Before any of you talk about how lame you think this ride is, hear me out. The coaster is NOT going to a amusement park. The coaster is being placed in nuerburgring, this area in Germany is a major motorsport race track. for 2009 they are adding major new attractions. It will become a museum and hotel, on top of that the new Ring Coaster we are all talking about. Obviously they are not looking to build a coaster with loops, twists and turns but something fellow racing fans can ride to simulate the experience of a formula 1 race car driver. I find the coaster fascinating and thrilling, no matter the layout it looks to successfully fit in with the theme and offer thrills.

I don't see a Mt. Tony or Mt. Tyler anywhere in sight!

In response to 74Gibsonff and Beast1979, you both make a good argument. Manta is what you might say is "relatively basic". Most of the ride introduces elements that have already been used many times before. It seems that most of these 'newer' rides are going for that. Just take a look at The Dark Knight Coaster. Yes I have heard some very bad reviews for this ride and we all by now know its a basic indoor wild mouse coaster. But it took an old idea and made something new and creative out of it. It's almost 2009 guys, if you take a look at the history of rides and coaster you will notice that the designs and layouts are becoming more unique. A themed Topspin in a building (admit it it was a VERY cool and unique idea), a coaster that actually sprays water (Sheirka), even Diamondback has something unique with its own splashdown. If Diamondback were to just go into the breaks with no splashdown it would have been like any other B&M hyper. Were moving into a time where coasters are not just hills, loops, or launches, but more about the overall experience. Manta is not only the construction of the the coaster but of a musium. You get a personal overal understanding of the rays before you partake in the coaster. Remind you of Expidition Everest queue line? I believe that were moving into an age where rides can be what you may say 'cookie cutters'; however, the overall expirience and elements done on the ride make it a brand new expirience.

i figured that side would be the exit I believe that you enter from the left side and exit to the right. According to the blueprints that is what is planned.

I'm sure the pics think your sexy as well. . Looking at the drop from the plane gives you a new perspective on how massive the ride really is. Y'all laughed at me, Y'ALL LAUGHED! Whos a'laughen now? Since flying over KI in 2004 I can't agree with you more. Flying over KI has allowed me (and you fine folks at KIC) to witness the growing change. Now with Diamondback, it will be the new thing I search for when trying to find KI on the horizon.

Wonderful entry Avatar, I enjoyed seeing you on that day as well as the many others from this site! It was IMO Kings Islands greatest year ever. Its been an honor working with people like Ryan, Dane, Bill, Robbie, and Ronny during the events that happened this year. Can't wait to see you all next year!
