  1. Why would you get banned for an opinion? I could name several places that go well beyond a park is a park--on the great extreme on one side and the lousy on the other. A small park in New Hampshire can be a delightful experience. Many parks closed because, for many of them, frankly, they weren't. Others were, but closed for a myriad of reasons. If you are saying that you can have fun in virtually any park, I heartily commend that. If you are saying that virtually all parks are nearly the same, I cannot agree. Always feel free to express your opinions here--politely of course. This is not a ban happy place. If it were, many of us would have been gone long ago.

  8. Tell that to some of the enthusiasts furiously spamming Facebook comments about how the belts will slash capacity times and diminish airtime. Speaking of which: My anger towards this is....forget it. Not even gonna go there.

  9. 80,000 for basically a "first year" park- that's really good- MUCH larger than similarly sized parks. They key will be to translate that into year 2, 3, and beyond. They were right, to an extent- "pent-up" demand will pace Year 1. Successive years will be the trick.

  10. Except B&M hyper coasters have existed for 15 years and have had 0 ejections. It feels more like a knee-jerk reaction to the public's reaction over the New Texas Giant incident more than anything else. +1. Completely redundant and totally unnecessary. They'll probably be removed eventually, but say adios to a good chunk of capacity until they're removed.

  11. I just rode it. It's fine folks. Does not hamper ride experience at all except a delay in loading And unloading. Sent from a signal coming out of the Vega system.

  13. I am also in the camp that can have fun at virtually all parks. Many of my friends (who are not on this site) are very much the opposite, and need high-intensity thrill rides to entertain them. And that's fine. To each his own. But personally, I'm the sort who can enjoy taking a walk through Cincinnati's Coney Island (in my opinion, one of the most beautiful parks I've been to yet) every bit as much as I can enjoy a day at Cedar Point or Kings Island. Heck, my favorite parks in the whole world are Stricker's Grove, Carowinds, and Kennywood, and those are not parks you'll see topping many lists with the average thrill-seeker. Cedar Point is near the bottom of my list (which baffles most of my friends) but I still think it's a wonderful park with a great setting (even if I feel most of their coasters are mediocre at best). I can see Kentucky Kingdom joining the ranks of my favorites, (if only because I adore Chance/Morgan coasters and parks that have them) especially a few years down the road when their other coasters open and they've developed a strong presence in the area... IF they survive that long (and I really, really hope they do).

  14. Jaws was my very first amusement park ride ever. I lived in FL with my family until I was seven. Mom took me to Universal to see Barney when I was three, and figured that she didn't want to buy two tickets to Universal without getting her money's worth. She took me on Jaws, and I guess (I don't remember since I was three) the driver of the boat pulls a "gun" out and shoots it during the course of the ride. She tells me I screamed the loudest of anyone on that boat...and for a good 45 minutes afterward too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Actually, I like it. The shape and color and font tells you what you need to know. That's great advertising, and it's in an amusement park, where there are big-headed toony children and dogs that consistently walk on their hind legs. I see nothing wrong with this at all, in fact, for a giant, cheesy macaroni, I think it's tastefully done. Edit to add: after reading the dimensions of it, I MUST get a picture of it, with an average joe for size scale. It's orca sized.

  17. This thread just gave me a great idea, take the kids to KI tomorrow night, cookout some brats and Kraft Velveeta Mac N Cheese Saturday afternoon. I haven't even seen the Noodle yet, but thanks to your posts it seems to be working. " Honey, will you take a picture of me and the kids with our favorite Noodle".. Say Cheese!

  18. All that the sculpture will do for me is make me want to leave the park so I can eat some Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. -homestar92, a Mac 'n Cheese connoisseur of sorts.

  19. Forget Tower Drinks, let's get a group photo in front of the giant noodle. KI has had various nods to sponsors over the years. Allowing Kraft Foods to install a temporary sculpture is a lot more tasteful than most forms of advertising, in my opinion at least.

  21. Growing tired of Facebook as well. Nothing but drama. Kinda silly trying to keep tabs on people that could just pick up a phone or stop by if they really care about you. Also find it annoying that the site has not expanded beyond the "Like" button. Nothing creepier than seeing someone has received 32 likes on their post about their Mother being hit by a Bus.

  22. Seatbelts are present on Diamondback as of today. Per reports from another KICer, they are not the adjustable kind as you would see on Racer and Beast, but they are made of a stretchy elastic material. They go across the lap like on the woodies rather than clipping to the restraint like on FoF, Vortex, Banshee, Invertigo, etc. Presumably, there is nothing more to discuss here, unless someone wants to post a picture. I know at least one KICer has a pic and has put it on Facebook, but I'm not going to be uploading somebody else's photo.

