Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
Like many of you, I’ve been watching the fallout from the massive Cedar Fair and Six Flags merger with dread. We are seeing classic corporate cost-cutting play out in real-time—trimming live entertainment, letting maintenance standards slip, and chasing the quick sugar-high of short-term profits to try and cut the debt incurred to create this beast. The root problem here isn’t necessarily the people running the parks day-to-day; it’s the public company model itself. When a corporation answers to Wall Street, leadership is forced to chase infinite, quarter-over-quarter growth. In the theme park industry, that pressure almost always translates to the exact same playbook: cut expenses, hike prices, and squeeze the guest experience until the seams tear. Take a look outside our industry at Nordstrom. When they went private, they were able to step off that relentless quarterly treadmill. Reports show they are doing quite well because they don’t have to panic over every single earnings report—they can just focus on running a great business and making a healthy, honest profit. It makes you wonder: what would it actually take for a flagship park like Kings Island to go private? While a standalone park like KI isn't sold separately under the current corporate umbrella, premier regional parks with massive attendance, huge real estate footprints, and water parks easily generate immense annual revenues. Valued on an EBITDA multiple, buying a crown-jewel asset like Kings Island would likely require a half-billion-dollar-plus war chest. Sure, running a seasonal park privately comes with massive hurdles—weather dependencies, economic shifts, and heavy capital expenditure needs for multi-million-dollar coasters mean you need deeply patient private equity or a dedicated buyer group rather than a fast exit strategy. But imagine what a private owner could do if they weren't obsessed with infinite growth. What if they were simply content making a strong, sustainable yearly profit while restoring pristine landscaping, fully staffing entertainment, and ensuring rides are maintained to the gold standards we used to expect? Regional parks used to feel like local pride-and-joy crown jewels rather than faceless corporate assets. If a private ownership group ever stepped up to carve out a cluster of these parks and run them with a guest-first, long-term mindset, I think they’d find an intensely loyal fanbase ready to support them from day one. What do you guys think? Could Kings Island ever go private and regain it's reputation?

Kings Island General Discussion 2026
It appears the broken led lights on the peak of the Grain & Grill swiss building did not get fixed/replaced during the off-season.

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
I have to say, from what I have seen online this really looks like a high quality dark ride Kings Island added, congratulations to the team that got it done. I just hope they budget for yearly maintenance on it and guest respect the theming elements.

Kings Island General Discussion 2026
Are we to expect some of the fountain lights out all season? These two set have been out every time the lights have been on. Do we also think the one set of led color lights on Grain and Grill swiss building got fixed from last season, or will just be turned off this season?

WinterFest 2025
Another good reason why KI needs more indoor venues. It would be beneficial for helping keep this event open as well as in the summer to help beat the heat and thunderstorms.

WinterFest 2025
I see they are testing the lighting on IS this evening, and the Grain & Grill building lights are still out. Are we to assume it's a lost cause they will be repaired/replaced for Winterfest, if at all.

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
I'm ok with Kings Island being a family park, but if your going to be a family park, be a family park, not a park with just family rides. The entertainment lineup was weak this past season, I expect a family park to have quality family rides, food and entertainment. Boo Blasters is in terrible need of a refresh, and I hope is the 2026 family thrill attraction.

Peanuts Dark Ride To Replace Boo Blasters?
Looks like Toy Story Mania concept, while the ride is fun, it is 100% screen based. I would prefer they give an old school nod and create the Peanuts' Enchanted Voyage. A boat ride would be great, but they could use the current ride system and still pull it off.

How Much Longer For Boo Blasters On Boo Hill?
Would love if they went retro and did a Peanuts/Snoopy enchanted voyage ride.

Camp Snoopy Construction Updates
Who has seen Kings Island's Instagram today? Two very odd story photos, is something replacing boo blasters? Is something coming in 2025 for The Vortex space?

2023 General Kings Island Discussion
I was just looking at the web cam and the center water jet closest to the camera is again not working.

The mill wheel is back!
I am honestly more excited for the park this year with all of the improvements than if they were getting a new ride. Kings Island will look great this season.

Festhaus Updates
It would be great if they also brought back the streamers on the ceiling again.

Festhaus early years
Thank you for the photos, is my child memory correct about the interior gazebos left and right of the main stage, or something I dreamed up? Do you think there is chance now that the exterior has been restored that they may restore the interior and bring back the ceiling streamers and wall murals, or is it destined to just be a food court?

Festhaus early years
Does anyone have photos of the Festhaus the first couple of years after it opened? I was just a young kid but I recall when it had an Oktoberfest show in it, it had a gazebo on each side of the stage with an animated polka band in them like the clock.
