  1. This is always a nice way to end the season. I missed last year because of a school field trip up to Boston. I`m looking forward to going to the park both days. Thanks PKI for continuing to offer us enthusiasts these awesome perks!
  2. I do not know where PKI is getting their decorations from. I know that they have a GE generator behind Wings to power the lights for Holiday Illuminations.
  3. What I mean is that instead of the normal four to five swings at full height, it was only making 2 swings at full height. HUSS made them close it? I wonder if Maxair was closed this past weekend as well?
  4. Did you ride Delirium this past Friday night? I was at the park then, and it was closed.
  5. Yes, I got a letter from "Craig Ross" which a couple weeks ago. It was more a marketing ploy to hurry up and buy your pass for next season before the price goes up, and your chance to buy cheap Winterfest tickets is gone. In the letter he explained that the cost to pass holders was to keep the park from being flooded with people. They will only admit a certain number of guests into the park each night for Winterfest. I was lucky enough to be able to snatch up some Winterfest tickets at $12.50 a piece, on P&G day back in mid-September, which is the best deal I`ve heard of for Winterfest tickets. Any word on if your parking pass on your season pass will still be valid for Winterfest parking?
  6. Well that is what Screamscape is reporting. I think that it will provide a mediocre them at best, especially with a ride like the Disk-O. Apparantly since Paramount Parks will now be in the CBS side of the company, CBS wants to get some of its branding in the park. Next thing you know we will have CSI: The Ride, LOL.
  7. Well, it is still rumors at this point, but they are apparantly going to be getting a Survivor themed Disk-O from Zamperla. Screamscape`s image. The ride to me, by looking at the video on Zamperla`s website looks to be a little bit intense to be going into PKI`s kiddie area. It will be a good fit at PGA though. They better have a hose at the ride, because it definantly looks like ti could be a vomit inducer.
  8. Well, Delirium has had a bad year. It was down most of the summer due to waiting for the arrival of the new gear. It has had sporatic operation since the park went to weekend operations. Not sure if it is a staffing issue, or somehow related to the fact that they shortened the ride cycle. Or maybe, rather, the ride cycle was shortened to prevent a part from wearing and breaking, to avoid it closing down while a new part was installed. It was open last Sunday, when the park was deserted and closed at 4. It definantly wasn`t as fun with the new shorter cycle, but it is still a fun ride.
  9. Did you look at the link I provided or the beforementioned Screamscape rumors about Great America? It will not be an Intamin, I believe, but a Zamperla.
  10. I think the trees in the parking lot were a ncie improvement, which will look nice in a couple of years when they mature. Also, I agree about screwing up some of the traffic flow. (Especially the wierd configuration in the employee lot, and moving the trams and busses to just east of the pass holder lot. However, i applaud the move of paving a path for Gold Pass holders to eliminate the left turn bottle neck that used to occur at the entrance to the Gold Pass Lot. Hopefully, the new Avatar coaster will be more than just a straight course, and will include some turns and fun moments. The ride looks like it could be extremly popular with kids and adults alike, if it is indeed the new Disk-O from Zamperla. Here is Zamperla`s link to the current Disko. The movie they have on their site makes it look like a fun ride. However, it might be a little nauseating for a children`s ride, especially wiht the height requirement of 48" Currently, I believe the highest height requirement is Reptar at 44"
  11. Yep. I stand corrected. That was not in the original annouoncement. But it doesn`t surprise me. I wonder how much they will charge for skating and how much for skates.
  12. Just a minor update. The Animation Station in HB Land is closed, so Jasper081691 you will have to go to the main shop on International Street (the Emporium) to get any HB merchandise they may have. Animation Station is closed because of Winterfest preparations. Apparantly that is going to be used as Santa`s House for Winterfest.
  13. As has been discussed before, the only rides that will be ion operation are the two Carousels (the Grand Carousel and the HB Carousel) the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad as White Christmas Express and Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle will be dressed up for the holidays. Those four rides are the only ones slated to be operating for this Winterfest.
  14. As I understand it, skating on the fountain will be free with admission to WinterFest. If you do not have skates, then you can rent them from the skate rental building (the buildings that you can see in the pictures on the fountains) for a nominal fee). If you have your own skates, you can use those.
  15. The park is really looking nice with all the preparations for Winterfest. Also, the Animation Station has all of its windows covered up as they prepare the inside for Santa`s house. It definantly looks like they are going to bring back WinterFest with lots of cool effects. It is looking great!
  16. Really? I thought that Paramount Parks was based in Charlotte NC. Now I understand they may get concepts from Paramount Pictures out in California, but according to what Rickster said, Paramount Parks is also based out there? What am I missing?
  17. With the last night for Fear Fest, and it being a Saturday, I didn`t expect crowds to be light. I was a little shocked at how light the crowds were on Friday evening. It got quite cold out by midnight on Friday. I had a chilly front seat ride on The Beast about 7 minutes beofre midnight on Friday night. Glad to hear that you had fun on your first FearFest trip! What haunted attraction did you go through?
  18. Last I heard, the rumors were leaning toward the Slime Maze being rethemed to the Spongebob walk through adventure. But I do not know how accurate that rumor is. I also heard that the Slime Maze would be removed for a new Spongebob attraction on that plot of land. I have also heard rumors about a new ride on the Nick Theater site. It would make sense to remove the Slime Maze, as it seems out of place on the dry side of the park. That is prime real estate that could be used by a new ride. Only time will tell what the park has planned.
  19. Yes, The Flinestone`s are still known by kids today. Don`t forget that they had the live action Flinestone`s movie made in the mid 1990`s with John Goodman, Rick Moranis and Rosie O`Donnel (I don`t remember who played Wilma.) However, Nickelodeon shows are the in shows, as opposed to the older HB shows.
  20. Sounds like next weekend has the potential to be extremly crowded! Any news on whether they will once again offer final rides of the season on The Beast like they have done the past couple of years?
  21. Paramount Parks is based in Charlotte, NC, not LA and they are not based in the Paramount Pictures Plaza. Paramount Parks Design and Entertainment comes up with the ideas for the new attractions. Then they turn to ride manufacturers and architectural firms to select a ride and associated buildings that fit the type of attractions they select. For example, Premier Rides designed the track and trains for IJST, while RSL did all the buildings associated with IJST (the station, tunnel, etc.)
  22. Yes, but I believe that locally based RSL Commercial Architecture drew up the plans for the buildings and support structures for IJST (as well as the renovation to Happy Days Diner)> I know RSL has done extensive work at the park (Face Off`s station and queue building, Flight of Fear`s building, the Animation Station in HB, and several buildings out in Boomerang Bay.)
  23. Wow, I was going to say! For me, once the park closes for the season, unless there is a construction tour, I don`t get near the park (in part because I llive in Anderson Township, 25 miles from PKI. With gas the way it is, not exactly worth driving up that far just to look at the park.
  24. Wait. Combat Stupendous, unless I am confused don`t you work on The Beast crew?
