For The Beast to valley it must be heavily braked or something . There are no large hills after the lift hill drops.

Blog: The aviation pioneer that invented Kings Island's Monster

I am shocked that this great ride is still there. Kings Dominion, Carowinds and Canadas Wonderland all removed theirs under KECO or Paramount Cedar Fair though has kept them at several parks. -
You are right. Many people would have wanted refunds in March/April. That’s the same reason the stock market crashed during those moths. Uncertainty. But some parks did open in July and the situation was looking better by then. Refunds beginning then would have been appropriate. If a business is failing though it doesn’t give them the ethical right to keep prepayments IMO.
-
Oh they aren’t going out of business because of this. But if the plaintiffs win, and I hope they do, the possu refunds from unused season passes will now be public knowledge Cedar Fair doesn’t provide what is advertised at some of their ever closing parks like Kings Dominion and Carowinds This will possibly open the gate to refunds for their less than stellar business practices It all books haft just quietly went away…..
-
I no don’t believe this is a lottery win lawsuit. The plaintiffs are asking for a partial refund of their own money fir something the defendant sold, but couldn’t provide. I don’t believe that are trying to make money if this lawsuit, although with the messed up US legal system the lawyers will I’d Cedar Fair loses and has to pay attorney fees. Just get back their own money for which they got nothing To me it sounds like a lawsuit of principal fir the plaintiffs more than it is about the money I’m always happy to see citizens step up against sleazy businesses practices IMO a company that doesn’t offer refunds for 2020 is in that category

Evac Exactly. People won’t come on bad weather days once a park has a reputation for closing due to “weather” when it’s really attendance. The parks dig their own grave buy closing early, As a result it keeos people away on future bad weather days and making it impossible to make profits on these days due up their reputation. Another indirect negative affect of this policy is that the parks are overcrowded on good weather days leading to a less enjoyable experience I woukd cross the street to go to that crap hole park in Pittsburgh That’s 100% because of their “close if it rains” policy Kings Island hasn’t closed too many times during the weather like KIngs Dominion (who is becoming notorious like Kennywood) and Carowinds However the early closing at Winterfest last year was 100% for attendance The rain stopped And that’s just au unethical business practice IMO
-
That’s right. They didn’t HAVE to offer refunds. They have that disclaimer. im saying it would have been the ethical thing to do. I worked in an industry that had weather related sporting events. Virtually every venue had a NO refund policy. But one owner I worked for did offer refunds. Because he was a decent ethical person. Also people that don’t get what they pay for don’t come back! it’s a little sad that people are so used to low ethic behavior these days they accept it. I came close to not coming back this year because of it. I won’t travel long distance to those parks anymore. Too risky if the weather isn’t perfect. The only reason I have a 2022 pass Is because Winterfest is my favorite time of year. This has only become an industry standard over recent years. It used to be thst parks operated during their advertised hours (and 10a to 10 pwas standard as well). People have allowed these companies to start operating like this The cheap season passes allow the companies to treat their customers less than stellar They already have the customers money and they believe the customers will still come back because of the cheap season pass one pays for what they get That’s for sure lol
-
They probably give a comp ticket but people that traveled have already spent money on gas and lodging. I have been burnt by Cedar Fair multiple times after traveling. At Carowinds, they closed early on a clear day that was in the 50s. Multiple times at Kings Dominion because of light rain. And even KI at Winterfest because of rain. The weather conditions on all of those days were good enough for operations but attendance was low The mindset of this low ethics company is that if a low attendance is mostly made up of passholders, it’s ok to close early because they already have your money. Just like the 2020 season passes. I’m sure many families could have used the refund money to get through that hard year instead of financing Cedar Fair interest free
-
Good! As much as i hate frivolous lawsuits, this one is justified. Cedar Fair is not exactly the shining example of ethical business towards their customers. Sure, they gave a season for free to the few that came in 2020, but an ethical business always offers refunds on unused purchase. Cedar Fair chose to keep eveyones money through 2020 to give themselves cash flow instead of ethically offering refunds. This is this same company that loves to false advertise/bait and switch their park hours. Including closing parks early simply due to low attendance.

