Possible another B&M stand up in the near future?
DeLorean Rider replied to Changmanky's topic in Rumors
I agree with both of you^. I think its alright to have duplicates, like Firehawk and batwing. But things like Batman: the ride and all of the Hang and Bangs [sLC Compact Inverted ie t2, kong, mind eraser] it seems as though Six Flags hit up those companys for a buy 1 get 5 free deal. PS: This is B&M's ride of the future: EDIT: Its Vekoma and Amec Dynamic Structures' new ride of the future -
No they dont. Though the clown is still set up partly, no they do not leave them up year round. The house is games storage, the asylum is maintainence storage, cowboy carnage is a games "in park office" and the circus is entertainment storage.

Is this an assumption or do you actually have a figure to back that up?

You know they actually have the ability to synconize drop zones magnetic breaks in such a way that if they leave the catch car at the top of the tower, they can create kind of a launch sensation of the gondola itself. It cant go all the way up the tower but it can go about 2/3 up the tower. The only problem is that it complicates things when they want to slow the ride down later. There is always the possiblity that they would end up launching the gondola into the ground so they never do it anymore.

Horrific French Accident: Two Dead
DeLorean Rider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Holy cow! I cannot even imagine that. There is a similar ride called SkyScraper in Flordia. It was on the discovery channel years ago and I remember them saying that they pressurize all of the rails and piping of the ride and have a monitor to see if there is any chang in pressure. Obviously if pressure is lost then they know that they have a hairline crack somewhere and they will deal with it immediately. Somehow I doubt that this particular ride was as well cared for. -
Kings Dom. & Busch Gardens Trip
DeLorean Rider replied to AdventureExpresser's topic in Trip Reports
It's very difficult, UC does not consider the College Program to be a Co-Op, but in order to get into the Disney Professional Internship, you have to do the college program first. Somewhere along the lines you gotta take off school to do the college program to even be considered for anything further. I believe MarketingExpress can vouch for this. -
Is it possible for KIC to host the game?
-
Ah yes, one third of the great Terrible Trio built by Harry Traver. The kind of coaster that, if 3 people died on it one year, the goal was 2 for the next. The kind of ride that had to have a nurse stationed in the station at all times. Harry Traver was one crazy SOB.

Kings Dom. & Busch Gardens Trip

And People DO have a fantastic time at Disney World. I myself am going to Disney World this september for 6 days because of this. -
Yea, I beat that game several times, it was hilarious. I remember they were hosted on PKIUnlimited.com but what happened to them since then?

Ober Gatlinburg doesnt try to be an amusement park, they're just a tourist attraction. They have like 4 carnival rides, an indor ice skating rink, and the Alpine Slide (which is pretty cool), and the giant cable bus that goes over the smokies. How can that possibly be in the catagory of amusement parks?

Does anyone know what ever happened to these games? Jeff Seiberts Big Adventure? Sorry to revive a dead (very dead) topic but I remember playing the game and really wanted to try it again. If I recall, Jeff Seibert had get the new ride plans back that Cedar Point stole.

Man that guy sure knows how to negotiate. They wont let me take my knife in so I'll become suicidal. That way they'll definately let a suicidal man in with a knife. -

I hardly think that Disney needs to use Busch Gardens as an example. -

I agree that obviously maverick goes over 90° and all but I believe a dive coaster is restricted more to the type of coaster. Obviously trains that hold either 8 or 10 across is a major point aswell as the ever popular holding break before the vertical drop, and then garguantuan inversions [not to mention enormous track pieces]. I'm not sure what Maverick is classified as right now, but I would not consider it a dive coaster. I'm pretty sure B&M are holding onto the Dive Coaster market at the moment.

No problem. If anyone is interested, here is the patent information for Tomb Raider: http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser...=DN/20040192453 If you download it it is in .tiff format so you may have to download a reader. Here's an example of the images:

Yea but unfortunately now for "safety reasons" they have to keep the house lights on in the hanger. Kinda takes away from the effect of when the lights would all go out.
-
Because people also said "aw the loop isnt wood, it's steel. Thats Cheating! Boo! It doesnt have a wooden loop it has a steel loop!" reguardless of the fact that it still had wooden rails running inside it. That and money.

My Opinion on the Future of Cedar Fair
DeLorean Rider replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I agree pretty much across the board with everything you just said. I think that every bit of your 1-5 list needs to be emphasized 100 fold at Kings Island. I think it's pretty obviously that so far, Kings Islands been lacking in each and every area listed. Oh well I guess its just "not in the budget" for guests to enjoy themselves. I wish I had something more profound to say but... its early. On a side note, back in 200_ when ever the metal dectors were added, did you know that Kings Island did a large research study with people from all over the surounding areas about how they felt about Kings Island's security. The result of this study was several changes most notably metal dectors. Not because Kings Island felt that bad people were coming to the park, but because guests requested them, and felt more comfortable once inside the gates having passed through security. -
I doubt it, it looks a lot better than an empty room.
-
Oh just some things...
-
No you're both wrong, they just replaced drop zones breaks with fin brakes similar to the coasters...

Because my post was not all about you. Did I ever say you were wrong, no. I quoted you because I agreed with some of the things you said AND because you asked about the steam. It was SOB_TOM who mentioned the person that I was speaking of the "master-board". Also if you read, all I said was, In addition I was trying to say that the reason that the ride is down does not have to do with a problem within the PLC, "there was no ONE master board that just "went out." In addition I wasnt trying to prove that there werent cabinets full of boards and relays on it, I was trying to say that the problem was not within the relay cabinets. BOTTOM LINE: The ride has many cabinets filled with relays, wires, and boards that are all programmed through a desktop computer with the ride program on it. Every time the ride runs the computer watches to make sure the ride hits every mark, doesnt trip any faults, doesnt exert to much power etc. Currently Tomb Raider the Rides problems, lie outside the realm of computer problems. Their current issues are a much more... mechanical...

Volunteers RARELY get sent to rides, doesnt mean it doesnt happen, it's just rare. As far as what they do, they're usually restricted to non-hands on work, ie greeter, separator, etc. EVEN volunteers get paid, however it is not them who recieves the money it is the organization they are volunteeing for. Kings Island would still have to pay a volunteer to work antechamber. A single position in rides costs about $14,000 to run per year, not having antechamber saves KI $14,000 no matter who were to run it.
