Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
MrSourNinja replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
There is a micro top hat, a stall, and an outerbank so no inverted top hat here, although I did consider it. And I definitely would like a boardwalk bridge style pathway or something to connect The Beast area and WindSeeker as I have always disliked those two dead ends. I will upload a POV soon but it will definitely be a WIP one as there is a lot of supports and stuff to make still. -

Keep them coming! Here is a mockup of something I was working on in FVD++. Around 3,800ft of track, 3 inversions, 2 launches. 40mph and 60mph. 1 devilish stall. Also, remember to look at shadows to see the location of elements in the air. IE, The Beast doesn't lose its train shed and we don't cut into the path by WindSeeker. @Hawaiian Coasters 325 -

It's literally a giga coaster. As much as I would want that Gerst coaster to be ours, it's not and Orion is the park's main attraction now. -

I am thinking that there will have to be one section of break run before a left hand turn into the waiting break before the station. That would put it on more level ground and also keep the station in its current position. Putting it before the launch would require the station move back towards the helix more and it wouldn't really fit. Having the final break run, station, transfer track and launch all facing that same direction towards The Beast I don't think is feasible. -

It's an experience unlike any other, that's for sure!!!! -

It rolls out slowly into a launch. And yeah it's definitely an outerbank. With how steep it is I would definitely consider it an outer-banked top hat though. -

I agree, its an amazing feeling. Right now the launch is set to 1.6Gs which is the same as accelerator at Knotts. -

I can definitely switch it in the next update. And another building would be nice but to fit in the launch before The Beast, it would most likely have to turn a bit left or move the station back closer to la rosas, meaning a final break run running parallel to the walkway through the trees. -

A couple more images of the work in progress. Almost feel like a lower speed blitz with more low to the ground turns and terrain elements would fit better in this plot. Or an RMC..... shhhhh nobody heard me say that. -

So this is what I have so far. The track is a little hard to follow but I hope you get the idea. Tophat is 115ft and requires a 60mph launch to start the ride. It also only descends at 80degs coming out of it. To clear a top hat that tall you end up having a lot of leftover speed and it is nearly impossible (without trims) to keep the forces in check and pull tight elements. I took your original idea and kind of spun what I could with it. First half (before second launch) is around 33 seconds. Very similar to Maverick's first half. -

Sounds good. I am doing a little now and will update you on progress. Like I said I am not the best at this but I can do a decent job. -

I might work on something close to your design in my free time. Only thing is it may not be exact due to some of the elements being hard to see and also just some creative process style changes. -
Controversial opinions that'll get you punched by a KI fan
MrSourNinja replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
They should reprofile the whole ride tbh. I have never gotten much airtime if any at all. -
I just want to see some grass start growing under Orion. Gonna make it look so much better.

Guys I figured out why the webcams are still off . IT is looking for people with experience in Windows 2000 and XP....

That’s not in the US tho. I heard they have exclusivity rights for sometime in the US.
-
It’s a concept like time traveler
-
If only silver dollar city didn’t have exclusive rights to that ride type
-
I used FVD++ with an overlay of the area. Created the coaster. Then imported into no limits 2 to turn it into an actual ride and add block sections and stuff like that. It’s still a work in progress but it’s cool to have something to scale and to work on.
-
Since this at least brought up the conversation of something new in Action Zone, I decided to work on a concept RMC for the area. Im definitely not the best at this stuff and there is definitely some changes I want to make to the layout but I feel comfortable showing my progress. Should be, at the very least, a fun little thing.

I would have to assume that The Bat is not being removed anytime soon. It is not old compared to its counterparts and as much as the station is an eye-sore, people seem to still ride the thing like crazy. I doubt it is super expensive to maintain either. So we should be good to keep it for a while longer unless they have bigger and better things planned.
-
That would actually be awesome. I think a water coaster would be a nice fit. Either dry park style or water park style.

No thanks. There are plenty of adults that I saw that also did not want to be scared. Why do the midways have to have actors if they have specific attractions for that. Let the people that like that stuff have it and let people who just want to ride coasters in the dark, ride. Don’t want to turn people away because it’s 100% scary.
