass Boardwalk may well be contingent on financing. This opera is far from over. In fact, the Rubenesque lady has not even arisen to warble yet. Last I heard, she'd not even located her sheet music. Terp, the ONE and ONLY...Accept no imitations.

  2. http://www.latimes.c...0,2643870.story It will be intresting to see if Mr. Ouimet will start a re-birth of the "coaster wars".

  3. I noticed that the "Something fun..." slogan appears to be in the same font as the old Kings Island logo...is it a common/normal font? I thought it was odd that the artist chose to accentuate that Scooby was a costumed character and not the "real" Scooby running around. (I also like seeing Dick Van Dyke on this brochure...it is one of the few things that my hometown has produced that is good.) I can't say as I like the outside of The Kings Island Inn better than it looks today. "Kings Island's Screamin' Demon- a super fast coaster that shoots you through a loop completely UPSIDE DOWN..." NO! Not upside down...that can't be possible! The lion in the tree is a cute photo. Fred & Barney had better talk to their doctors about the medication that they are on...it appears that they are retaining too much water. "Listen to a life-like Knute Rockne urging his players to "Win one for The Gipper"...that reminds me of what my grandparents & parents considered a compliment after coming home from a funeral, they would always say "Didn't he/she look so life-like". I saw The Rolling Stones from the 11th row in that stadium! (It's only Rock N' Roll...but I like it!)

  4. 3-7-2012: August 25th 2009 a Tuesday, one of my best and greatest birthday’s ever I would be 32 years of age, and yes enjoyed every minute of the day at the Mid-West Sensational, Super, Duper, Wonderful Park that is Kings Island in Mason Ohio south of Dayton north of Cincinnati. My incredible teammates from a 13 year career at a large airline that came to an end in March of the same year decided to throw a great day for me at Kings Island followed by an incredible dinner at Max and Erma’s in Kenwood south of the big park. The day was great, spent with Amber, Grisel, Dutle, a Moxley and two pilot friends. The day was just some adult fun, incredible amazing wonderful assortment of ride’s, probably the best Larosas pizza out of all the places to get the one of kind Cincinnati Pizza of course no one knows why Kings Island Larosas is the best either. We hit Boomerang Bay, the new Diamondback, The Beast, we had a whole day to ride, laugh, talk, eat some munchies, take in rays at one of the best seasonal parks in the whole nation in the grand land we call the United States of America. Really I think we rode the Scooby doo and the haunted castle just to see who could get the top score. We rode and rode, and memories were made for my own birthday, but some of us still each other and or stay in touch even recommending one another for jobs, and checking in on kids, and family members. What better way to take in a birthday but at Kings Island the great park , to live like there was no tomorrow. This birthday will always be with me, as a great day. Of course Kings Island this was one memory, I’ve been there with family, friends, girlfriends, my lovely rollercoaster partner of life SWEETPEA my wife , my own boys have taken in the park on many occasions even one year being Cedar Fair VIP’S even sporting the black jackets that came with our season passes. Many hours, days, water park trips, thrills, chills, WINTER FEST, Haunt Nights, and the list goes on. Of course this is the story of a thrill seeker, a Dad, Friend, Love Kings Island, but the whole Amusement industry across the globe. Memories of your first Coaster, your first FERRIS WHEEL, the first shouts on a PIRATE SHIP, eating some blue ice cream, taking in the day like there is no tomorrow. Luckily for my own memories this Birthday a few years ago will never be forgotten, to many more memories at Kings Island, the great Cedar Fair chain, even Disney oh my. What is around the next corner is anybody’s guess, today is the present making the most of it building friendships, bonds, and those ever precious memories. To many more happy years at Kings Island, who knows what the Park will look like in the next 40 years. Happy Birthday in 2009 to my own great day brought to you by the letter F for friendship. To a big 40th to a world class one of a kind park Kings Island. WESTCOASTER

  5. Heh, Marge Schott.... Is it just me, or does anyone hear her name, and just think of her picture with a smoke and a St. Bernard?

  8. When the initial test runs began The Beast had four cars per train but the ride opened with the trains consisting of five 4-bench cars, which was the capacity advertised in press releases announcing the ride and on 1979 ride fact sheets.

  9. Worth noting in the Monster photo are The Racer trains, which featured four cars per train when the ride originally opened in 1972. Due to the ride's popularity, a fifth car was added in 1973 to increase capacity.

  10. Eagles... definitely. And I say that as someone that didn't ride them. (One of the very few rides I was scared of!) The biggest mis-step in KI history was the removal of the Antiques and Eagles for a junky looking coaster that delivers about 10% of it's original intended thrill. If I were made GM, the first thing I'd do is scrap Stunt Coaster and return that area of the park to it's original state.

  11. I'd have to say the same thing that makes amusement parks on the moon so inferior to those on earth-the atmosphere, or lack thereof. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

  13. Sounds like a five star attraction. Or a 22 star attraction! Terp, he of the obscure yet relevant references

  14. Can't you just imagine this in the Museum of KI History - JD's photo's as mounted 11x14 prints side by side, with Hendricks fades playing underneath on a tv screen - all surrounding a scale model of the park from the early 70's. In the next room, various signs/ride vehicles/images from rides gone by, followed by ... Sorry, here I go dreaming again - although I still say it would be an awesome attraction.
