  1. If that was your attempt to prove your superior maturity, you missed the mark a bit. Paying little attention to spelling, grammar, spacing, capitalization and the conventions of written language is enough to earn you distaste, but resorting to things like what you said above won't earn you respect.

  2. I wish they'd test returning the trams to the parking lot

  3. Here's one last thing that I have dug up to post during this off-season. This is a May 1980 magazine article about the behind the scenes of The Kings Island & Miami Valley Railroad. I am going to string this out over a few days because there is so much to read...and because I can! I hope you enjoy it.

  4. I think most of us could agree that KI is the test park for Cedar Fair. They used KI to test Dinosaurs Alive!, WindSeeker, and Fast Lane last year. This year, it looks like KI will be used to test Soak City and the new food options. What I am curious to see is if CF will keep testing things at KI, maybe more food options or different amenities, maybe even another big ride like WS. I could maybe see CF trying out small flats or pass perks at KI before rolling them out to the other parks.

  5. Yep, when it comes to waterparks, Cedar Point has resorted to soaking patrons for years! No one who thinks so is all wet. Uh, wait....

  6. Hearing about all these kids reaching these height restriction thresholds is great. My son, Mr Saturday Nite Jr., is -4 months old, and I am looking forward to creating family Kings Island memories with him.

  9. Thank you for raising your children right. It is greatly appreciated. Being a teenager, I see a lot of stupid crap that gives my generation a bad rep.

  10. If I see a line like that for The Racer, I'm hightailing to the Fast Lane booth.

  12. standbyme - Great post! I have apparently I have "...reached (my) quota of positive votes for the day." Otherwise, I'd have "liked" it, and Terp's post, too! The train deserves much more respect than it gets. I remember riding it as a kid and I do remember the Indians, the canon fire and splashes, and the village in much better repair than now. Even an animatronic beaver felling a fake tree! I think since the Paddlewheel Excursions are gone from the park up north, maybe they could bring some of the theming here. I wouldn't mind if our train ride turned into the tongue-in-cheek, bad-joke-fest the Paddlewheels were. At least it would be something! :-)

  13. People used to actually care about other people's property and wouldn't destroy it. I don't know what's happened, but I was raised to repect the property of others. This is especially true of public places, like Kings Island. I don't carve my name into anything, I leave the scenery alone, and I use the trash cans. I am also raising my kids to respect the property of others. It's something more parents should do...

  14. Did you miss the part where they "added" a new area called X-Base and added a now-faded aircraft runway paint job on the ground? Did you miss the part where almost three-quarters of Rivertown was redone with the neat pavers and Beast received a new entrance plaza? Did you miss the part where the entirety of Coney Mall received the neat pavers alongside the new plaza between WindSeeker and Vortex?

  15. Cedar Fair itself is under new management as of 2012. Past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future performance. The nickel king aka coaster king is well and truly gone. What the future holds will be seen when it is. As Yogi Berra famously has noted, predictions are hard, especially when they are about the future.

  16. ...all ages... ...families.... What had become the virtually exclusively thrill seeker park is gradually broadening its focus. The nickel king is well and truly gone. See also: Dinosaurs Alive.
