  1. Yes, Face Off IMO, is one of the underrated rides at PKI. True its capacity is nothing to write home about. But the ride is in general a very smooth ride. The g forces on the ride are quite powerful. This ride doesn`t waste time with "cute" turns and little drops. It is all aboout the loops and the two hills that get the trains up to speed to clear the inversions. The ride is definantly a unique ride experience.
  2. BeastBuzz has already occured this year, it was back around the 18th of June. Last year the Southwest Ohio Region of ACE in coordination with the Great Ohio Coast Club I believe held Fall Freak Out last October. From what I heard, that even was a huge success. I did not attend due to a lot of work at school. Does any one know if this event will be back again this year, (a new annual event?) or if it was a one time event?
  3. Actually, that man made brook that starts out by the train station and Wings dumps into Swan Lake. Sometimes, you will notice that they have the pumps turned off to the brook, and hence, there is no water in running down it.
  4. The Swan Lake water show will be located on Swan Lake of course. Seriously though, Swan Lake is the lake that is located across from the Rivertown LaRosa`s and the Rivertown restrooms and behind Paradise Island treats.
  5. Well, I have used my season pass at Carowinds in 2003, and they did not accept the parking because it was from PKI. I do not believe the gold pass perks are supposed to be available to other Paramount Park pass holders. For example, I know when I have picked up my walk on weekend tickets, they have scanned my season pass before.
  6. screamingnight, you will actually be able to ride some rides. The Carousel, the Hanna Barbera Carousel, White Christmas Express (aka the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad) and a Christmasized version of Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle.
  7. But do we know that they will only be adding a ride for the family crowd??
  8. Yes, construction started around July on TR:TR. By October, they had a large portion of the building erected. Kenton`s Cove Keelboat Canal was dismanteled after the park had opened for the 2001 season. Although, the ride did not operate the last couple weeks of the 2000 season.
  9. Yes, all perks, and parking passes are good at the park that issued the pass. Currently, in order to enter another Paramount Park, you must show your season pass to the Guest Relations window to get a ticket to enter the park. The turnstiles as of yet do not recognise passes from other Paramount Parks (although I heard that they may be looking into doing this in the future). Why do people call Paramount`s Carowinds PCW? It get confusing when refering to the park north of the border that is PCW: Paramount Canada`s Wonderland.
  10. They are open daily through Sunday the 28th of August. However, that last week they are open, they are only open until 8pm on the weekdays. They will then also be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend.
  11. It has been going by extremly fast for me, because I am in school this summer. Labor day weekend I will be donw with school and have two weeks off of school and co-oping! I haven`t had more than a weekend, or holiday off since March 28th! Time sure flies when you are busy!
  12. You can think of the cost of admission the rate of a room for a night. But the rate at the hotel will be more than your average Holiday Inn or Econolodge, because of the indoor waterpark. Essentially, they rely on the waterpark to incrase the desirability and demand of the hotel to get people to pay higher prices for rooms.
  13. I don`t know. I had about as much fun on Ricochet at Carowinds as I did on Top Gun at Carowinds. Ricochet (similar to Primeval Whirl at Disney`s Animal Kingdom) is your standard spinning wild mouse, with quick turns and sudden drops. Throw in the spinning action of thecar as you go down drops and turns, and it is one, disorienting and fun ride.
  14. That there is the key. If they find an article with no form of identification, then it will inherently be more difficult to contact the owner of that article.
  15. Well, you can call the park tomorrow to see if any telephones were turned in or found. Other wise, you may be out of luck. They say to secure loose articles for a reason. I have one of those cell phone cases that clips onto your belt, with a velcro top to it. Whenever I go to PKI, I wear pants with zipper pockets and put my phone in there, because I do not trust the velcro to hold!
  16. Yes, I have been to Carowinfs, two time in fact. In 2001 and again in 2003. If PKI had a ride like Top Gun at Carowinds, aka a B&M inverted, PKI would have one popular ride on their hands! I could ride the Top Gun down there all day and never get bored. While it is somewhat short, it is non stop thrills that never slow down until you hit the brakes at the end. One can dream of the day PKI decides to install one of these fine works of art from our friends at B&M. Ricochet is also a fun little coaster, that would fit perfectly in the nice plot of land where the Salt water circus once resided. If you have a PKI pass, definantly try to make a visit down to Carowinds, you won`t be disappointed. Just be careful of the rain. They tend to be more sensitive to rain and shutting down rides then what PKI is, unless that was just a rare incidence with me. (They shut down the entire park three hours early in July because they were expecting to get some heavy rains.)
  17. I thouroughly enjoyed Millenium Forze, with its non stop speed, and that first drop is incredible. I prefered MF over Top Thrill Dragster, simply because MF was longer (ie more bang for the long wait in line). Now Top Thrill was an incredible ride experience, being catapulted up to 120 mph, and up a 420` is something that one does not do everyday. So to each their own, but I foound both to be enjoyable.
  18. Yep. They switched over in the late 80`s or early 90`s I believe. The trains still had the old buzzbars in 1987, as demonstrated in this 1987 image on RCDB of The Racer.
  19. According to the press release, it is slated for a late 2006 debut. Probably right in time for either Fear Fest or Winterfest next fall. Which, as some rumors have stated is one of the reasons Winterfest is returning, to encourage guests to stay in the resort during the month of December.
  20. I`ve never been on a ride like Delirium where the seats face inward. Personally, I like being able to look out on Delirium and see the Eiffel Tower from a wierd, semi-upside down angle.
  21. Well from my experience at Coney, which is a lot smaller park, often times we would have to shut down a ride while we cleaned up a protein spill, which depending on the ride could take some time, since none of the rides have hoses. (Timt to get the pan and broom out). Othertimes some of the rides are closed (especially the last week in August when the rides are open, because we are so short staffed. In August last year I think we had twelve people in the rides department running rides. I was with another person running the Python and the Bobs. We would run the ride for a couple cycles then switch. We were so short staffed that day that our break people were the President and Vice President of operations! In most cases people do not need to know what is wrong with a ride if it is closed. A perfect example is the last seat on the Python at Coney, we are directed to not load people in the last row. People all the time would ask why, especially on busy days. If you have riden the coaster, you can understand why it is not loaded.
  22. I thought that the Great Wolf Lodge was planning on opening in Late 2006.
  23. I didn`t even know such a site existed. Interesting. You learn something new everyday!
  24. Since they went to the three bench PTCs on The Beast, it has had the same trains. Although, they have been modified since then. Replacing the buzz bars with the individual lap bars, adding at first the headrests with three slits, then a solid headrest. The most recent changes include adding the seatbelts and the installation of the brake fin on the bottom of the trains.
  25. Yes, the congestion on that midway is terrible, especially on busy days. People have a tendency to just stop in the middle of the path, not realizing that the people wallking behind them want to get through. Other than relocating the slingshot, I`m not sure if there is much the park can do to improve the circulation on that path. There really is not room to install bleachers because the back porch to Bubba Gump`s/ Lt. Dan`s bar is right there.
