While working at the Haunt last Friday night (October 11), I had an encounter with a wild animal. It was very dark and with the fog that was being produced, the visibility was not very good. I was by the entrance to the season pass building when I saw what I thought was a large white plastic trash bag in the grassy area. I walked over to it to pick it up and when I got within 10 feet or so of it, it began to move. This "white" trash bag was about 3 feet in length and had a very white bushy tail. Needless to say, I calmly began to back away and it saw me and calmly walked over to the trees and disappeared. This was one of the Park's almost all white skunks and with me being about 10 feet away, I was well within range of its smelly weapon and with the skunk's deadly aim, I would had been a real stinker. You can bet I would had called first aid and have them come to my aid. I would had advised them to bring a gas mask and a new set of uniforms for me and several gallons of tomato juice along with soap and a scrub brush. I heard that tomato juice will help in getting the smelly oil and scent off of you and I am glad I did not have to see how well it worked. If you have ever driven along the road and seen and smelt a skunk on the side of the road, you know how I would had smelled. And besides, on a bright note, I would not have to ask someone to make room as I sat down at a crowded event. They would had given me the entire section!9 points

Tony did a Twitter Q&A last week, here is the link http://storify.com/pointbuzz/recap-of-tweet-with-tony. Some highlights: Q: Any plans for Magnum's 25th bday? Really hoping for a ride marathon contest, I could ride that thing all day! A: Yes. We're actually in the initial planning stages on Magnum and Blue Streak's anniversaries. Q: is Cedar Point getting rid of shoot the rapids or sky hawk? A:No plans to remove either. Q: Would you consider having Fast Lane passes for a really tough Tweetup prize? A: Next year's prizes will be bigger and better. Shhh! Q: is TTD getting painted over the winter? A: That is the current plan. Q: Please tell me Mean Streak isn't going any where for a few years. A: Mean Streak is sticking around. Q: is there any chance raptor will get new Gatekeeper/Banshee restraints? A: If I knew that, I couldn't tell you. Q:Can u make on ride front seat pov's for all the coasters since their surrounding areas change every year? A: We'll be re-shooting most of them next year. Technology and time got the best of me this year. Q: What is going to happen to all that lovely blacktop by Gemini? Another park pet peeve off the list! A: It's going away. I've been told it will be "pebbly" like the front gate area. Q: What's your favorite Cedar Fair Park besides CP? & non-Cedar Fair - if you can say. Did GK hit 2 million yet? A: I love Kings Island - I haven't been to enough of our parks to pick a fav, tho!6 points

The answer is in the TOS. And never, ever ask a philosopher like Terp an open ended question like "Why?" I'm told that was my first intelligent word on this orb. It might well also be my last. I could go on for pages with an answer to "Why?" Especially tonight.4 points

I have noticed the raccoons up in the rafters of Festhaus later in the evening and especially during haunt. While KI has a very natural setting I am surprised they have not done some pest removal. After all raccoons and skunks are carriers of rabies and could cause quite a liability issue for the park.4 points

Guests will leave their coolers along the fence by the picnic tables by the season pass buildings and even leave bags with their food. This summer, one of the guests had a lot of items for their group along with a big bag with sandwich buns. That is just asking for trouble and trouble found the bread. A good size adult raccoon ventured up there and was just feasting away on the sandwich buns. We chased it away and left a note to the guests as to what had happen. I later saw them and told them about it. For the most part, you will see birds and squirrels eating the crumbs that the guests leave on the ground, but not larger animals such as raccoons. But they are opportunists and when a feast is left for them, they will dig in. I mentioned this to the guests during the day and to beware of the raccoons. I have seen raccoons all around the dumpsters, especially out behind the River Town Pizza late at night, but not in the daylight with guests present. You don't even want to think about being bitten by a raccoon or any other wild animal because of rabies.4 points

I've never seen one. If you got sprayed, you'd have your own instant FastLane, as everyone would clear out around you.4 points

