  1. Yes, the park is open to the public, but it is not "free." If you have a season pass you can get in "free" like normal. Otherwise, you will have to pay the regular general admission price. (Which I`m assuming you knew).
  2. While they are still probably working oout some theming details, I am sure that they know who the manufacturer of the new roller coaster will be. The real reason why I believe they are releaseing all the details after Winterfest, is to have an announcement in January to get people interested in the new expansion and get people to buy passes in the winter months. With the announcemnt this week, they are getting peopple to buy passes before the end of the operating season. Essentially, they are making two announcements about the same thing to get their name out their among people that are interested in purchasing their passes. Like a two for the price of one type deal.
  3. One would have thought that if they were not going to use the land for banquets that they would have tried to sell the land off. Which they might just be doing and no one wants to purchase the land.
  4. I believe that 2009 was the end of the contract. Also, they will be keeping the Scooby Doo meet and greet for next season. They have a seperate contract for Scooby Doo from Sally Dark Rides, which is why that ride will be the only traces left from Hanna Barbera.
  5. Well, technically, we haven`t seen exactly what the park has planned for the revamped area. They gave some very general descriptions, but then said that the rest of the details on the new rides and area would be released after Winterfest.
  6. I thought that they were going to be using the banquet halls to cater special events and such, since the owners decided running the waterpark was not a profitable venture in Cincinnati`s saturated waterpark market. I guess they decided not to do that. It was still nice of The Beach to honor Surf Cincinnati passes that had been bought for the upcoming season after Surf Cincinnati announced that they would close down.
  7. No kidding. This and the Italian Job thread that you bumped are both rather old topics, and not exactly relevent in September of 2005.

  9. No, that was not the reason for it. I heard what the cause of it was, and I was a little surprised at what actually was causing it and I will leave it at that. While The Vortex crew is good. They couldn`t have been that quick at dispatching trains, even on a dead day like that. Sometimes the train was stuck up there for 30 seconds or more!
  10. That actually might be what they are doing. Did you notice, that they said there would be a Spongebob and Dora Neighborhood within the Nick Universe area. Retheme small sections of the area to those cartoons within the larger Nick theming.
  11. He brings up a good point. Kids will love the expansion because they will be able to ride rides that are named/themed after shows they see on television. It is the same thing now with Nickelodeon as it was with Hanna Barbera back in the `70s and `80s. The new addition will definantly bring in the families with young children! And lets not forget that the park is adding a new roller coaster too, for the second year in a row!
  12. UncleHenry, I know adults can ride WITH their children on Huck`s Hot Rods, aka the car ride by Hampton (I did not know that at KI they let adults ride on it). The Hampton ride at Coney is the same way and we do allow adults to ride it with the kids). I am confused with what the park considers "new." While I hope that they keep the trains (for Dora) and the tumble Bug (presumably the Blue`s Clues ride). I wonder why they consider those rides, (the Plankton ride included) as new rides, but not the Jimmy Nuetron bumper cars or Nick-Go-Round as new attractions. Personally, I hope that the water maze does not return. I have never done it, and it seems out of place on the dry side of the park anyway. It would be cool to have a large Spongebob "walkthrough" attraction although a dark ride with vehicles would be better IMO. However, the park might also be using some of the space from the Nick Theater for the new coaster that will replace SGC. That is assuming that the Nick Theater is in fact leaving.
  13. Well, look at Paramount with IJST and IJSC, all three are presumably copies of each other. Not to mention the Flight of Fears, Top Gun/Vortex at PCW, among others.
  14. I see. I never watched Angry Beavers. While I could see how that would make it a more entertaining ride. It is already entertaining by the fact that you are getting drenched around everyturn. If it was themed well and had a good storyling to it, then it woould be worth it. But without a good story line, aka the theming on Wild Thornberrys River Adventure, than I could do without.
  15. Yes, I think Wings will be rethemed to the NickToons Cafe. I don`t think the park should mess with WWC though. While the Popeye ride down at Islands of Adventure was fun. it was all in the open. I like how WWC is hidden back in the trees. It makes it feel like you are actually White Water rafting. Yes the theming to the Green Slime Maze is probably going to be similar to what they do at PKI, only theming it to Spongebob.
  16. Other than a new movie in the FX Theater and possibly the Mission Impossible Stunt Show (if that show is a traveling one like the Nick Parade, otherwise that will be exclusive to Canada`s Wonderland) there will be nothing new at PKI in 2006.
  17. Wonderland is getting the Mission Impossible Stunt Show, and I believe the Nickelodeon Parade for the first time next summer. I am surprised that Carowinds` Boomerang Bay lacks a large signature attraction like PKI`s has with Tasmanian Typhoon. But, I`m sure the additions that they add will be appreciated down in the Carolinas!
