Reason why we gave our guests Diamondback in 2009 is because it's the ride we wanted to add to our thrill ride lineup. We could have gone a lot of different directions. We wanted to add a B&M coaster. The ride has proven to be immensely popular, giving nearly 10 million rides in five seasons. The majority of our guests that ride roller coasters absolutely love it!13 points

A small moment to reflect to those who made this ride possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk11 points

The experiences will only be about 180 yards apart. They are both in Action Zone after all! (Yes, I understand what you meant. I had been waiting for a chance to use that image.9 points

The winner of each round wins passes to Banshee Media Day and advances to the finals held on October 26 for the chance to win a trip for two to Los Angeles which includes tickets to Knott's Berry Farm and $1,000 cash. As mentioned, you want to sign up early on Friday nights to lock in a spot during one of the four rounds. It only takes about 20-25 minutes for all the contestants to compete in each round, so it doesn't take a lot of time away from your night at Halloween Haunt. Come on out and give it a try. You'll get a free t-shirt. You might win passes to Banshee Media Day which would give you an opportunity to be among the first to experience the world's longest inverted roller coaster. And, you just might win a trip for two to LA.9 points

There's alot that that rendering got wrong, including other ride colors (See the Eiffel Tower) For instance in the rendering: No true floor drop No catwalks to the lift hill No feed wheels prior to lift No lift hill cameras No proxies along the whole ride No catwalk under the middle of the lift hill Support between the middle support to hold the stairs/railing/catwalks Concrete footers not shown how they were actually poured (see triangle footers) Painted bolts/Studs matching ride color I believe the floor on the brake run isn't grated (can't confirm this last one) It's a basic rendering, it was meant to just show off the ride and get hyped up for 2014..that is all5 points

^That's similar to an invert's evac system... There is a small platform at the base of the lift (in raptor's POV @ 10 sec) that can go all the way up the lift (follows the catwalk) until lift crest. It's motor is below the platform (can see in the queue). In the case of evac, the platform goes up under the ride, the railing raised, restraints for one row unlocked, and guests take the small platform to the stairs and then down. I may be able to get more stuff from a few friends who worked Raptor and one still there...So gimmie a bit to follow up, but here's a pic from another B&M ride, showing the platform up the catwalk5 points

Our inverting coasters are sub par and honestly unoriginal in this day and age. And Flight of Fear is getting shaky. It used to be a good ride, but now it's alright. Especially the way the MCBR slams you to a stop. It's about time we go a zero G in Kings Island, along with some unique inversions on a smooth B&M. Forget your silly thoughts about getting a 300+ft coaster, they went in the direction of a looping coaster. What's the best place to look for a looping coaster? B&M's inverted.5 points

Man!!! After looking at the official animation and diagrams again. This looks like it comes pretty close to the ground on the initial drop and basically entering almost every inversion during the ride. It makes me think that: A. The foot-chopper effect looks like it could be very strong. (Either from the ground or obstacles if they utilize them) B. The low level passes make it possible for good use of fog and other effects if they are planning on using them on this ride. C. This is going to be a very forceful ride. It might even be hard ride to marathon (at least for me). The low entries into high inversions look like they will produce a lot of G's. This ride looks awesome and I am glad that KI and B&M are bringing this to us!5 points

I intend to have someone in the group record video of me using my phone. That video will then be uploaded to YouTube and posted here without shame.4 points

I rode Gatekeeper yesterday because it was a walk on at 10 pm and you can pull the vest forward because it doesn't lock. It is a whole different ride now. Banshee it going to be amazing if they do this with the vests. I rode Diamondback with my lab bar up a notch and I could easily fly out of my seat so I don't know what your talking about4 points

Eh...I've still taken it to get a great view of the point and to see some houses You know you have money when your house has a garage for your boat4 points

Guests that renew their 2013 season pass online or at the park are still able to enjoy unlimited visits through the end of the season on October 27. When you buy a Gold or Platinum pass, it clearly states valid for all public operating days during that season.4 points

Yes. Once you walk off stage they ask you for your shirt size. Everyone gets a shirt. Each competition only has 50 slots. So sign up early4 points

Speed, weight, pitch and roll are all factors that effect the G's a coaster exerts on its passengers. The fact the coaster goes close to the ground, is simply just that. It goes close to the ground. If that were the determining factor in the amount of G's a coaster exerts, then the Great Pumpkin Coaster sure as hell packs a punch. EDIT: Just realized with the addition of Banshee, we are now 2nd, behind SFMM, for having the most inversions in an amusement park IN DA WORLD. http://rcdb.com/ib.htm4 points

Most of which moved in AFTER the park was built, so they should have known what was to be going on there. But it is comforting know that Kings Island tries to accommodate them (and possibly avoid a lawsuit).3 points

Board 2 Death is awesome, great costumes and scenery, made me jump a few times. Cool concept. Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror is great. I did the early walkthrough on 9-8, so I predicted one scare. I wish that huge demon would move, though. It wasn't moving when I went through it. Urgent Scare was okay - I liked some of the effects. That buzzing siren gave me chills. Delta Delta Die and especially Tombstone Terror-tory are bad. With DDD, it's the scenery doesn't make a lotta sense. It doesn't look like a house. With Tombstone, it's that there really is very little scenery at all. Plus you have to wait in line for half an hour after you get off the train. The actors were giving it their all, but the scenery is lame. Oh yeah Backwoods Bayou - worth going through if you're headed that way, especially because there's no line. Very thick fog. Ed Alonzo was hilarious. Very raunchy, lots of sexy dance numbers, and some impressive tricks.3 points

Yes, once outdoor haunts open, the train will stop in the woods and drop you off. You will then have to go through Tombstone Terror-tory to get back to the park. There is no round trip once outdoor haunts are open.3 points

I think both Oktoberfest and Coney Mall should get a Gemini midway style revamp at the same time. Both areas are in need of more family rides. Coney did get new pavers and a new flat in 2011, but it barely represents the old 1960's Coney, and I feel it probably should. They could add Antique cars, Flying Eagles and a Cuddle Up to Coney, an Eli Bridge ferris wheel to Oktoberfest, and lights can be strung above the midway of Coney.3 points

Relocating GL's X-Flight (as Firehawk) involved a substantial capital outlay. Supposedly, not much money was saved verses what building it new would have cost. Firehawk's station is rather impressive, and terrain modification (to match the existing coaster) was not cheap.3 points

You are all very welcome! I've been wanting to do this for years and I'm just now getting motivated to get pictures of these things so they can be preserved forever. I just finished scanning one of my favourite things I have. Its an old brochure. I don’t know the date. It has a beautiful centerfold of The Racer which I stitched together instead of having separate pages. I also took a picture of a mug with my name on it as well as an Eiffel Tower magnet. I'll try to get another park map or two Saturday and maybe some easy to scan pictures and post cards.3 points

Here is a basic rundown of "topping out" "The practice of "topping out" a new building can be traced to the ancient Scandinavian religious practice of placing a tree on the top of a new building to appease the tree-dwelling spirits of their ancestors that had been displaced. The practice migrated to England with Scandinavian invaders and took root there." Source: http://ebrpl.libguides.com/content.php?pid=245623&sid=2883779 Clearly a practice that Kings Island has not adopted.3 points
