  1. Fear Fest.... And yes. As well as weekly or semi-monthly changed maps.
  2. Or three, depending on how you count.
  3. Aren't most wood coasters built of pine? Terp, who likes to ask "helpful (?!)" questions.
  4. The local roads available in that part of Tennessee are both scarce and....uh....exciting. Way too exciting for most.
  5. The Internet has led many to believe that historic photos, facts, etc., are all out there, remaining only to be found. That frequently is NOT the case. Records are destroyed every single day, and that happened even more in the past. Storage was a problem. Still is. Preservation was not seen as important. Privacy was seen as important, and protected. And oftentimes, records were not created in the first place. Photos were expensive, difficult, and often faded away. Separately, and somewhat related, five years or so ago here, I related my own personal knowledge gathered by personal observation, of events and the industry. A young grasshopper nearly assaulted me with the demand I cite an Internet source for my observations and facts and said absent that it was not to be trusted. I blame Wikipedia. And many accept all Internet sources as equally credible. Editing and fact checking and even spell checking have largely fallen by the wayside. Anywho, two years later said grasshopper asked me a question about Dennis McNulty. I told him to go to the Internet.
  6. El Toro is relatively short. Money was. INTAMIN and a different SIX, yet... (Explaining before a certain other poster says--that's INTAMIN. Sigh). SIX gets short RMC's when that's what they pay for. Money limitations (something for EVERY park EVERY year on a smaller per cap capex) at SIX vs. FUN's typically big stuff comes to big parks but less often and small parks may get nothing huge (ever?) are very different per project at the two park chains. Physics isn't. You get what you pay for....usually. See Son of Beast. Or Rattler.
  7. Or Dudette! Terp--an EOP* *Goble: EOP: Equal Opportunity Poster.
  8. Nah. Probably be a stuntwoman. Terp, running for the night row.
  9. First, Wild Animal Habitat hasn't been gone all that many years. Second, I believe that area was pretty treeless when Kings Island opened. When it was cleared I don't know. I never saw the Kings Island property before opening day.
  10. Don't forget the park took over SOB's construction, became the general contractor, changed the plans and specs, cut costs, got cited by OSHA, and never did get the thing to consistently operate in a safe, reliable, enjoyable fashion.
  11. I was waiting for that. Thanks. You've performed a service today.
  12. I understand that. I thought you'd like that. This year, NJFTP is taking your advice. I, for one, am far less than enthused about THIS year's addition there. Thankfully, /signal lost---Hi, Don!/
  13. I have more than seen it. And Tatsu is only about 100 times better.
  14. ....concept.... See X. And what's been done to it since. Tatsu is my favorite ride in that park. Gee, I wonder who made that? NJFTP: Batman The Ride, Bizarro, Nitro, The Green Lantern. Parks go to B&M for ROI.
  15. https://lawreviewdrake.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/irvol60-1_fichtner.pdf Hmmm...
  16. This has happened before. Massive, horrific traffic jams and multi-hour delays have resulted. BOTH directions to be closed "for weeks." http://www.wcnc.com/news/local/regional/tennessee-i-75-closure-could-last-for-weeks/58273641
  17. But, but...the love of Disney is not universal. Not everything in parks America is a palace. See world? There are more than six ways to have fun. Look at life more broadly. Have an Alabama splash adventure. Make yours a holiday world. Dolly would. Kenny would. Visit a Camden park. And finish with a coney island. Since this is so cheesy, don't forget the mustard!
  18. marth555 actually posted it here first. Though Oldiesmann posting it in a new thread where it will be seen by more people is also a good thing.
  19. The "Cleveland land" has still not sold... The parks, if that day ever comes, would be sold individually. If bad comes, it is apt to come to SIX and FUN nearly simultaneously. It almost did last time.
  20. They have no claim against the earnings unless otherwise agreed or the company is in default. Over at SIX, they are buying back stock instead of paying down debt.
  21. Just a reminder of how thankful we should be for the Knott family, Geoff Raynor and Q: http://www.thestreet.com/story/13224612/1/why-cedar-fair-remains-a-good-value-after-its-stunning-recovery.html Note that debt levels have barely been reduced at all--dividends to unitholders instead...
  22. One is the longest wooden coaster in the world. True in 1979. True today.
  23. Charlie Dinn. Beast.... Six Flags Great America...Viper...
  24. I have Six Flags America! Oh, wait...
