It was unexpected that they kept the rides open for another 90 minutes past the advertised time. In these days of not operating as scheduled to operate to pinch pennies, that was a nice change. They must of been happy with the crowd.
-
All the rides are running at 10:40 including the expensive to operate train. They said on the train ride that rides will close by 1130

If you’re only bringing one to three friends it’s better to buy it at the gate. There is a 6.99 processing fee online

I don’t think it ran in the snow. I thought I heard the entrance employee tell someone it was closed for the night before the snow started.
-
Tonight was absolutely perfect. It snowed from 6:30ish past closing. The kind of snow that sits on the trees. They did not open Mystic Timbers but everything else was operating at some point, although some of the outdoor shows were up choreographed or did not run all times. They ran the rides until 9:30 and quietly closed things down but let the guests enjoy the beauty of the park until 10. Silver Dollar City might have more lights, but they typically don’t get real snow there either and the snow is the best atmosphere possible for this event!

In 2017 it snowed at least two nights during the event and it was absolutely amazing. They ran all the rides except Mystic Timbers. The train ride through the snow was perfect.

Locals concerned that Kings Island is violating noise ordinances
super7 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
They have built developments Close to The Beast and directly across the River from KI. They have no right to complain. If you didn’t want to live near an amusement park you should not have built a house there! This may be why we got such a crappy design for Orion instead of using the valley -
Transylvania Highlands! It already has Banshee and Bat. A world class dark ride like the previous Phantom Theatre would ice the cake

Racer never had the tunnel in the final drop, but the tunnel in the final drop on Racer 75 and Thunder Road is/was an Awesome finale. The elimination of the final hill of Racer ruined that possibility.
-
Red far turnaround needs same work that was done on blue last year. The racing is awful on this coaster because of the uneven fat turnarounds, the uneven lift hill speed and the uneven initial turnaround. It definitely needs The Racer 75 synchronized lift hill treatment.
-
The New Years lineup is definitely disappointing. Especially considering how bad any of the character stuff is. Last year’s attendance was bad because of the weather. That probably caused them to cut it back this year. With no rides open after 10 PM, I agree, what will there be to do for three hours? Last year they also cut out almost all the regular entertainment on New Year’s Eve. I wonder if they will do the same thing this year?
-
The Thunder Road model is not accurate like the others however. It only has three hills after the lift hill and has stations on each side of the lift hill. But it’s still great that they made a model of it.
-
All of the previous models were increased to $34.99 at the park. They used to be$29.99. The new models were also selling for $34.99 last weekend. Five dollars is a pretty big jump in price but the park has to make up for their cheap season passes and meal plans in other ways LOL

The Spectacular show in the KI Theater needs to go. The parts with the characters are just unbearable. They should save that stuff for the Peanuts Theater show. The KI Theater is the best venue in the park and it deserves an A Class choreographed and vocal production with no characters.

Thank you. I am surprised we didn't see it since we were walking around the park most of the night. So it ends up everything attraction and show were running Sunday despite the weather.
-
They had Linus there Sunday. Even toward the end of the night when the park was nearly empty. It was lightly rainy almost all Sunday night but the only thing that did not happen any time during the night was Holly Jolly Trolley. They did not open a few food stands and closed some early, but this is the proper way to handle a slow night and not upset the customers that spent their money to come.

It’s out and back with a helix. 5 drops and a bunny hop. The model doesn’t look good because of the layout IMO. It’s not the lack of supports because I think the Diamondback model looks good and is interesting. It’s also worth noting that the Son of Beast model is painted brown
-
Son of Beast is probably the best looking model they have produced. On the other side, Orion is probably the worst looking model they have made, due to its completely uninspired lackluster layout. This has to be one of the most uninteresting layout B & M has ever designed. SoB and Vortex sold out tonight. Orion models were still left at the Italian building store after 10.
-
Yes thank you
-
My thoughts exactly. Retheme it to a mine train. Build a facade mountain around the helix with a waterfall. Make it fit and truly be a centerpiece in the park instead of an eyesore
-
I just hope they dont whack down the trees inside of the turn around after the first drop. Kings Islands tree cover gets more sparse each year and those trees will make The Beast more exposed if they are destroyed.
-
Carowinds sold a Thunder Road model after they destroyed that coaster. I’m surprised that Kings Dominion didn’t sell it as their Racer is identical to TR.
-
Great America did double rides in the American Eagle a few years ago. It backed up the lines on a normally high capacity coaster. They still have to double check the restraints.
-
Look at all trees back then that have been removed.