Any summer flowers planted now would be killed by the frost. The frost free date is around May 15. The pansies planted now will flourish in 50 60 degree weather but they won’t last when it gets hot. I would guess more of the budget goes for summer flowers

I bought my platinum pass at Kings Dominion at the beginning of the year with dining and drink. I used it at KD that weekend and Carowinds the next weekend. They gave me a new pass card, so it was definitely the one that was used in Jan. At KI last weekend my drink plan was showing up invalid. It had something on the screen that it was fir limited dates or something like that. I went to guest relations, showed them my credit card charge from Jan and they fixed it. It worked after that.

I’m not sure why they would kept them off for Covid. The park decided last year it would be a free for all with no distancing, masks, shields for the cashiers etc. There are absolutely no pre cautions. My guess is that they don’t work. Speaking of germs lol. Those new trash cans in the antique car area are awful. You have to touch them to throw away garbage.
-
They removed the lighting and sound system improvements at the Bandstand this year. It’s a bad venue. The performers are in the blazing sun until sundown and the sight lines are bad for the audience. However, the 2021 show on that stage was near perfect and there isn’t anything similar on the schedule this year.
-
That sounds like a guess based on visual queue at best. They don’t have the equipment to report accurate wait times.
-
I hope as much work as was done cleaning up the park this year, they don’t allow the garbage dump on The Beast to return.
-
How do they even determine wait times other than guessing? Disney wait times were accurate because they would hand someone in line a scannable card and they would scan it at entry and on the ride platform to update the time.
-
This day is advertised as a passholder “benefit” but there is nothing exclusive about it because most of their customers are passholders these days. I wouldn’t go near the park on that day. Opening day is actually lighter because if it. Do people go on this day because they just can’t wait it they think it is “exclusive?” I have never seen a report where it wasn’t miserably crowded and without long waits.
-
Are they planning on fully painting it, or leaving the turn arounds unpainted because they are not highly visible from midways?
-
More exciting than the repaint, Racer is actually racing again! Both trains are leaving the top of the lift hill together. I have seen both sides win.
-
They also got rid of the fake stump electric outlet mess. There are lots of new little evergreens on the train route. If those aren’t decked out with lights for Winterfest I’m going to be highly disappointed.
-
Did they finally get rid of that hideaous chain link surrounded gravel clearing on the train ride?!!!!!!! It was absolutely the biggest eyesore on the ride.

I didn’t say it wasn’t profitable. I just don’t think it rakes in the profits that correspond ti the attendance. Season pass holders, which seem to be the target market for Cedar Fair, aren’t spending much at this event No admission, no food or drink if on meal plan etc. I know personally I don’t spend anything at that event. there is no reason to. If you are on the meal plan you eat your meal and then you don’t even want one of their special food offerings because you are not hungry. $15,000 in ice skating only makes up for appx 300 free admissions and parking. So it’s not much. This is the other reason that Cedar Fair LOVES to close parks early or entirely due to weather related low attendance. They already have the season pass holders money, and if there are only season pass holders on these low attendance days they aren’t too worried about making them mad. They are still going to buy the cheap season passes. I know personally I have been at Cedar Fair parks at least five times when they closed early or entirely due to low attendance. It definitely wasn’t because of the weather. The weather was not favorable but they could’ve operated. KI doesn’t do it a lot, It actually happened at Winterfest on my last trip there last year. It rained early, they announced the park would close early and then it didn’t rain the rest of the night. This whole season pass business model has led to less than stellar operations. It used to be that amusement parks stayed open their entire advertise schedule. No matter what the weather was unless it was something super threatening like a tornado. you did not have to look at the weather forecast when planning on going to amusement park because you knew they would operate. Now they close early because they already have everyone’s money. It amounts to false advertising IMO. There’s only two reasons to defend is practice. One if a person is local and hasn’t traveled very far. Two if people love their cheap season passes and don’t travel very far. This is the route they have chosen in their business model so it’s hard to back track. Low priced seating passes and over crowded parks with people that don’t spend a lot on each visit. Six Flags is trying to reverse that this year. We’ll see how that works. I would gladly pay more for a season pass if it meant parks would operate as they used to. One wasted trip Is $50 in fuel these days.

Cedar Fairs logos are as uncreative and bland as their theming used to be pre-Mystic Timbers. I hope someone didn’t actually get paid to dot the I”s with a flag and call it a logo lol.