  24. DiamondAceExpress, the one that the Gatorettes and I go to when driving through Columbus is just south of downtown in Grove City, at 1944 Stringtown Rd. From 71-North, take exit 100, turn left, and it will be about a half mile down on the right. I find it funny that it's right next to KFC. We go to this one because we can't wait the extra time it takes to get up to Polaris for our Cane's fix. They will be opening one at the former Five Guys location on Tylersville eventually. A little birdy (not Jr for Birdy, and not a chicken... nor a NoChicken for that matter) told me recently that it's been delayed a little while, so I'll keep waiting and it will remain a roadtrip fixture for now.

  27. Strange choice of music. Very mellow and sad with that slow piano. And what was up with the women from Ohio Tourism?? "What I want you to think about when you're on Bahshee, it's 2min45secs long....is 580 little babies are going to be born." Really? You come up with nothing else but strange ..'this is what happened in the world in the last _ minutes facts'. I'll make sure to think about all those babies when I ride for the first time.

  31. I have my Kings Island/ any amusement park clothes for all weather that keeps me from ever needing a bin or locker. I carry my phone, car key, gold pass, Drivers License, and a credit card in a bag in a zipper pocket. It's not going anywhere, it's become a science. No need for carry cups, I get free shots of water all day and on occasion buy a soda from a gas station on the drive home.

  32. I think it's a great idea. Generating money without charging more money to season pass holders is awesome in my book! So what if it's not pretty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  33. In my opinion putting boxes/bins in the Firehawk and Banshee stations would greatly slow down the capacity of the rides. Firehawk is slow enough to load and Banshee on it's opening season would really not be good. By the way--- I heard a few people complaining about having to get a locker for their stuff while riding Banshee. Basically it was "why weren't we told about this earlier" after being informed by a KI police/security officer about 100 feet from the que entrance. Later, Mark

  34. I was going to do a full report, but so many people have done that. Hope you enjoy this regardless. First off, I so appreciate Kings Island opening up Media Day to enthusiasts. I can say this was an amazing experience. Despite how cold it was, it was truly a great event. She's a beauty! Love the sign. . I also appreciate being able to participate in the Scream For A Kid Again fundraiser. I am very thankful that my friends Amber and KK can reap the benefits of a wonderful organization. Photo was taken at the event. According to the information it was from EasleyBlessed.com I know there are others from this site who participated in this event and I wish we could have all met that night! 37. I REALLY wish I didn't have a big deadline coming up for work. Today would probably be a good day to go. Early rains might keep the crowds away, but the rain is supposed to stop around mid-day. Plus it's not too hot, not too cold. Oh well, I'm sure there will be other similar opportunities this spring.

  38. For the first time, in a long time, Banshee has finally laid her head to sleep...... No LED's on the lift hill, no fog, and probably no effects at all. The only thing to be seen during the night was her special edition SlingShot night-light near her lift..... (Image captured from Kings Island's Banshee Construction Cam) Rest peacefully. You have a long weekend ahead of you.

  39. What? No photos of me waltzing into the park at 8:00a with zero line for check in and only a minimal wait for Banshee?

  40. Jr, That's the way to go, in my opinion. I'll go so far as tying a zipper front hoodie around my waist in weird weather, but that's all - I don it for the rides. KI is way more fun without the hassle of stuff.

  43. Then don't look at it. Is it something really pretty? No. Is it ugly? No. Is it generating revenue? I'd assume yes. The thing that bothers me most is taking a picture of the fountains and Tower will include this. Still, not a big deal.

  45. Almost as bad as the "Knott" fiasco several days ago! Theme park puns are Knott Berry funny, and frankly, I don't Cedar Point. I don't think anyone would make any such puns (Perhaps Kennywood, but I don't really Carowinds)

  46. You might as well believe it, I'm sure it's really there. And as for who cares? KI's Accountants, and Krafts PR department. It helps the park make some extra cash, that deflects costs being sent to the consumer. At that point, I care to, wheel in the Weinermobile next to it and call it lunch land !!

  47. You could say the park is Krafting up something cheesy!

  48. You guys complain about everything. Even if it was Kings Island who spent the money on it why would you care? They aren't spending your money on it. Hell it's better than the billboards that used to be in the ride formerly known as Top Guns line.

  49. The Beast queue is very narrow! especially compared to newer attractions like Delirium and Diamondback. It's especially noticeable when you have to leave the queue midway through waiting, and have almost no means of getting around or through the other guests. The Beast's queue was built well before ADA laws required a specific width for accessibility. The queue width had everything to do with making the most use out of the space. There's been no need to change it since Beast loads accessible riders via the exit. Also, at the time, obesity and general size of riders was much less... not meant as a derrogatory statement, rather a general fact. Finally, most don't realize this, but The Beast originally had 4 queue houses - long lines necessitated it back in the day. As lines decreased over time, the 4th queue was removed. It currently has 3. The remnants of the former queue can be seen by the keen eye.