Last year when we were leaving behind the admissions back entrance, we spotted the white skunk in front of the Operations building entrance and a group of employees were walking between the operations building and the I-Street. We yelled over to them to watch themselves as there was a skunk there. The wild animals do come out at night and skunks are just one of the park's wild animal residents.4 points

The first picture was taken a few months back.... The second picture was taken today..... Notice the upgraded color scheme on Giant Wheel. (Photo Courtesy of The New Kentucky Kingdom) Although it's looking good, work on the Giant Wheel isn't complete yet, according to Kentucky Kingdom.3 points

You must be the lucky charm that brings us more construction because more support went up. Say more stuff won't happen. Tell us the loop won't be up tomorrow!3 points

If only it were as simple as new seats. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that though.3 points

There is certainly a skunk that has set up home somewhere underneath AE . More times than not this season while entering the queue you could smell of its existence. And many times at night in various locations throughout the park ( especially in the parking lot ), one can smell "skunky" odors but I don't think it's from any animal3 points

Say what you will about Avatar as a movie, Im luke warm, but Pandora coming a live at Animal Kingdom looks amazing. Really it makes perfect sense, originally phase 2 of AK was going to be a mythical land of dragons and unicorns, well Disney put that off and now they are developing a mythical land that is branded and has 3 new movies on the way. Brilliant marketing strategy if you ask me. The renderings look fantastic and AK at night is going to have a very unique feel. Night rides on Everest, should be awesome. Also the fact AK will be open later and have a night time show is great, I am really excited about this. Especially if it is a World of Color style show. This will also lessen nighttime crowds at the 3 other parks. AK has been in need of more attractions, honestly this park can be done and experienced by midday or you can get up late and skip rope drop here and you are ok. This is all going to change now and the new attractions will keep the park bustling all day. I am excited for more family attractions at AK. 2 major rides in Pandora and probably 2-3 more minor attractions as well. Now if the rumors hold true that Disney Studios is getting a Star Wars Land, hold on to your light saber.3 points

Early morning moving of track and supports? Track and supports being unloaded? Can't really tell due to all the lights.....And the fact that it's 6:40 in the morning! But something is going on at the Banshee construction site....and back by the old trams (area)...3 points

How can T2 ever be a premier attraction, since Premier opted not to submit a bid on the park last October....(slipping quietly out of the thread, ...) Unless, you think they might bid later on down the road...3 points

Holy cow, there must be a lot of hiding space at the island. Once while mowing a ditch, I rolled the push mower up and over the drainage pipe and when the mower was above the pipe, one ran out of the pipe and went between my legs to the other drainage pipe behind me....needless to say there was a palpitation and a slight dribble that occurred....LOL3 points

Wait, so let me get this straight... The reason it was never changed to the Batman theme was because the ride was so awful that TW didn't want to get embarrased? That's hilarious!3 points
-
(which it was. TimeWarner objected to the ride's rideability. Wise folk. The Batman logo even inexplicably appeared with T2 for several years, then quietly disappeared.)3 points

I would bet that the steel erection is a very small part of actually building the coaster. You have ground work, electrical, plumping, planning, and testing to do. Most of which can't been seen by a low res webcam.3 points

20 years ago. Two decades. And Paramount was brand new to Kings Island. One must wonder who will run Kings Island in 2033. Will Racer still run? Beast? Banshee? Diamondback? Vortex? None of us know. Some of us won't live to see it. And the GM may be a member here. Right now.3 points

We encountered the skunks twice this year, once in Planet Snoopy, and another in Coney Mall between Zephyr and the arcade building. Thought for a second he was going to go in the arcade. That would have been interesting I bet.2 points

Not that I'd ride it, but I'd like to see a Zipper in Coney Mall. Also a Tilt a Whirl and a Musik Express would be nice there too.2 points

KI has raccoons as well....you can some times see their poo on the floor beneath the coaster track on AE.2 points

