I have not been out to Coney this season, which makes me really kind of sad. Anyway, I will be going to Coney exclusively as a guest for the first time in about two weeks, and I will most definantly ride it. I will also probably take pictures of Coney`s rides, and post them to my site, when I have time to post them. It has been strange to not work at Coney this year. My brother still works there, and is in his third year there. I may offer extra help on Labor Day Weekend and the rest of the post season as I will be out of school and co-oping in mid September (if they need my assistance that is). My brother was actually the first person to run the Scream Machine with guests on board. Yes, I`m sure the Scream Machine is a great addition to Coney. The Scream Machine occupies the former spot of the Forg Hopper, which was new in 2003. Frog Hopper moves to the spot that was previously home to the Baby Bumpers, which are no more.

Actually, I heard that most of next week could be rather wet. But it is mother nature. You can`t predict mother nature very well.

I haven`t been to the park on any weekday this year (except for the Gold Pass holder party on a Friday evening in May) due to school. I would imagine that the crowds will be light, based on past experience from previous seasons as well as the forecast. I believe that Tuesdays are the park`s slowest days. Be aware that Tuesdays are Two-for Tuesdays for pass holders, so some rides like The Beast might have slower than normal moving lines, but it shouldn`t be untolerable. The weather all week is looking to be rather ugly with remanants of Dennis hitting Cincy. The park should be open with rides running, provided that there is no lightning in the area. In the event of lightning they will shut down the rides and reopen them as soon as the lightning is out of the area. I don`t know how much the oxygen bar costs. I have no desire to try it, but the times I`ve walked by it this summer it has been closed.

Yes, they used to put on shows in the Nick Theater as well as the Enchanted Theater next to Phantom Theater. But then in 2003, the Enchanted Theater was turned in storage space. It was also about the same time that they discontinued having shows at the Nick Theater. They instead, as was stated above, turned it into a large Meet and Greet facility. This is one reason why I think that this faciility might be gone after this season to make room for an expansion of the Nick Central ride line up. The park really hasn`t put emphasis on kids shows, which is really kind of sad, because when I worked at Coney, all the kids would love to go see Captain Coney and his Crazy Crew kid`s show.

Having not taken the survey, I can`t comment on the actual possibility of them renaming the parks. But from a common sense viewpoint, I don`t forsee any major changes noticable to the gp, as I have already stated, in the way the parks appear to be run. If there was any name change, which I doubt since the parks will still have use of the Paramount and Viacom properties, it would most likely be to drop the Paramount moniker. Then, Paramount`s Kings Island would be refered to as just Kings Island. While I don`t foresee this happening, it would be cool to have the old Kings Island logo back.

When the ride reopens, there should be no difference in ride experience from before the new gear. Its not like they are changing the computer that controls how the ride runs, they are just replacing a gear that allows the ride to run. The same thing can be said about when they replace the chains on the coaster or the brakes or even the wheels. The parts are necessary to the ride function, and the ride experience is not changed when a new part is installed.

TRTR Guy, I knew the link had the main ride music. I thought by escape you were referring to the drum music. My bad. It would be a violation for us to post his music. However, we can point people to his site, where he has posted the music. In fact, I believe on his site he has a disclaimer saying you may download his music, only for your personal enjoyment and are not to share it with others.

Paramount's Kings Dominion

And the point of posting a large picture in this thread is what? Nice picture, I guess, would have been nice to actually see the gondola on its way down. -
What link does it have to the escape music? I don`t recall seeing a link posted to the escape, aka "drum" music.
-
Paramount Parks will still be referred to as such. Additionally, we will not see any change in names at any of the Paramount Parks. Just because Paramount Parks will be under the umbrella of the CBS side of the company compared to the Viacom, fast growth side shouldn`t change much about the parks. Other, than more emphasis put on the parks, with possibly more capital expenditures since they will play a larger role in the success of the new company.

i don`t recall the escape music, or the "drum" music being posted. I do recall the thread that this was mentioned in, and in fact Rob Pottorff posted in that thread said that he would try and put the drum music up on his site when he got time. Here is the link to the thread on this topic from a couple months ago

The drum music, from what I have heard is only about a thirty seconds, long that is just just on repeat so you can`t really tell when it repeats again.

