  1. With Don Helbig the new PR guy, they'll probably try to keep your achievement a secret
  2. So the bunny hill was removed before Flight of Fear was built correct?
  3. You know just a little known trivia fact. The Eiffel Tower gets rotated 180 degrees every 4 years to compensate for the stress from the wind. It is a huge operation when its done but they manage to make it happen. From what I understand the process takes about a day and a half to prep, about a day for the move to take place, then about 2 days to make everything permanent for the next 4 years. The last time it was rotated was in the off season between 04 and 05 so the next time the process is performed should be between 08 and 09.
  4. None of the footers were re-used, that would probably be a structual no no as well as would take some pretty precise designing of Vortex just to save a tiny bit of concrete. The only things from The Bat that were re-used were the station and the access stairs to the mid-break.
  5. In the rides department no cell phones are permitted at the rides. One violation is a write up, 2 is a termination.
  6. 1.2 Million dollar salary. And he never went to college! What the hell am I taking classes for?
  7. The water jets wont be turned back on.
  8. Yea cause you know its just natural for parks to sabatoge their own rides. The sound is not broken on purpose. Do you really think the park would not run the sound if they could. Its like when a ride breaks down and you expect to know when its going to re-open. It'll re open when its fixed, could be ten minutesl, could be ten days. A lot of behind the scenes ride changes were made to TR this past year in terms of the ride itself. As for the sound, well they tried doing too much too fast with the re-programing of the show. Also that "stupid preshow" is there for a reason. It's so that a group can be loaded while a group is on the ride. If you REALLY dont want to watch it and can get all 65 other people to say the same thing then you dont have too, BUT you'll still have to wait the same amount of time because there is a ride going on while you're waiting in that room
  9. Ever wondered what Rockin Roller Coaster at Disney MGM studios looks like?
  10. http://youtube.com/watch?v=GwcqCNiVLbI Racer was turned around to celebrate the parks 10th anniversary, I was always told.
  11. Yea that seems logical. We've put 25million into this ride, lets spend another couple million tearing it down and re-clearing the land so that we have nothing to show for the 30 million dollar dent in our bank account. Or we could hire a company like Intamin to come in and put pre-fab track on so that it will run smooth as millennium force. Not to mention that Son of Beast, looks amazing. It is un-denyable that when you look at Son of Beast from the Eiffel Tower that it looks incredible. If nothing else from an engineering standpoint it is a magnificant structure. Now the ride experience itself may not be great but beside that, Son of Beast has become an Icon of the park and a huge part of the parks skyline. The park has considered full re-tracking before, if it could be executed properly, Son of Beast could still work. Unfortunately obviously this go around, once again, budgets were cut and instead of modifying the track, they modified the trains.
  12. says who, there are many water rides you don't get wet on, you ride on a boat on the river you don't get wet, well unless you have serious problems, For many years amusement parks had water rides including log flumes, which you didn't get drenched on, I really don't mind getting somewhat wet as I said, I just don't want to get squirted in the face after the ride is pretty much over. There are 2 kinds of water rides, ones that get you wet and ones that dont. Kings Islands all get you wet. Now you know.
  13. Okay, we'll put lava lamps in the tunnels to make it like the 60's. I actually spend several hours a day working with black lights. Between repair stages of the turibine engine parts we do FPI Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection where we cover the parts in a fluorescent green spray and let it soak in then clean it in and watch for areas to show up under the black lights. We look for cracks and coatings of different types and material contamination and oxidation etc. The black lights we use however put out VERY little visible light, but when they shine on white or a fluorescent color, they light up like a christmas tree.
  14. Its really a mixed bag with those coasters. When I rode FoF at PKD they stopped us completely then released us. However, on Jokers Jinx at SFA, they do not even have breaks in that section, just a flat piece of track. For those of you who have never seen FoF with the lights on, it looks like this only grey. ^This ride has no mid-course break^
  15. As much as I dont like the idea of the smoothness of the prefabricated wooden intamin track, I think that it's the only way of really preserving SOB. If this current go around of Son of Beast work doesnt work out, I think that thats the only logical next step.
  16. Sure and in theory Face off could be converted to a suspended coaster and racer could be converted to a steel coaster. To answer your question, no they're not. I dont believe any standup coasters have ever made in which the side wheels ran on the inside of the track.
  17. Wouldnt be the first time it's hung.
  18. Tomb Raider has a very rich and vast history.
  19. That was changed last year in the middle of the year when Cedar Fair bought the park. Aparently Cedar Fair likes to have at least one all you can eat restaurant per park. Dont know how much it costs but I believe it is in the low teens.
  20. Yes they were, the ride ran 77 seats untill full season 2004. I rode it many times in 02 and 03 and the ride ran 77 every time. Dont believe me? Watch video.
  21. I was once told that a $7.00 per hour job position at KI costs $14,000 dollars roughly per year to maintain. Security gets paid more than $7.00 per hour so not to say that it's a bad idea, but I pretty sure that in terms of where positions should be added, its probably pretty low on the list. I think the park would rather get steady greeters for all the rides before hand.
  22. So you know the movie never produced a soundtrack and the songs currently being played there bare no refrence to the movie: The Italian Job.
  23. Yea that might be cool... If this was the 60's.
  24. YEA! Whiskey for my men, Beer for my horses!!!
