  1. I was amazed to find out how much money some of the games bring in, when I volunteered in the games department Friday! Lets just say that the all time high for one day revenue from games was quite impressive (I was shocked when I heard the amount, which I am not going to reveal). I`m sure from my experience at the games, that while families fontribute a lot to game revenue, a significant portion of the revenue also comes from adults and teens playing the games. Especially teens after the basketballs (BTW, the most popular basketball was Spongebob).
  2. I think that this year`s FearFest has been better than previous ones, at least as far as in park theming and the level of fog on the midways. I also lilke that much of Coney Maul and Rivertown were incoporated in this year`s FearFest.
  3. It is in a great spot right now, surrounded by midways on two sides. The benches outside the Festhaus that are in shade are always full of people watching the ride run. If people aren`t going to ride a ride, at least they can watch it run. Delirium is a fun ride to watch run for people who don`t want to tackle the ride itself. If they moved it over to FoF, sure there would be people still watching the ride, but it wouldn`t be in as prominant location as what it is now.
  4. Your wording and grammer could use a little work. Also, a coast with lots of imnversions is not generally a family ride. Granted, I would, like to see a large new coast at PKI. I think 2007 might be the year for that. I just don`t know how and when they plan on implementing the Addams family theme at PKI. I highly doubt they use the Addams Family theme for the new FX movie that will be coming to all Paramount Parks. They will use the Addams family theme for either new rides, or restaurants, like they might be doiong next season at PCW.
  5. Yes, the Gravity Group only has two coasters to their name, under their current firm`s name. But keep in mind that the Gravity Group consists of the core designers from the defunct CCI, so we should expect the same stellar and smooth rides that we saw from CCI. So in reality, they have a lot more than just two rides to their name, but as far as their current company goes, it has two rides to its name.
  6. I hope that it returns to its normal mode of operation for next season. But you have to wonder. From what I have heard, the main gear was not supposed to develop a crack, especially this early in the ride`s life. Hopefully, what you suggested is true, and not the way the park intends to run the ride in the future to keep future parts from wearing oout in the years to come. Screamingnight, why would you want the park to take down Delirium? It is a fun ride (when it runs its normal cycle) and is positioned in an excellent location. It is one of the best flat rides in the park, now that the Eagles have flown on. But to each their own.
  7. I didn`t notice The Vortex line getting anywhere near the basketball game on Coney by the former Antique Treats stand. But then again, at times, I didn`t really have time to notice or look down that way. And with only two trains on, The Vortex line is a slightly slower moving line.
  8. That is because of the size of your web browser. If your window is too small, you would have a scroll bar across the bottom. Too big, and there is no image to be displayed in the "extra" space so it is filled with a color, that just happens to be black.
  9. Glad you, your wife and Toddler Chef had a fun time! I also stopped by the park today, and got in a couple rides on The Beast and Racer, with a ride each on The Vortex and Adventure Express. The park has added what I assume is more FearFest theming over on the path between Sling Shot and the Festhaus. It is along the same lines of what is in the Cornstalkers area, but without all the cornstalks. It was not on that path last weekend. When I left the park around 4, it was quite crowded, and the cars were still coming into the parking lot!
  10. I`ve heard that it may be more than just a standard spinning mouse. And I`m not talking simply about the track layout.
  11. Yes, the Delirium ride cycle is now shorter. It only makes two swings at full height as opposed to the four or five that it used to make. I haven`t riden it with the new shorter cycle, but wonder why the park has decided to do this. Son of Beast will have some retracking done, although I highly doubt it will be a complete retracking.
  12. But you would then have to have the ride insured and inspected by the state of Ohio, unless it was for your personal enjoyment (although the state may still require that it be inspected and certified).
  13. Not to mention too lazy to reread your post for errors, or typos. Some of your sentences do not make much sense. And the attraction rating are based on numbers, not letters as I believe you infer to in your post Thrillsareparamount.
  14. I`m not to sure how many existing attractions are actually leaving other than SGC. Keep in mind they mentioned a Spongebob and Dora themed neighborhood in Nickelodeon Central. This could be the area of some of the existing attractions. It would be great if they did sell some of the rides, if Coney bought them, especially if it is a ride like the Whip or tumble bug. Those rides are classics (as are the handcars) and I believe that those rides can trace their roots back to the original Coney Island pre-1972.
