Yes it should be more attractive to everyone. Unless they want more of the trouble they had opening weekend. The crowd is already so questionable they weren’t allowing re entry.
-
It belongs in Area 72, they just need to make room for it off the midway. There is an empty plot between Racer and Flight of Fear….
-
I’m here on Sunday 7-18. Park is crowded. It’s a mgmt fail not to open the food booths all day as they are pure revenue (no dining plans).
-
It has a great vibe. The costumes and face paint are great. It fits the theming of Area 72 perfectly. The location isn’t the best as it jams up a narrow midway.
-
Traffic has been backing up on the road waiting for the parking lot to open this year. I’m surprised they let that happen, cause if there is an accident the park will have some liability in the situation.

Grand Carnivale - July 17 - August 1

Sane my e here. Plus I love there is 5 hours of night tine park. And no blazing heat. -
That’s just what this park needs after the fights this year. A dark themed event that’s already problematic enough that they don’t allow re entry. Having indoor events is also still a bad idea given that appx 40% of the people are unvaccinated AND not wearing masks. But hey! Short term profits.

That’s where I heard it. I consider that part of Oktoberfest as it was in the original park.
-
Coney had a classic rock soundtrack this week. Still the miserable out of theme country music in Oktoberfest. But a slight improvement
-
You are right. But with the fountain and all the synchronized lighting, they coukd add to that and have a finale show that doesn’t close rides and threaten to potentially set fire to the place. Plus they are dangerous to those setting them off. im just not a fan of fireworks. The fatality of the Blue Jackets player is a reminder why.
-
Nightly fireworks are such a waste of funds. They don’t increase the gate at all. They could just run the fountain and light show a couple times a night and save funds for park improvements

The music throughout the park is absolutely horrible. They must be trying to save ASCAP fees or something. The only place that has a great track is Area72. The Kids Bop in Snoopyland - like mentioned above. some lyrics are appropriate. Pop music/country style in Rivertown - HORRID The same 10 song pop country loop playing throughout Coney, Oktoberfest and Action Zone is absolutely ridiculous. It is out of theme, and the music is AWFUL Pop music/instrumental in International Street - right type of music (instrumental) but wrong songs (pop)! This is at least tolerable. Plus the AWFUL songs in before & after the Royal Finale this year. Did I mention how much i hate the pop country in HALF the park?! I would rather have silence than most of this garbage.

I give the park huge credit in operating it as a racing coaster. Both sides are open every day and they dispatch the two trains together. Unlike American Eagle at Six Flags GA that they refuse to race because they haven’t maintained the structure. I was just saying do you racing on racer isn’t very even because of the lift hill and far turn around. Racers cousin at Kings Dominion Is the perfect racing roller coaster. A couple years ago they put a computer synchronize lift Hill on the coaster. As Long as the trains are dispatched within about 20 seconds of each other, they always leave the top of the lift hill at the same time. The chain lift speeds adjust to accomplish that.
-
The real steam train whistle that can be heard throughout the park.
-
Are they still playing that God awful Luke Bryan type pop country 5 song loop all over the left side of the park? They must not want to pay ascap fees this year.
-
It’s a good ride but flawed. The re tracking has made it ride great. Racing coasters bare rare and we are lucky to have one. But it doesn’t race well. One lift hill runs slightly faster and one of the turnaround trim brakes slows the train more than the other. The wierd Y design after the third hill is also odd. You lose view of the other train. And then there’s the long flat run at then end where the final drop was removed. Not perfect but still a treasure for the park. Even on busy days the lines are short because of 4 trains. Thank goodness CF is renovating it instead of what they did to Thunder Road. They didn’t paint the new track this year. Will it end up ugly and gray as they replace wood?

Whatever they planted doesn’t seem to be a very fast growing vine. This was planted four years ago.

Giving credit where due today Thusrday June 3! The original forecast was for 60% to 90% chance of rain all day. I went to the park since I had the day off against my better judgement given the forecast. The forecast changed a couple times during the day. It stopped raining about 1 PM let’s start it again around 630. They close the rides at 630 and actually reopened them after 7 in the rain until closing. The park operated today as it has traditionally They even ran both sides of Racer until closing. The only closed rides were Viking Fiury and Dodgem which seem to have rain issues plus WW Canyon.
-
This is the mindset they have given their costumers with their reputation for starting to closing early. Once a park starts doing that, everyone stays away on a rainy day not to risk wasting their time and travel expenses. It’s a bad cycle. It also leads to making the nice days miserably crowded as people wait until those days to go. Overall, it saves a few dollars when they shut down early. But in the long run it leads to less customer satisfaction and ultimately hurts business

After seeing this live, it is absolutely excellent. The vocalists, dancers and band are all top tier talent. It’s great to see so many familiar performers in all 3 of those categories The dancers are very tightly choreographed during the entire show as well as the vocalists being choreographed. As I said before, that is what was missing from the recent bandstand shows. Also worth noting that there are both male and female dedicated dancers which I only recall before in Hot Rhythm Nights. It’s a great balance. It’s a strong playlist of fresh music for KI shows. This show is very re-watchable as there is a lot going on the whole time with no downtime.
-
It appears that the elimination of 3 major shows this year in the Showplace, Festhaus and KI Theater were pure budget cutbacks more than COVID precautions. Given the bottlenecks that the Busker Jam stage and Area 72 party will cause on those already narrow midways.
-
Yes both of those. Oktoberfest is the most neglected part of the park
-
In 19 the music and lighting were not highly synchronized. Last year it was much better. It’s improving each year. The new fountains and lightning are capable of a spectacular show when the programmer has an ear for music.
-
This show hasn’t had dancers except Hot Rhythm Nights at Carnivale and the year it was in the International Showplace in 2015. The addition of dancers takes it ti another level. It’s been a great show over the years with outstanding talent. But up to and including the year it was in the Showplace, the vocalists were very choreographed. Over the last several years that had slipped away, so happy to see choreography back in it. They have spent funds updating the bandstand but it is still a HORRIBLE venue in the hot sun, with no seating The sightlines are blocked by the crowd The performers and the audience deserve better

Not a peep out of the park addressing last weekend. This could be taken as they are doing nothing to improve the situation. Bad move staying silent. Their mismanagement of the overcrowded park lead to this situation. They are mismanaging the aftermath if they make no publicized changes. Closing early doesn’t fix the problem of an over crowded park
