Cedar Fair wheeling out Pre-K Pass
CoastersRZ replied to silver2005's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, but Carowinds has an extensive kids area (which they are adding to for next season), and they are offering the Pre-K pass. On the flip side, it was stated on the last conference call that KI has among the largest pass base of any park in the chain, so there would be substantial revenue lost if they brought this to KI. -
Cedar Fair wheeling out Pre-K Pass
CoastersRZ replied to silver2005's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I noticed Cedar Point had this pre-K pass. It will be interesting to see if KI does this. My son (just turned 8 months old today) will be affected by this in a few years. -
And since I know you know the answer to this, how long is the typical sequence before it repeats?
-
I haven`t heard anything concrete for next season. I know that they were conducting a survey among pass holders asking them what they would like to see installed at the park. Not sure of the responses they have received. 2015 was the last year that a new ride was added to the dry side of the park. (Although they did build a new dock for Como Cruisers for this season). I personally think that a log flume, or a Chance train would both be huge hits at Coney and fit the target market really well. Only time will tell if either of these are ever installed at Coney.

I think what people mean by it being abused, is people that buy it and marathon a ride. For example, if you are waiting in a line for Mystic Timbers for forty five minutes and you see the same person using Fastlane to ride the ride ten times when you are in line, that is abusing it, because that person is taking up ten seats on the ride. Had that person not been doing that, you would have been on the ride sooner. Its not so bad it is is just one person doing that. But when you have just five people doing the same thin, that means you (also as a paying guest) are now having to wait for an additional three trains. Again, not that big of a deal, but over the course of the day, those minutes can add up. I am not for or against Fast Lane. It has its place. It does earn Cedar Fair extra money. I do agree that limiting the number might be useful at times, but then again, that is one of the perks for paying so much for it. The Fright Lane passes that they have four Haunt, I believe are limited to one time through each attraction.

And if it is like the Winterfest in 2005, the fountain will be drained before the "regular" season is over in October to prepare for the ice skating rink.
-
Or it could simply mean that they are trying to move merchandise to clear out inventory/make room for Winterfest stuff in their warehouse.
-
Technically the proper term is footings, not footers. Footers is the slang term that is often used. I doubt that they reuse the footings on the train that were used to house the displays from when they had Winterfest in 2005. I am excited to see how many lights they have for Winterfest this time around. They seemed to be lacking in that department with Winterfest 2005. But then again, after having visited Dollywood`s Smoky Mountain Christmas numerous times, the lights there are amazing, so comparing KI to that is like comparing apples and oranges (at least it was for Winterfest 2005). I hope this incarnation gives it a run for its money.

I loved this ride when I rode it many years back. I am sad to see a fun invert leave a park. Hopefully they can relocate the ride somewhere or sell it and not just scrap it. I think it became a victim of the success of the Harry Potter area and how immensely popular that area has been and how much that has boosted Universal`s attendance and revenues.

It is sure to be a fun event. The weather looks to be cooperating too!
-
Don`t forget to register for this event. The deadline to register is midnight tonight! It will be a fun event! I will be working early shift, and be back for the ERT.
-
Classic rides includes all the rides, with the exception of Eurobungy. Your group wristband for the event will also include free rounds of mini golf at Famours Fairways. The only rides that will be available at ERT are Python, Rock O Planes, and TopSpin. The admission price does not include admission into Sunlite Adventure, although that can be purchased as an add on the day of at the ticket booth.

Yes, you would have to remove the existing foundations. That is not that hard to do. They did remove the Son of Beast footings in the area of Banshee. The area is bigger than it might seem, as the pad sits away from the Racer a bit. And keep in mind that they were originally going to put Drop Tower (not our current version) on that site in 1997, but we ended up getting a water park expansion instead. I can see that area being used as part of a flat ride package. I would love to see a flat ride package and revamp like Carowinds received this year.
-
I agree that a ride that is visually stunning like that would be a good fit. That area needs something. Windseeker helped, but the Flight Commander pad has had a revolving door of "attractions" since Flight Commander left.

I have ridden the HUSS ride pictured above (which is located at Canada`s Wonderland). I wasn`t that impressed with the ride experience. It wasn`t all that thrilling and the loading process was quite long.
-
But would they get a return on that $1 million investment? The revamp they did at Carowinds seemed to be popular. I personally haven`t experienced it, so don`t know if it was worth the investment there. It would be nice to see some kind of attraction in that building again. Although the placement of Windseeker kind of makes traffic flow back to the building constricted. I would still love to see a new flat ride on the former Flight Commander location. I think that is a prime location and would definitely look good with a new flat there.

Gannersdaddy, your son and wife can attend. Just put your username down for them as well.

I will likely be working part of the day. But I will definitely be there for the ERT, likely running one of the rides... The sooner you can buy the tickets the better. I am not sure what the deadline is for purchasing tickets. Looking into it now.

Scream Machine had a hydraulic leak. It is now back up and running (it opened this past Friday). Wipe Out has been down all season.

Holiday World has a good water park. On my recent visit to Kentucky Kingdom (this past Friday, June 30th), the rides side of the park had minimal wait times. Storm Chaser was walk on, and Thunder Run was a couple train wait, same with Lightning Run. We had had our share of rides by around 2, and headed to the water park. Holiday World can have some longer lines from what I hear. Personally, I wouldn`t want to feel rushed, and I loved the two water coasters at Holiday World (which can each have close to an hour wait). I would visit both parks on separate days. But Kentucky Kingdom isn`t an all day park unless you also do the water park, and several of the flat rides that they offer.

The Amusement Park Railroad Thread
CoastersRZ replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, the green normally pulls the green coaches and the blue #12 engine normally pulls the red coaches. By the way, the red coaches were painted for this season.