  15. Yes, the Thornberrys is a classic flume that doesn`t get you too wet (unless that darn elephant is aiming for your log). Thornberrys is short but fun. I`d have to say WWC is the best water ride in the park. It gets you incredibly wet, and offers a slightly different experience every time you ride it. Another thing that is cool about that ride is that, as Boddah1994 mentioned, it is entirely hidden in the woods. The woods are so thick around the ride that it can`t be seen from the Eiffel Tower! On a sad note, Cedar Point announced today that they will be removing their White Water Landind, an Arrow Hydraflume, similar to what Kenton`s Cove Keelboat Canal was.
  16. No, I was up there on Friday night (to a very deserted park). The two open arches on the left(where water flows in and out) to the pump house (The International Bandstand) appeared to be covered from behind with plywood painted white. I`m assuming that this is part of the winterization of the pump house/ hiding the inner working for the ice skating rink. Other than that, all the nozzles and lights remain in their current position, with no signs of the rink or visible changes.
  17. I`ve never heard that idea before. And besides with PKI intense off season deconstructive maintenance program, they would have to then close some rides down in the summer, ala Disney. Another problem with year round operation, is employees. A. They already have a problem getting employees to cover the shifts and hours they are currently open, let alone all year. But that brings up another problem. PKI`s associates are considered seasonal, and as such are hired again every year in the spring, and then let go at the end of the season. I believe that this year, they forbid any seasonal employee from working until March, because they have to be off something like two months a year to be considered seasonal. If they aren`t seasonal, then insurance and overtime rates kick in. And with how many hours some people at PKI work (50-60+) that would be a lot of overtime pay. Heck, even at Coney, they work the rides employees to death. My brother worked a 65 hour week in the summer. Yes, it seems like they have been cutting back the hours on the first weekend in November. In 2003, they held FearFest that night, so the park was open really late on that last weekend. Well, enjoy the upcoming weekends at the park riding the roller coaster, before they close until April.
  18. Yep, the last day for Fear Fest and all the haunts will be Saturday the 29th of October. The Nick or Treat festivities will conclude on Sunday the 30th. The park will be open the following weekend from 10-6 but no FearFest attractions will be open. In fact, I would imagine most if not all of the FearFest stuff will be gone, and possibly some preparations for Winterfest will be present (besides the already drained and under conversion Royal Fountain)
  19. I was just on the IAAPA website (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) and found something interesting. Will Koch is on their board of directors for the 2006 season. Also, Vic Nolting, the general manager of Coney Island, is also on the board of directors in 2006. In 2007, Jim Seay, the CEO of Premier Rides is on the board, as is Al Weber, the CEO of Paramount Parks. IAAPA
  20. Yes, it is. But of the rides that have been at PKI (in the last ten years) that were relocated from Coney do not date back that far. The Carousel is the oldest ride in the park and that dates to 1926. Now, I know that Fantasy Farm, which used to be up by Lesourdsville Lake, closed in 1991. Coney Island bought there Tilt-A-Whirl and Skyfighters ride. Of which, the latter one no longer exists at Coney anymore.
  21. No, I highly doubt any rides from Chester Park ever operated at Kings Island. Chester Park closed in 1935, and the last of its rides closed in 1941. You can find out more about the park, along with some images of it here.
  22. Yeah. Its ashame Park River Corporation (owned by Mrs. Walker), the company that owns Coney Island, sold the park. They apparantly sunk a lot of money into park infrastructure and saw little return on their investment and from what I have heard had a hard time finding good workers for the park. If only they had held onto it, the park still might be open. Hopefully, the park will once again open up so visitors can ride some of its classic rides.
  23. That is not one of the park`s better catch phrases. Gotta love the where`s Timmy line from the commercial though. I believe most of PKI`s commercials are produced by a seperate company not affiliated with Paramount Parks. With the exception of some corporate commercials (like what they were filming for in September).
  24. Yes, Scooby will remain in his castle as the last ride themed to HB left in the park. There was a rumor that Paramount`s Great America would be recieving a dark ride themed to Spongebob, but to my knowledge that has remained only a rumor.
  25. Yes, it seems they have a lot of new images on the attractions page, which is good. However, a lot of the images are not from PKI. The image for Face Off is Invertigo at PGA. Also, the image for The Beast is of one of the other junior woodies at another Paramount Park. Also, in the Yogi`s Sky Tour ride, you can clearly see Carawinds` observation tower.
