Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
presto123 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Hello everyone! I've been following this discussion for a while now and felt that I should join. First off, I don't know who will build this coaster, rmc and gci both seem plausible to me. I really don't care as long as it's exciting. With this picture though, I think Greg Scheid is clearly making a reference to the field of dreams teaser that Kings Island posted. With one of the quotes being, "if we build it, they will come." Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You mean field of dreams as far as the massive Cowboy stadium? That this could be a huge coaster after all? On second thought, kids dreaming on a football field. (field of dreams) haha Field of dreams does not sound like a transition coaster. Welcome to the forum. -
GCI going to do an inverted for the first time? I like your lift hill and speed. I said 198(just because), but I could definitely get behind 150.

Is it safe to say this will not be a wooden launch coaster? That would be very expensive and Dollywood is having all kinds of problems with Lightning Rod at the moment. -

I'm torn about possibly bowing out of this thread. KI has done a great job at keeping the lid on this project this time, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that info could leak out. I want to be totally surprised on Thursday night. Hmmmmm..... -
If it's 199 it would be tallest in world.

RMC Height: 198 ft.(tallest wooden coaster record) Speed: 70 Inversions: 2 Length: 3800 Name: Sasquatch or Kodiac I got to be different:)

I always took the hatchet clue to be more of a clue about the coaster being wood than the actual coaster name. You know......chopping down "wood". It didn't look like a tomahawk at all. The Cowboy's clue has me thinking about frontier now, but that doesn't seem to tie into something lurking in the woods clue. What if they are going to call the coaster something like Frontier Run or Wild Wild West and revitalize the train area with the cowboys and indians scenes they used to have that will be visible from the coaster. I don't know....haha. Clues seem to be all over the place. -

Not against GCI, but if KI wanted inversions, why not just hire RMC in the first place? -

Nice catch. I could totally go for 131 hill and 62 MPH. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wodan_Timbur_Coaster -

Are there orange markers anywhere in this area? -

I think it's needed just for a stable construction road to get materials and vehicles through there. -

Your pic seems to jive with this layout probably being right. The area circled is where you saw the orange markers. Coaster would be crossing WWC right there by this layout. I think you're right. Coaster will cross over WWC 4 times or more probably. -

Can you remember where this was exactly? Just after the start or towards finish? Awesome picture. -

Actually the plans include an exploded view of a section which was labeled area of work. This section has exact measurements. Based on this it was possible to get a scale for the layout from a top down perspective. From there you could estimate track length based on other rides. Unless this ride has steep sections of track which is unlikely based on the drawings we have a pretty good idea of a reasonable range for the length. What was your guess for height? Some others speculated really tall based on track layout and typical lift hill angle... -

Yeah...I posted that a while back. I think the current record is 197. I found what looked like a number separate from the white 198 secondson saw because secondson planted 198 in my head. Now it's looking more like 192 so I am done thinking there are hidden numbers. I don't think KI staff would go that far. There have been two posts made with the numbers circled and people still can't see it, so chances are we are seeing what we want to see. haha The lift hill could just be 98 ft as well. I'll wait for the announcement. -

I don't think GCI even does coasters that cost 20 million do they? That's why I'm expecting this coaster to be between 10-13 million. What I'm hoping for is that GCI is shooting for their tallest coaster ever with this project. -

I watched that whole video just last night. It will be an exciting night. I really doubt that they announce any world records with this coaster though. Video presentations will be neat and I love another coaster in Rivertown, so it's all good. -

Question is......how reputable is COASTERnet? If they have a good reputation then good chance the GCI rumors are true. I've seen and commented on a few of their youtube vids and these guys are quite knowledgeable. I would think that they would not post that rumor if they were not pretty sure it's true. They will get blasted if it's not true. I'm thinking it is GCI at this point. -

Nature taking over? Just call the coaster SCHWING! Sorry...had to. This is probably my reaction after hearing the announcement. -

I think of tornado. I threw out Tornado Alley, but I don't see a tornado lurking in the woods. -

I just hope somebody on here gets the name right. That would be cool. Lots of great names have been thrown out there. -

I threw the Kodiak name out way back in this thread. I was wondering why nobody was going the bear route and Grizzly has already been used on a coaster. My other names were Sasquatch and Timber Falls.(before I saw the Lurking In The Woods clue) -
Anybody ever try the pizza challenge? It's a 12 pound pie and if three people can finish it in an hour it's free season tix or something like that. I am a pizza freak. I could give it a run. haha

I'm probably only seeing it because the other poster put 198 in my head. No big deal. GavPenn was talking about a different 198, but this is the last I'm bringing it up because even I can't see KI staff going this far with clues. -

Now it's looking more like a 192 to me. Look right above the white numbers to right of white arrow. There are matching numbers that kind of look like they were done in ink. More likely...I'm just seeing numbers that aren't there. This is the last I'm going to bring up hidden numbers as more than likely there is nothing there. Move along...nothing to see here.
