  1. The Beast was officially, and quite appropriately, “unchained” in a steady downpour Friday, April 13, 1979 for hundreds of media representatives from around the U.S. and Great Britain. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog-article/online-fun/Happy-Birthday-Beast

  2. Below are some happenings from the year Kings Island opened in 1972: Richard Nixon wins his re-election bid for the Presidency. Swimmer Mark Spitz wins seven gold medals amid terrorism at the Munich Olympics. Troop withdrawals and truce negotiations begin in Vietnam. Man continues to walk on the moon during Apollo moon flights numbers 16 & 17. The Cincinnati Reds win the National League Pennant but lose the World Series in seven games to the Oakland A's. Gasoline is $0.37 per gallon. The last passenger train leaves the historic Union Terminal in Cincinnati. The "Godfather" wins the Academy Award for best movie. Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" spends six weeks at number one on the pop charts. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Miami Dolphins 24-3 to win the Super Bowl. More people watch "All in the Family" on a weekly basis than any other television program.

  3. And if you don't want your face, on anything, don't leave the confines of your home. Cameras are everywhere. Deal with it, or become a hermit.

  4. Whether you call it Mondo Monsoon or Tasmanian Typhoon, to me it will always be the giant toilet bowl.

  5. The 25th Anniversary...now we are approaching the 40th...time flys when you're having fun! I'm not a big fan of this cover...I think I know what the designer was going for, but to me this cover looks more like a swimming pool brochure than an amusement park brochure. I like this page a lot. Scooby Doo, Where Are You

  6. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/soak-city-waterpark What do you think of the names? Good, bad, meh? I'm just happy they didn't go with "Tube Slide", "Body Slide", and the like.

  7. I think that when the park makes an announcement about Son of Beast, it should be made by someone dressed in a Dippin' Dots uniform.

  8. There are those who post here who can be seen in those old specials. Yes, indeed. Terp, who suddenly feels very old...older than even Beast! Or Kings Island.

  10. Going to Holiday World for Holiwood Nights, and most likely will be able to do Kings Island sometime. I'd like to hit Stricker's again on Customer Appreciation Day. With Ohio State switching to Semesters this year, I lost 1/3rd of my summer.

  14. This one is correct, and is why they took out the loop. No one has died on Son of Beast. The loop was removed to reduce wear and tear on the structure.

  16. Vortex. Those arrow restraints are awful. I'd rather punch myself in the head.

  17. I just hope it's better than "Starlight Spectacular," which was anything but spectacular. With literal names such as "Drop Tower" for its attractions, CF should've called it: "Dark path with burn out Christmas lights."

  19. The less filling, tastes great harkens back to the 80's, when that always happened on the ship.

  20. 1974 was more beautiful, but 2011 has Viking Fury. This is a tough one, but Viking Fury trumps all, so I'll pick 2011.
