  1. If it was a coaster you loved, cherish your memories. Don't forget. And, there will be many, many others.

^knowing him as a man of good character and true respect for those with disabilities, I would imagine there was misunderstanding involved. I can't think of anyone else here who has made more posts against inappropriate stereotypes or derogatory statements than he. There are several people here that I have tremendous respect for and I owe the majority of my KI knowledge to this site. I find peace, comfort and joy with these friends (some I've never met) and am glad to be a part of this community. I get annoyed at immature posters and haven't posted much recently but I can't imagine I'll ever stop returning to KIC.

There are a lot of videos I like on CoasterBob62's channel.
  4. As opposed to their illegal lawyers? Terp, who just HAD to.

I consider myself a hardcore enthusiast in real life. I know much much more than the average Joe. But some of you know much more than I do. As for the forums, I mostly enjoy reading other peoples posts and learning!
  6. ...more likely for Haunt. Lord knows it scared a lot of people.
  7. Soon, there won't be a place in the park where you can't see the demolition!
  8. Went to the park today. This is all you can see from Flight Deck.

I would prefer a maverick style coaster over another BLSC coaster.

There are a very select few I follow on these forums... other than that, KI is just another park to me. I enjoy parks of all different types, and KI has its pros and cons as do all parks. I am a hobbyist, at best, and FAR from an enthusiast.
  11. Agreed. Particularly in an election year, Cedar Fair should be more savvy than implying only Democrats are frightening.

    I really like this one

I can't watch them. Darn iPads!
  14. terrified children in the air also Terp. Imagine family members who were suppose to meet up and couldnt find their children who may have been stuck in the air. They may have assumed their kids were lost/stolen.
  15. I wouldn't even bother taking anything if it was just a pathetic t-shirt, if I sound really snobby, I'm sorry but that's truly pathetic, they should at least be given free tickets or a season pass, if they even want to come back.

I'm not much of a KIC enthusiast. I've never even met Dane, Boddah, or The Interpreter. Actual (slightly mushy) answer: I don't know. I know enough random KI ride trivia to make my non-coastering friends' eyes roll, but I don't get psyched every time I go to the park like I used to. I still love the park very much, but it's become less of "this is the best mini-vacation ever" and more of a place where I can relax and get away with each trip. I've come nowhere near the 18-ish visits I made in 2008 in this year or last, but I feel like I've learned to appreciate the place in a new way. (I guess that's one thing that can be said for the removal of The Crypt for me: I never really noticed this until this year. Once upon a time, riding it and Son of Beast were the meat and potatoes of a KI trip for me and my friends.) If you told me a year, I probably couldn't tell you with much certainty (unless we're talking the late 90's, 2000's, and whatever you want to call this decade) what rides came or went, but I can point out several places in the park where I've had fun experiences since I started buying my own passes four years ago. More times than not, the fun we've had was because we were at Kings Island. Summarized: I love the place, but not for any particular reason related to what's there, haha. EDIT: Except for Adventure Express.

I do think I am a KI enthusiast to a pretty hardcore level but not anywhere near the KI enthusiast dude. More than anything I am an enthusiast of The Beast.
  18. Let's take the park at it's own words at the time. No decision had been made concerning Son of Beast. It was a Haunt prop. Nothing more. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
  19. And in Dinosaurs Alive's case.....One of the Dinosaurs Backfired in 2011 http://masonbuzz.com/2011/05/24/kings-island-dinosaur-catches-fire/
  20. So it's operating at about 11% more downtime than usual, then?
  21. Odd. I've been around this business more than 40 years. I have NEVER heard that quote used. Not even once.
  22. I'd bet anything the "equipment" will be brought in at least twice.

