Ironically, I find ginger jokes funny. I think the world would be a better place if people just learned to laugh at themselves and not take things so personally.3 points

So far I plan on being there close to 7:00, but with the way I am in the morning my alarm may go off and I may think "just 5 more minutes" a few times. Why not? But seriously, I was kind of thinking the same thing, but then I already know a few participants (Avatar, IndyGuy, standbyme, and jcgoble) and figured I didn't have to try to find something to wear with a gator on it or anything. But don't worry about it too much, somehow us KICers always seem to find each other, including the ones that haven't met the rest of us before. If you see a group of people together, chances are it's either us or Team TPR. All you need to do is look for us, we'll be the ones wearing Coasting for Kids shirts.3 points

OK, here's the latest elevation rendering: This is my personal favorite of the quick color tests I did. You can see the others here: Initial test Optional version (resembling the new Soak City gate) Again, you can review the whole process in my Blue Sky: Kings Island image set. One more final sketch regarding the front gate coming soon.2 points

http://www.cedarpoint.com/online-fun/new-live-video-cam Wouldn't it be cool if KI could get at least one of these? I'd prefer live streaming video than the webcams we have now.1 point

If you've ever stood in front of the antenna on a microwave radio when someone keys the mic, you won't want to stand in front of it again. [ I think he thought it was an alarm bell; but well said of the ill effects of direct, near-transmitter microwave exposure. Fries, anyone? (Kidding. Something called a rectenna is supposed to remedy such danger). I'm not sure a rectenna make things any better - it sounds too much like a pain in the butt.1 point

I think there's a better chance that the park will announce their decision for Son of Beast. We can put "Not pictured, Standbyme" How do we want to do this? I'm bringing my camera for The Beast tour and might be able to scare up a tripod. If I can get (or borrow) a tripod and figure out the self-timer (which shouldn't be hard), I can take the shot. I'm thinking we should take the shot at the start of The Beast tour with The Beast lift hill in the background; that way we don't lose any riding time for it. Any objections to that? standbyme, as for getting you into the shot, you wanna hide behind somebody and just stick your hand out and wave?1 point

I saw the 7:00 showing yesterday and thought the show was great. The theater was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The jokes were funny and honestly it was just nice to see a show that isn't a musical revue. The tricks were also very good. I've seen the videos from Knott's Haunt and I really hope Kings Island is planning on having the slightly more "adult" version of the show this October.1 point

Sasquatch breeding areas are often ignored too. I've seen parks build coasters over snipe hunting grounds as well.1 point

Remember when the parking lot was coded by Hanna Babera characters? And the tram to take you to the front gate / back to you car... the good ol' days.1 point

There is far more truth (and untruth) in that last statement than you know. What does Interpreter do? He plans, he has mediated, he edits, he's a clock, he's a reality specialist, he interprets, he's tried to assure equality, he wonders why he hasn't retired, he plots his next career (Washington, Memphis, Portland, Grand Prairie, Norcross?), and he's glad Alonzo hasn't yet made him disappear, no strings attached.1 point

You can stop cyber bullying and bullying all together if you get a court order. They have to stop then or risk going to jail. That will end up on your record to the point where no one will hire you. Or block them on facebook everytime they do it. Some parents just sit around and let bullying happen to their kids too which is sad. I have seen that. What's crazy about bullying happening at a themepark is that someone tried it on me. They thought it was funny till i said that i had the number for the police office for that park and i was going to call them to have them kicked out. They wsn't laughing then. Some of the people on KI's facebook page act like kids anymore. How you act online is how people will see you in real life. I can't stand bullying.1 point

We'll be sending out an e-mail tomorrow afternoon with details on parking, check-in & registration. The event will end with a behind the scenes tour of The Beast at 5:30pm. All of the participants will be given a Coasting for Kids shirt in the morning to wear during the event. The shirt will serve as your identification for The Racer crew and marketing staff during the ride session, lunch and Beast tour. A group photo will be taken at the entrance of The Racer before the event begins. On behalf of Kings Island, we again want to thank everyone for their participation and support.1 point

Don't forget to make your donation to Team KIC for Give Kids the World. Final counts for participants to see who hit the $75.00 minimum is at 12 noon on Friday. Donations can still be made after that time, but does not help people who did not hit the minimum. Visit the KIC page to donate! Thanks for your support! http://www.firstgiving.com/process/teamarea/default.asp?did=1785&teamid=1820531 point

I think what Colonel is saying is that people come to Kings Island to escape their troubles and simply enjoy their day. Not pay money to simply get yelled at about Anti bullying crap that they can hear about at home, over and over. It will only get ignored by park guests and waste time/money. Kings Island is an amusement park, keep it that way.1 point

I can remember a less sensitive time when bullying consisted of mother jokes, and ended up with two people becoming friends because they settled it on the playground.1 point

I'm probably going to get clobbered for this but I would like to say something in defense of Soak City. I have been reviewing Soak City's posts and, yes, I do disagree with them. However, as offbeat as they might be ( yes, it is crazy to hate a show yet see it 5 times) at no point did I see any personal attacks by him against anyone. As long as a person does not engage in personal attacks, they have a right to express their opinion and I think we should respect that difference of opinion no matter how offbeat. Just my two cents. ( Or nickels as Terpie would say.)1 point

The way the FUN Perks system works is the more you eat, shop and visit, the more rewards you will earn. It's not a system that anyone on this site will be able to decode. After you eat, shop and visit, check your account to see what you've earned.1 point

Its not just the "fan boys" that would enjoy this, if done correctly. There are a lot of parents & grandparents that don't partake in all of the rides, and are sitting around waiting for others in their party to get done with the latest attraction. The Tower Gardens was once such a nice area and has a ton of potential as a meeting/waiting area. Put some kind of history in there, heck even add a "classic KI gear" store in there where you can by "The Bat" "I learned to drive on the Ohio turnpike " (or whatever the classic car ride was called) and "King Cobra" t-shirts, replicas of old park maps, classic photos, etc... and you've got a nicely themed area of the park that would be worth visiting. What percentage of the park visits the park every season, but only once or twice a year? It would be worth stopping by at least once. Change up the stuff in there every season, and now its a place worth checking out at least once a year. Its not something that will solely get someone coming to the park the way a new roller coaster would, but if done right it could greatly enhance the experience of the average visitor, allowing them to connect with their past. Sell a few tshirts and old maps and you might actually make money off the thing. Get a grandparent that has spent the day taking their 5 year old from columbus or lexington on boo blasters and The Beastie to spend a few minures reliving the past with their grandchild explaining all the rides they used to conquer as a child, and maybe you get that 5 year old to start bugging their parents for a season pass and regular visits down the road. The park has 40 years of memories, most wonderful, with strong ties to people of all ages. People rarely complain about a trip down memory lane, capture it and sell it. At the least, do something with the tower gardens, its such an eye sore, and as a smoking designated area, my regular wednesday evening trips last year rarely found many smokers hanging out around the leaf filled, dryed up water feature.1 point