If this was me, I would have tried to pull off to the side somewhere or go back to the parking lot and just sleep in my car until it cleared out.2 points

I'm surprised and stunned by the people saying a version of "the people should've expected this," "it's no different from a popular sporting event or concert," etc. The idea of being in dead-stopped traffic for 4, 3, or even 2 hours is absolutely miserable. Actually going through it would be indescribable. Folks would run the gamut from infuriated to enraged, I have no doubt. I understand there's little that Cedar Point could do and that it comes with the territory, but add on 4 hours of dead stopped traffic to that feeling you (and your family - including young children) have after an exhausting 12 hour day at a sunny, 80 degree theme park. Woof. Disneyland's annual pass has four tiers. The lower two are for Southern California residents only, with the cheaper being blocked out all summer, most Friday / Saturdays, and in the weeks around holidays. They're cheap. The higher tears are $450 and $600, respectively, with only the $600 one free of blockout dates. Say what you will - it works. On days when the resort is handed last-minute plans from the Orlando-based Parks headquarters for 24-hour parties or Friday-the-13th celebrations with no chance to block out passes, roads are absolutely gridlocked, and both parks close to capacity. It's a nightmare, and as miserable as a Disney park can be. Famously, during the 24-hour party on February 29th, every changeable sign in Orange County was automatically switched to read "DISNEYLAND CLOSED" in all caps. Didn't do much to divert the gridlocked traffic that had already blocked every highway for miles...2 points

Here's my plan: 2014: Finish & open Banshee to the public. A new S&S screamin' swing is added to X-base. 2015: Teaser signs and footers begin to pop up around Rivertown saying things like, "Race for the gold." Also, a new Tilt-a-whirl is added just outside of Diamondback's station. The haunt inside of the Crypt's old building is removed, but not the building. 2016: A new Mack launched terrain coaster is built using the Crypt's old building as a dark ride section. Gold Rush: The ride starts in the Crypt's old building, showing animatronics everywhere which appear to be digging for gold. The curves around there for roughly 45 seconds, and then stops and launches at 71 mph and at zero to sixty in 2.5 seconds. The ride then climbs up while turning, but twists the other way now facing Diamondback. The ride then performs several elements, such as a loop, zero-g-roll, and some airtime hills. The ride ends back inside the Crypt's building where you can see more animatronic miners who have found gold. The whole section glows of gold. When you exit the station, you will enter a gift shop where you can buy knick-knacks and pictures and stuff. 2017: Congo Falls is relocated to Soak City. Action Zone is re-themed to a spooky area, and all the rides there are re-named to fit the new theme. 2018: Diamondback is repainted, and the splashdown pool is re-done. 2019: A new B&M Wing-Coaster is added to X-Base named "Phantom Jet" Phantom Jet: The ride comes out of the station banking a hard left, now facing Banshee. The ride then climbs a 204 foot lift-hill, to be greeted with a drop like Gatekeepers. The ride then goes into a massive corkscrew, and performs several other elements including, a zero-g-roll keyhole element. When you exit the ride, you will walk by the model Phantom Jet and into the gift shop. The station & queue is themed to a hangar. 2020: The front gate is redone, and the International street shops are re-themed to actually be international. 2021: Nothing 2022: Action Theater and Dinosaurs Alive removed. 2023: Footers begin to pop up in Action Zone, (or whatever the new name will be) and teasers say things like, "Prepare to HOWL!" 2024: Werewolf, a B&M giga coaster pops up in Action Zone. Werewolf: The ride starts out going up a 320 foot lift hill, only to dive down into a valley, making the drop 324 feet. The ride then performs several airtime hills, helixes, and a hammerhead turn. The station will be themed to a castle, and the queue, will be themed to the "forest." The ride will be brown & gray, and will have stadium style seating like Diamondback. The exit will take you into a castle themed gift shop, where you can buy your picture or even a stuffed werewolf! This is my plan.2 points
