What exactly is going to happen in HB?
CoastersRZ replied to BarkerCounty182's topic in Coming Attractions
There is not really that much room behind Footlong Express. It is straddled by the entrance and exit ramps of WWC. And behind that are the train tracks and the bridge for WWC`s entrance and exit. If any restaurant is rethemed into a Nick Cafe, I would anticipate it being Wings or one of the existing HB eateries. -
A Special Thank You To Everyone
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Yes. I second Ryan`s comments. Thanks for all those ride ops and other PKI employees who suffered through long hours in the heat dealing with rude, obnoxious and inconsiderate guests! Also, thanks to PKI for giving us the opportunity to partake in awesome event like Beast Bash, the daily walkback to The Beast and even the multiple last rides of the year on The Beast! Your marketing team and guest relations staff does a wondferful job at making us enthusiasts feel welcomed! Thanks to Dan, Dane, Ryan, Bill and all the other administrators on this site for keeping it up and running with as little clutter as possible. I know how long it takes to build a website, and the countless hours you have invested into this site (not to mention the countless hours spent at the park filming video or taking pictures for this site) -
I highly doubt that that is true. Afterall, the nearest park with a B&M is SFKK. And besides, if PKI was willing to fork up the money for a B&M, I`m sure B&M would sell them one. I doubt that any park has exclusitivity rights on ALL B&M coaster in the PKI area. While one park or another may have some sort of exclusitivity rights for a certain B&M ride, I doubt it applies to all their models.

**UPDATE** Let the Winterfest Preparations Begin!
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Actually, didn`t he say some of it was given to the Cincinnati Zoo? I heard him mention something like there have been 25 semi trucks arrive at the park this week with decorations for Winterfest. A couple of updates about Winterfest. The nightly parade will begin at 7:30 and start back by The Beast entrance, work its way next to Swan Lake and by the Eiffel Tower, before ending in Nickelodeon Central. It will feature all new floats, similar to the ones used in the Nick Parade. The festive banners that have returned to the Festhaus will stick around next season in the non-Winterfest portion (minus the holiday lights and theming). The large Q-TV screens in the Festhaus are gone for good. -
No, I didn`t see a little kid with a video camera. I saw a person filming in the Festhaus, but it was an older guy.

As expected the crowds showed up at the park today. The lines weren`t that bad until around 12, but then they started to grow. I walked through HB land (which was a zoo!) and ran into ZosoBeast and his kids. I left the park around 2 due to the lines. Although I got quite a lot of rides in, including a ride on Drop Zone, Face Off, two on The Beast and several other rides. As expected most of the FearFest stuff is gone, with the only hint of it being the remnants of Massacre Manor and the facade of Fear Street. The train was closed today, presumably because it is undergoing its Winterfest transformation. They were installing handrails for the ice rink today, and there are lights on the fountain pedestals now. In addition, the park has added lots of garland and wreaths to the buildings on International Street. The garland has white lights laced throughout it. Also, they have done more work on light show on Swan Lake. They added mulch for a viewing area for the show as well as trimmed several of the trees for a better view, and added speakers for the soud track. You can check out my website for some picture I took today of the WinterFest preparations.

Yikes!!! Start the rain dancing now to let it rain to hopefully scare some of the crowds away.
-
Each person that recieved the newsletter is limited to eight (8) free tickets. Hopefully (but I doubt it) the weather will keep some people away. Expect insanely long lines at the park!

Yep, there are images on here. Der Spinning Keggers 1 Der Spinning Keggers from the Eiffel Tower
-
Actually, I believe that was on the now defunct Der Spinning Keggers, which resided next to the current T-Shirt shop, right past the funnel cake stand and the back side of Viking Fury (next to Bubba Gump`s).
-
I don`t recall Taft producing those shows, but it would make sense to have them filmed at the park then.
-
Yep. They jumped around a lot. But to most people not familiar with PKI, they probably couldn`t tell how randomly they made their way to the front of the park. The thing I find interesting about that show is how everything had a generic name. "The roller coaster" or "the main restaurant." Not once did they mention any of the rides by name, or even that they were at a park called Kings Island. Although you can see the old KI logo on the front of the logs on the Log Flume.
-
No, Paramount did not have a stake in the company back then (which at that time was still Taft Broadcasting). Most likely, the park and Taft worked out some sort of deal to lure The Brady Bunch to film an episode on location in the park. The actors affectionatly refered to the park as the "fishbowl" because of the hoard of people that showed up at the park to watch the filming. You can see several clips where there are walls of people held back by security guards and benches. It is mere coincidence that KI is now owned by Paramount, which just happened to be the same company that produced and distributed the Brady Bunch.
-
And even after they got the camera situation fixed, he still refused to ride any of the rides, including The Racer. Also, you have to laugh at the run through the park to get the plans to the front offices. They zigzag across the park so many times. Still, it is neat that PKI has been featured on two popular shows back in the 1970s.

Winter Fest attraction?
CoastersRZ replied to Face/OffJZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Try using the search button. This has been discussed numerous times, or you can check out PKI`s Winterfest page for all the details, hours and prices. -
Is anyone going to the park this Saturday?
CoastersRZ replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
You can not go to the park on Friday night. Fear Fest is over, and as such, the park will ONLY be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10-6. Don`t count on any free stuff either. Although the Emporium on I-Street had everything marked at 50% off. -

Well, I`ll be up there most likely both days. In part because I do not know how crowded the park will be. They have given away a lot of free tickets for this weekend. Hopfully, the weather wills scare some of those people off. -

The Paramoount Story at PKI was known as Tower Gardens before Paramount bought the park in 1992. Before Tower Gardens, the site was home to the Kings Island Theater, a balloon structure, which housed the Sid and Marty Kroft marrionette puppett shows. The Kroft`s started at Coney Island, and moved with the park to Kings Island. -
Not to mention that several full timers at PKI have been known to read these boards. As they say, those who don`t know tell, and those who know, don`t tell. If you value your job at PKI, you would keep information that isn`t public knowledge to yourself.

This is always a nice way to end the season. I missed last year because of a school field trip up to Boston. I`m looking forward to going to the park both days. Thanks PKI for continuing to offer us enthusiasts these awesome perks!

**UPDATE** Let the Winterfest Preparations Begin!
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I do not know where PKI is getting their decorations from. I know that they have a GE generator behind Wings to power the lights for Holiday Illuminations. -
Now that is funny!
-
What I mean is that instead of the normal four to five swings at full height, it was only making 2 swings at full height. HUSS made them close it? I wonder if Maxair was closed this past weekend as well?
-
Did you ride Delirium this past Friday night? I was at the park then, and it was closed.

Yes, I got a letter from "Craig Ross" which a couple weeks ago. It was more a marketing ploy to hurry up and buy your pass for next season before the price goes up, and your chance to buy cheap Winterfest tickets is gone. In the letter he explained that the cost to pass holders was to keep the park from being flooded with people. They will only admit a certain number of guests into the park each night for Winterfest. I was lucky enough to be able to snatch up some Winterfest tickets at $12.50 a piece, on P&G day back in mid-September, which is the best deal I`ve heard of for Winterfest tickets. Any word on if your parking pass on your season pass will still be valid for Winterfest parking?
