Beast Bash 2005 & Fearfest!
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
No problem! When we were using our tickets for Fear Street, there were people complaining in the standby line because they were only letting people in from the speed lane and not the regular line. So, if you wish to do Fear Street, it definantly would be wise to get the speedlane ticket! -
Fun House is not 3d. It is a fun little ride though. Both movies are far better than Dracula`s Castle that they had on side B last year!

Beast Bash 2005 & Fearfest!
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
The walk on tickets are available to anyone for use on the Fear Street and Headless Hollow attractions. For Fear Street, there is a standby line, but they let a majority of the people with the passes enter before the standby lane. Which means it is best to get a ticket. They are available right by the Scarmbler exit, with the ticket entrance located back behind the Scrambler drive box. For Headless Hollow, only guests with a ticket can board the train for the haunt. Tickets are available in front of the train station. Any one can get the tickets on a first come first serve basis. -
But in order to get the free gold upgrades, didn`t you have to purchase the pass on or before Labor day weekend? I know that in order to obtain free parking you MUST have your pass processed by the end of park close on the last day of the regular season (the 6th of November, when the park closes at 6pm (there are no FearFest or Nick or Treat activities that weekend).

They had more of the old Phantom Theater animatronics in the line this year than they did last year. The only disappointing thing is last year they actually had a couple of them operating! This year they were all just sitting there. They were playing the Phantom Theater music in the line and theaters though.

There is a sign right in front of the train station, and all the other haunts for that matter. It says something to the effect of Warning: Artificial fog and special lighting effects are used on this attraction. Also, it warns that kids under 12 should not partake in the haunts. I saw numerous small kids in the 5-8 range (or younger) walking through CornSTALKERS crying with fright from the scaracters.
-
Well when I went through Cornstalkers, the actors were jumping out at people and us, and following people. In parts of CornStalkers, the fog was also extremly thick, and you had to stop and wait for the fog to clear to make sure the people who were ahead of you had moved on and also weren`t still standing there. Yes, the bridge on Headless Hollow was pretty disorienting as well with the fog.
-
The one problem I had with Headless Hollow, was that there were long dead spots, where it seemed there should have been scaracters. It was as if they didn`t have enough scaracters working the haunt. Not to mention that the ending was very anti-climatic and not very scary. Cornstalkers was realyl good, especially with the amount of fog they had, you would become disoriented just with the fog, not to mention the scaracters in there.

Yeah, I hope to hang out with you again sometime at PKI. Yes, the day went by extremly fast, especially since we were there for almost 15 hours!

I got to the park at 9am, and registered. At 9:15, Jeff Siebert walked us back to the Carousel to regroup. He informed us that Son of Beast will be down for the rest of the season as they start its offseason rehab early (they have less time with Winterfest). Also, the Royal Fountain has been drained in preparation for it to become an ice skating rink at Winterfest. After the brief talk at the Carousel, we proceeded to Flight of Fear at 9:30. In half an hour, I managed to get in 8 rides, seven of which the lights were on. After that, the park was open and I grabbed a couple quick rides. Delirium was down all day today! At 11:30, it was time for our lights on tour of Maze of Madness. Even with the lights on, it was disorienting. Then they turned the lights out and let us go back throough it with the effects on. Still very confusing. Especially since the actors can move sections of the maze with movable gates! Then it was on to Psycho Path, followed by more rides. In the Grove I met up with Ryan (Boddah1994), Bill (ZosoBeast), and Dane. At 5, we got the typical behind the scenes Beast tour, but this was a first for me. Very neat seeing The Beast from those vantage points. We did the haunts that were included with our EHT. Headless Hollow was cool, but there were many dead spots that could have benefited from some more scaracters. Dane left around 10:30. We rode The Vortex right before midnight, and saw Adam (Klockster) working. Adam even took The Vortex for a test ride with us. Then it was on to The Beast ERT, with 4 night rides on The Beast. A long, but fun day at the park. It was nice hanging out with the PKIC gang. Even if some of them snuck off to go on a train tour, LOL!

Yes, the fog was amazing. It was especially thick in the cornstalkers path, where at time you could not see more than a few feet in front of you! Also, in one of the better points of Headless Hollow, they had the bridge (over the WWC trough) covered in fog, so that you could not see more than a foot in front of you, which was disorienting. Unfortunatly, the fog drifted out into the parking lot and 71, and not back towards The Beast!

