  1. That's not what my dermatologist says! Then again, there's money in them thar bumps!
  2. You reads the list and you takes your...pick.
  3. I'm not so confident as to say never. Likely? No. Never? Never is a very long time. Owners change, riders change, culture changes... Nothing is forever.
  4. Because INTAMIN. Are more words really necessary?
  5. It was stained. A redwood color... It was NOT, as some claim, built of redwood...
  6. A thread well worth re-reading. Especially now?
  7. ...or CBS will sell the park for a very high price to, of all companies, (previously) conservative debt averse Cedar Fair?
  8. For years, it laid outside in the grass in a gully, clearly visible from Xtreme Skyflyer.
  9. I was there. The coaster was delivered with four trains. It never operated on a public day with four trains. It was discovered four trains actually reduced capacity. You go right on trusting Wikipedia, though. Never mind tomorrow said source may be edited to say it ran five...or none. Wikipedia! Sigh.
  10. Private equity firms are famous for adding more debt (and perceived value) before offloading. We know they would have offloaded Dick Kinzel and his kindred, accompanied by the pre-agreed upon loot and booty--or should I say dowry? Surely one reason Dick Kinzel is reportedly so unhappy in retirement is that his carefully planned accretion to his personal fortune was thwarted.
  11. The coaster NEVER operated on a public day with four trains. At all.
  12. Perhaps, but it would depend in part on what that interested party wanted to do with the land. Plus, Meijer is/was buying a part of it.
  13. As soon as you said brick phone, I thought of catching a HUUUUUGE brick sized "portable telephone" on my very first Magnum XL-200 ride. Had I gotten hit by that thing, brick is about right. I can only imagine the abuse, vandalism, etc., these things are going to get. Especially...America. Loose ones gonna hurt...and BADLY.
  14. Rye Aeroplane? Skyliner? Phoenix? Screechin' Eagle? American Eagle? Any questions?
  15. One of the reasons I adored Rolling Thunder so much is that it didn't get all those modifications--and it went out still having the remarkable airtime it was built with.
  16. Before all the modifications, Racer was an airtime extravaganza. It now hasn't been for many years.
  17. I didn't do it! Truthful, uncorrupted Terp.
  18. And just like THAT, the thread ended. Important reading given the passage of time and the coming future... Oh, what was it you ask? WindSeeker. And it, like Shoot the Rapids, had a rough set of opening months... Unlike Shoot the Rapids, mods fixed the ride, and it's still there.
  19. All? No. Terp--not a fan of over-generalizations.
  20. See his post above. Actor Activated Triggers. I think it's a term he made up. EDIT: Posted at same time...
  21. I'm not recommending new PTC's for Racer or Beast. There are far better choices. I think I said GCII Millennium Flyer trains.
  22. See Thunderhawk at Dorney Park for 2016. I wish they'd add Blue Streak, Rebel Yell...
  23. Yes. Badly hacked PTC's are badly hacked PTC's. And Beast opened with four bench trains--long gone.
  24. And for the gentleman who said do not change the trains, I could not possibly disagree more. So far, those poor PTC's have had the flip down bars removed, individually ratcheting orange restraints added (and installed lower than in any other park I've ever been to, bar none), seat belts added, seat dividers added, head rests added, the fronts changed, the braking system changed, and, worst of all, hard urethane foam and vinyl installed, replacing the original luxe padding and leather the trains came with. John Allen would cry. If the PTC's disappeared tomorrow, replaced with GCII Millennium Flyer trains, I'd be ecstatic. They track better, ride better, articulate better, are easier to maintain, and are far more comfortable.