Meaning longer than three weeks? I hope, for the park`s sake, that they will be able to get it up and swinging again before the conclusion of daily operation.

I have to wonder if the reason for no fireworks off the tower this year was in any way related to the nice new paint job it got this season?

RPmusic.com is the place that has TR:TR music and a bried snippet of Flight of Fear`s music. If I remember correctly, Rob Pottorf, the guy that composed the music for both attractions, also has a clip of the Flight of Fear preshow on his site, with the references to the old Outer Limits portion of the preshow.

Hopefully, the size of the park qill gro some, as as they expand in the future. As has been mentioned before, the park has not expanded or added many new attractions in the last couple of years. What I mean by this is that they have replaced attractions that they have removed with new attractions, which cause people to keep visiting the park. But the park as a whole has not grown in size or amount of rides that drastically in the last five years. If they want people to stay for longer periods of time, they will have to add to their ride base, not just replace attractions with new ones.

Yes, the parks will now be a more integrated part of the new company. The success of the parks will have a greater impace on the new CBS division than they currently have in the large Viacom company. As such, there MIGHT, as has been mentioned before, be an increased focus on the parks in terms of capital expenditures to try and increase revenue generated by the parks. However, if you recall the recent article about PKI and ticket prices, it said that the market is alreasy saturated and that they can`t really charge more or attract that many more visitors, so it will turn to extending the length of stay at the parks, and the amount of money visitors spend in the parks. New rides, while they attract visitors also keep people in the parks. So if they add more rides, there will be more things for people to do in the park, and thus, they will extend there stay in the park to experience all the new things the park has to offer. So the park will not necessarily increase their attendance figures (althought that would likely happen because there would be more demand to visit the park, despite the high prices that the article a while back was talking about.) But the park would most certainly gain from the per capita spending by guests in the park.

Nice trip report. I rode Son of Beast on Saturday. Which I normally don`t do, becuase it beats me up when I ride it. But I had time to kill before 1:30 when my Walk on Weekend ticket for Drop Zone began. I rode SoB in row 2.2. I actually had a pleasurable ride. Sure there was some shaking and such, but not as much or as violently as normal. It was the first time in a long while that I actually had an enjoyable ride on Son of Beast, and wasn`t hoping for the ride to end sooner.

Yes, i know that Ralph got the plans for the Coney Island Teddy Bear and built his own version. Now if only he would do the same thing with the Shooting Star, one of Coney`s real gem coasters, from what I have heard.

What kind of videos do you want to see?
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
While probably out of reach for any one on here, in terms of feasibility. A show/movie on the behind the scenes working of the park would be awesome of PKI. The Discovery Channel did a show like this form Six Flags Magic Mountain and Cedar Point. I`ve always thought a show like this would be cool. Sadly, it seems that new coaster shows on the Discovery Channel are becoming a thing of the past. Or at least, there aren`t as many new ones as there once were. -
One of my favorite rides was either the hand cars, or the kiddie whip. I also liked the Smurf`s Enchanted Voyage. Such good memories from there, back in the days when the employees wore the rainbow stripped shirts!

The Travel Channel? The 25th anniversary show that they air in the line for The Beast? Last time I checked, that was not released to the Travel Channel, or on sale at the park, but I could be wrong.

The Tornado is a fun little roller coaster. I think a ride like that would fit in perfectly at Coney Island. It would not take up a lot of space, and would be a fun ride for lots of people to enjoy. I highly doubt Coney will ever install a ride llke that, but one could hope it would happen!

According to the sheet PKI was handing out, Rozzi`s was responsible for their Nights of Fire. While they may subcontract out their pyrotechnics they are still the company that the park deals with. By far, their signature event is the Toyata WEBN fireworks on Labor day weekend. That display is the BIG thing in Cincinnati that weekend!

PKIBoy, PKI is not like a lot of the Six Flags parks. PKI runs all the trains on the rides that they can. Especially with IJST, even if they aren`t expecting large crowds, they know there will be a crowd at this ride. I have seen them remove a train from The Beast down to 2, but this was on a gold pass holder night when it was really cold. Even with two trains, they were sending the trains out half empty, so they did not benefit from having the third train on. IJST does benefit from a slight increase in capacity by having its third train on.