    Bigger is not necessarily better.
  24. That was so last millennium.....
  25. See Tower Gardens. Now THAT area IS sad.
  26. The Skyline will never be the same again!!
  27. I have issues with fear of heights, that's why it's a big win when I conquer a ride like that. Three hours, I don't know how I would reacted, but after my guts untwisted themselves, I would given myself a big huge Cowardly Lion sized medal, compensation or not. Funny that when my parachute strings got tangled, I was as calm as a cucumber, like I was changing a lightbulb, but that was me saving myself- not me waiting for someone else to fix the situation. I hate relying on others to fix things, I have superiority issues that way.
  28. You can see some of the demolition from Flight Deck's exit.

Well said. I too feel the same way. I learn from the best!
  30. We sent Friday night, no crowds, had a great time. Saw the new hamburger cart/stand near slaughterhouse but did not sample - will have to do that next time. Also saw the LaRosa's stand in the Coney Mall, suspect that place will get packed if the 'za is fresh and hot, when the crowds come up to usual Haunt sizes. Agree with previous post that the Michael Jackson actor was awesome. Made my younger son laugh and put him at ease (he got rattled when we came thru the lines at opening time with all the scareactors there. Makeup was very good again this year. The 'statues' on International Street creep me out - they're doing a *great* job. The Easter Bunny was there for holiday horror, as were Presidents Obama and Clinton, but alas we did not see TrickyDick. The new fog juice isn't nearly as irritating to my sinuses, but it wasn't pleasant on contact lenses. They show no lasting effects though, after a good cleaning and soak. Just not comfy while there. We'll be back soon!
  31. Invertigo. Amazon Falls. Flight Deck. Delirium. Drop Tower. That's quite a bit more than nothing.
  32. Fixed it for you. That one would probably be more accurate! No coincidence that it was mostly bro-status dudes in line for that one.
  33. I honestly liked the ride. It was relaxing.
  34. It's not just you. To my knowledge the SIX rides have had no brake issues.
  35. Every new beginning is some other thing's end. Terp, who has said too much already (and for whom Atlanta will soon be Gone with the Wind(not Seeker). There's a new beginning coming soon.
  36. The brake run and NOT the rose bowl? Somebody was wrong. It looks like, ahem, hurricane damage...
  37. Cal OSHA. Different jurisdiction than federal OSHA. That makes more sense. In any event, investigators and the media are both far more aggressive in California (and New Jersey, to name two major examples) than in, say, Florida, where large parks do their own inspections. I strongly suspect that unless a faster, safer evac procedure is implemented, this ride is done. Three hours for this type of ride is not acceptable. I remember a sky ride at Kings Island. I wonder why it is no longer there...

The longest wooden coaster in the world isn't big? Sheesh.

The topic is about youtube videos, not the people who made them Really? When the sentence says who makes and the topic is about video makers? Hmm one wonders whats next on the excuse list. I believe he meant that this topic is about individual videos, not the topic you linked to.
  40. You'd rather put up with constantly inserting drops for 14 hours? Some of us MUST wear glasses ALL our waking hours. Contacts aren't even an option.
  41. I think Oktoberfest needs something, just not a coaster. A coaster wouldn't fit (unless we remove the pond and put in a dive machine with a splash down! (kidding)), but I agree, maybe like a new log flume behind Sling Shot by Adventure Express, just one that doesn't destroy the area(shoot the rapids). But the reason I think AZ needs something first is not only because the park needs a coaster, but AZ seems to be in a state of disrepair, or at least the paths and the general feel. Where as there may not be a whole lot in Oktoberfest, at least it feels clean and kept well.
  42. Its going to be weird not seeing that big wooden monster looking down on everyone next year.
  43. I guess I'm the minority. I love WindSeeker but I do agree that it is a waste of money if they have to go through countless repairs.
  44. Fixed it for you.
  45. All things considered, I am not surprised to see these rides closed down. Didn't we spend the first half of the 2011 operating season trying to fix the issue of the chairs coming dangerously close to each other after a cycle? That was something Mondial should have figured into the equation prior to the arrival of the first four Seekers by installing the dampening systems.