  18. From what I understand, the Spongebob attraction will simply be a sprucing up of the Water maze, with theming effects added. Dora`s ride, I have heard will be brand NEW, but it could be the rethemed train cars back by SGC. Now, there is quite a lot of room back by SGC if they remove several of the rides back there like the lilttle train cars, Dick Dastardlyt`s biplanes, and some of the games buildings back there. I believe we will see a spinning coaster of some kind. If it is anything like Primeval Whirl at Disney`s Animal Kingdom, it will be a hit among the young and old! I`m sure I`ll love that ride if it is anywhere near as fun as the one at Disney. SGC was a victim of very low capacity, and to me, was a rough, not very fun or thrilling ride, when I took my only flight on it back in October of 2000. I`m not sad to see it go, and quite frankly, I`m sure most kids won`t be that upset. The park has confirmed that SGC will not be returning. I personally think it is a mistake to retheme The Beastie. Why mess with a ride that has a "relationship" to the ride that put the park in the national spotlight. But I guess they are trying to make it fit in with the area. I am glad to see that the Boulder Bumpers and HB Carousel will be back. As for retheming that ride. They most likely will buy new "horses" from Chance, the maker of the ride, to theme it to Nickelodeon. Currently, Yogi Bear, Jabber Jaws and other HB characters call that ride home. The one thing that has me slightly worried is that one of the article says "that all the rides will be able to be ridden by children and adults" Now I know that the bumper car ride is not one of those. But does this mean that all the kid only rides will be leaving? If so, PKI is making a big mistake! The Hampton car ride, Chance helicopter ride, tumble bug, whip and the handcars are classic. Even Coney has some of these basic rides that only kids can enjoy (helicopters, Hampton car ride) Also, don`t count on seeing a ride exactly like the Scream Machine at Coney. While that matches the description, it has a height requirement of 48" because of the OTSRs that it has (which make you hands all black after checking the bars for five hours). Overall, next season looks to be a very successful one at PKI, with the new area, and new movie in the FX Theater (that is all the park is getting as far as new attractions). I do not know if the Mission Impossible stunt show that is up at Wonderland will be a traveling show or not like the Nick Parade. It is a little surprising that Spongebob does not get his own signature ride in the new area but oh well! I am already looking forward to the new family coaster. And hopefully the park will reward us coaster enthusiasts in 2007 like others have said to commemorate the ACE Coaster Con. But first lets get through FearFest and Winterfest! The end of my ridiculously long post!
  19. I do not think Cedar Fair will head down the same path that Six Flags did. The main reason being that they pride themselves on remaining profitable (and increasing the performance for their stock). Cedar Fair knows that the essence and vitality of their parks are the guests that come and spend money in their parks. THey know that they have to please these guests to keep them spending money at their properties. That is the chief difference between Six Flags, and Cedar Fair. While expanding may hinder them from posted as high of earnings, they know how to run a park successfully, and I am sure if they are interested, they will make it work for their interest, or face the wrath of their shareholders.
  20. Well there are no tours of rides, persey. There is the lights on ERT on Flight of Fear from 9:30-10am. Then there are the lights on tousr of the two haunts, Maze of Madness and Psycho Path. Don`t forget about the reservations (exclusive haunt time) for Fear Street and Headless Hollow.
  21. It was because P&G was a primary sponsor of that "exhibit," which I imagine is some sort of traveling exhibit. On the sides of the court, there were banners with the P&G logo, and several P&G brands.
  22. I take offense to that statement! I am only 160 lbs, and do not consider myself fat. Although, there are several ACE members who fit the "Riders with unusual body proportions may not be able to ride" bill.
  23. I would like to go. But seeing as how that is the first of Coney`s last day open to the public, I will most likely be working that entire weekend (from 2-8) and the following weekend. Hopefully, I can get Saturday off so I can go. I`ve never been to an official event, even though I have been an ACE member since 2001.
  24. Yep. Holiday World is sure to have two huge winners on their hands next season. Just look how popular SDATHC is with the kids! On a side note, I am becoming less and less willing to ride SoB. Because when ever I go on it, I come off aching from the rough ride. Ever notice how it has really short llines anymore? The park needs to do some work on it, or I believe it will eventually be removed due to low ridership/high maintenance costs. Unless they retrofit it with the Intamin plu and play track! (One can dream can`t he?)
  25. Yeah that would be awesome. But, the supports for both The Vortex and The Eiffel Tower were made at SOFCO in Batavia. So it has happened before, just not with the graceful structures of a B&M.
