So it will be: The New Guys Cedar Fairs Paramounts Kings Island. Well we might as well start changing the url again, lol. The only reason I would think attendance is low is because it seems to be a trend that when a park gets new ownership attendance goes down. Just look at Geauga lake in its first CF year. Obviously I dont have proof of KI's low attendance.

At the moment it does not appear as though the side B will be operable as it has been almost completely stripped for parts, (hydrolics, seat motors, etc). In addition the control panel and screen have been removed and any remaining controls do not work. They have never done this in the past so if they expect to get side B even working by next year, they've got their work cut out for them; unlikely. It is likely that this year they will do what was done in 2003 and other years which was close spongebob at 5:00ish then run out the line and re-open around 6:00ish with Elvira or whatevery show they have.

How about: NEW OWNERSHIP... AGAIN for 2008

I believe Kings Island needs to be more like Holiday world in conveying the no smoking policy. At Holiday World there are signs everywhere hanging from lamp posts and such saying "Holiday World, Now Smoke-Free!." In addition, though there are less smoking areas, the smoking areas they do have are large patios with tables and umbrellas and benches etc. not just small corners of the different areas where it was convienient to put a smoking box. I can think of at least one place per area at KI where they could have made a large smoking area type patio that didnt require smokers to stand within a 10 foot circle.

they removed King Cobra because they felt that Delerium was a better, more attention grabbing ride, simple as that. They already had the HUSS contract, just needed a place to put it. By removing KC they were able to build a ride that would bring people to the park, and a ride that would make money. To them it was worth it.

Kings Island on "Theme Park Secrets" on the travel channel
DeLorean Rider replied to deb's topic in Kings Island
Man it got so bad to where if there was a light that burnt out, and we could fix it, we did, because no one else would. -
or Ahoy Land Lubbers, Mr. Crabs, today you're gonna learn how to make a crabby patty, now move all the way down to the end of your row filling every available seat, I'm watchin ya, NOW GET GOIN. Makin a crabby patty requires both hands, so place all your loose belongings on the floor infront of you, and it can get pretty rough too, so dont forget to batten yourself down with safety belts. Once seated raise your arms high, so i can get to your wallet, er, ah, check your seatbelts.

The old Jeff seibert smoking was: Please no smoking, as a reminder smoking is not permitted in any line at paramounts Kings Island, thank you for not smoking. Alright stunt team listen up; as with any driving stunt safety first so keep your hands arms and legs inside the car at all times. If you have any loose articles you can leave them with the crew before we roll. ACTION! Hey kids, its time to go flying on pixie and dixies swing set, now hang on tight, here we go! Hello my little pilots, today you're going to fly high and fast into the wild blue yonder hang on tight! Caution, the splash pool depth is only 12 inches. Please remain in your boat untill a life guard assists you at the end of the splash pool. Jeff seibert sounding horse: Welcome to The Beast, please keep hands arms and legs inside the car at all times. thank you. Attention tomb raiders, we are experiencing a temporary delay. A team of experts is checking into the situation. You may wait in line, however we recomend you experience other rides that the park has to offer. (not positive) My personal favorite: (operator humming theme to price is right): Alright tomb raiders! its that time again! time for TOMB RAIDER TRIVIA!!! YAY. In a moment I will ask one single question the first person to raise their hand AND have me call on them with the correct answer will recieve this: (Blank: prize from junk people have left behind). Here's the question (3 rotating questions): What year was tomb raider built/What ride was in Tomb Raiders Location before Tomb Raider/What IS the oldest ride in the park. Congratulations! that is correct! you won this _________. If you'd like we can hold onto the _________ and you can pick it up after you ride, but dont forget it, otherwise it will become a prize for the next: TOMB RAIDER TRIVIA!!!! YAY!!!! ^This was often used if there was a delay in the ride area and the preshow operator had a full room of guests just chillin^ (exclusive to the 2006 season)

This would be a good idea, however TRTR makes some of the most hideous sounds (or at least it used to) when it runs that would probably turn guests away rather than excite them enough to ride it. This nice thing about it being in a building is that the music could easily cover these sounds up. Although it sounds like the music isn't even working now. Very True, and by no means is the word "hideous" an overstatement. Every time the brake calipers lock for about the first 2 hours every morning they screech, not to mention the violent shacking of the entire structure every cycle. And thats when the ride is running correctly...

There are already 2 other topics about this.

There would be so many people that would expect KI to have mickey mouse and donald etc. and not having them would probably make things worse. Little kids would wonder why they were going to the disney island and cant find any of their disney friends.