PKIC is more reliable than the server at my work, and it is a brand new server! Its either internet, or email or the Cadd hardrive going down. It`s almost as bad as the server at school, which used to crash almost every day for hours at a time, in the middle of professors giving lectures. Then Apple came in and fixed it, for the time being anyway.
-
Don`t forget, Beast Bash is tomorrow! Registration begins at 9am. Lights on Flight of Fear ERT begins at 9:30 (walk back to FoF around 9:15). I got an email from Russ today, and the lunch is now included for people (like me) who are registering at the park tomorrow. $20 for people with a Paramount Park season pass and an ACE membership. I will be there at 9am!

Yes, I believe the site was down. I could not get on when I got home from work at 5:45, the site wouldn`t load, and Safari would return an error message saying the server could not be reached. It was just a temporary glitch, and everything is fine and running smoothly now!

The building is still there, and it is located next to the bathrooms by The Vortex exit. It was used for the Lazer Tag attraction until this season. The new squirt racing game that they put in sits in front of what used to be the queue and entrance to the Cinema 180.

Mission Impossible Stunt Spectacular
CoastersRZ replied to Skippy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
But does this mean that this is their sole new attraction for the 2006 season? -
I wonder if Skyline will be there permanantly now, or if it is just temporary through Winterfest. I remember hearing that they would have a Skyline open on International Street for Winterfest. It seems odd that it would be permanent since they already have the one in Coney Mall, and then they have the footlong express and Coney Skyline stand by the White Water Canyon entrance and exits. Great pictures!

PKIC Layout Suggestions
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Or one to commemorate the approaching return of Winterfest! Save the bright colors for after Winterfest when we finally hit the long off season when we can`t visit the park and ride at least a couple rides! -
My guess would be that they add some Christmas or winter related elements to it. For example in Winterfests of years past, they added scarfs and hats to the chracters on the Hanna Barbera Carousel. On the Grand Carousel, they played Christmas carols on the band organ (hopefully they still have those rolls and will do that this year!) I do not know exactly how they plan to change Scooby. Don`t anticipate any drastic changes though.

PKIC Layout Suggestions
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Well, things do need to be changed and updated eventually. After a while they become stale and old. But I do not think that this was a positive step forward. But after a week or so, it might grow on me. It is just quite a bit different than what it was. -
PKIC Layout Suggestions
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Yeah, I do not like the new homepage layout either. To me, it does not fit in with this being a PKI fan site. While I understand it is to celebrate FearFest, I feel that there could have been better interpretations of it. That face is a little freaky. But to each their own. It is nice to see an update to the background of the main page though. -
I know that those are a part of Rivertown. But if they retheme Wings to the Nick Cafe, they will be cut off from the rest of Rivertown. Wings, is right across from WTRA. Retheming Wings into the Nick Cafe would mean that those buildings would be in Nick Universe, and not Rivertown anymore.
-
Headless Hollow is the name of the haunt on the train. Yes, CornSTALKERS is the name of the scare zone in Rivertown. I would imagine they might have a couple scaracters roaming the midway as well. From What I understand, Maze of Madness, Fear Street and Psycho Path have had some props and effects added from the defunct Curse of the Crypt. Not sure if any changes were made to Massacre Manor. It takes a train 5-7 minutes to return, when Boomerang Bay is not operational. Also, I will assume that they will have both trains running, pulling two or three cars only. (They normally pull six). I know when I rode the Pumpkin Patch Express back in 2003, (when they would stop at the pumpkin patch and the picnic grove) they had both trains running with three cars. It all depends where exactly they stop the train. No, you will not have to go into the trough to get to the WWC exit. Regardless, guests will have to cross the tracks at some point as guests can only disembark from the left side.

Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
CoastersRZ replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
That is the one thing about the expansion. What will happen to the Nick Theater. It sits on a pretty sizable piece of real estate. Not to mention if they remove Scooby`s Ghoster Coaster, and a couple of the kiddy rides back there. Although, they will still have to maintain a path back to Boomerang Bay. -
Well, there is already a Krusty Krab Snack Shak, located right by Runaway Reptar`s exit (on the left side by the Nick Theater). I would assume that if a Nick Cafe comes, that it would occupy the spot of Wings. But I don`t know what they would do to the Rivertown themed buildings on the back side of Oscars by the Backporch Stage.