Oh come on... You think this is off topic, you should see some of the off topic tangents that these threads get into. Like the topic where everyone thought Vortex was sinking, then it turned into talking about how a park in japan had cheated their way into getting the worlds longest coaster while steel dragon was down. Thats half the fun. If the majority of the posts are off topic, then yes, the thread has gone the wrong way but otherwise no biggie.

Disney would not be able to put just "a little" effort into a park. With disney its all or none. Mainly its all. Not to mention disney could not own CF and keep it a complete secret. Trying to would just make things worse because then people would expect great things from the 11 parks and if disney did not produce, it would tarnish the disney name and make all of disney look bad.

No its always 180° becasue the majority of winds move east and west. The winds to the north and south are so rare that they are negligable. It was a north and south wind that knocked over the old sign.

Paramount never repaired any of the burnt out lights either. The only time a light gets replaced is if it's vital to the operation, such as a light that shines on the gondola. I can tell you from first hand experience that when the steemers, misters, and foggers are all on in the main show area, it all lingers, and that it is constantly damp in there. Not to mention KI's water has a very large amount of calcium in it.

I cast my vote for absolutely not. The specalty of going to a disney park is that there isnt one right around every corner. The reason Walt Disney purchased 42 square miles, (2 times the size of manhattan if you cant fatham that) is because he wanted Walt Disney World to be cut off from the rest of the world. There is a famous example of a family leaving Disneyland at 4:30 because they could see that traffic was building up on the highway from the skyride. In addition the amount of work that would have to be done on the 11 CF parks to make them disney quality would be ridiculous. With Disney rides, its about the experience, how your mind feels and what you think about when your riding an attraction. On a CF ride, its about the forces that your body feels physically. Even Expedition Everest or Mission Space are not about the Gforces, they're about an excursion into the Himalayas and an encounter with the Yetti or a trip through space to mars. In these rides the Gforces arent supposed to be the fun part, they're just supposed to back up the experience unlike on a ride like Vortex, TTD, or Dominator. I believe that Walt Disney would NEVER have wanted his theme parks to relaps into the realm of regional, seasonal theme parks and that it would be an insult to his vision to consider it.

Believe me when I say that there has in the past been serious consideration about removing Tomb Raider from its box and relocating it in the park as an outdoor topspin. Very Serious condieration, the only deturrent was, well what else, money. At the time it wasnt worth the money to try and move the ride so it stayed where it was and now sits. Like I said before, the problem with Tomb Raider is that topspins were never designed to "hit their marks" exactly. Normal topspins, aslong as they run within a certain degree of error, they're fine. What I mean is the program has points that the ride has to hit: brake releases, arm positions, brake closures; and on a normal topspin, as long as it gets close well its fine the ride just goes with it. This also accounts for how the rides can be run both empty and full. Tomb Raider, because not only does it hold more riders than a normal top spin causing the range of weight it has to throw around to be greater, but it also has to operate within a MUCH more precise margin of error than normal topspins because it has to sync up with the show...or former show. See, Kings Dominion was smart, they put their ride outside, and gave it a show that doesnt relate to exact points of the ride. At KI the ice field has to light up, exactly when the ride gets to the ice field, not early or later; at KD the fire just kind of goes off...whenever.

Well some effects thats true like the fog and steam, they just turned it off because fog juice isnt cheep with the quantity that they use, and the steam and mist in the ride, causes corrosion on the ride since the area isnt well ventalated. As for the lights, they're all just burnt out bulbs that they didnt care enough about to replace. The sound, well the sound and show all got re-programed this off season I believe so that the system could be updated. Anyway something isnt right with the program and when the sound was on for a while, it would start to skip/cut out, then it would give the ride a communication error causing all sorts of weird things. Apparently the solution was just to turn it off and fix it "later".

This is pretty severe, this girl will have incredible difficulty walking again, just because she made the decision to try and enjoy the superman tower of power. -
Family Sueing Six Flags
DeLorean Rider replied to Cortney's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yea but i think its going to be difficult to convince anyone that this was the girls fault. Six Flags isnt going to be able to weasle their way out of this. Personally I dont really want to ever ride a Gen II drop ride again. Partly because I think they're rather anticlimatic, and now because of this. Anyone ever ridden Pitfall at Kennywood? Dont get me wrong, I love Kennywood, but some of their maintainence of rides seems a bit sketchy. -
How was your first experience on the "New" Son of Beast?
DeLorean Rider replied to Delirium33's topic in KI Polls
^Agreed It's hard to find a rough wooden coaster at holiday world.
