Ooh, ooh... and, from the Eiffel Tower, if you line up Dodge 'Em with Zephyr and go like, 530 some miles, you'll end up on Kings Island, NC! ( I've gotta shut down my Google Earth and get back to work...)
-
Not sure of the significence, but if you follow the line of intersection for 2,291 miles, you'll land in a place called Kingstown, on an Island called St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Well, Space Mountain isn't the most 'starter' among coasters, I'd say. [begins supercilious, Cambridge accent] Perhaps the lad needs, say, an "AE-BLSC-Racer-Beast" coaster-bravery-warmup regimen. That should do the trick, what?

Looping Water Slides!

"...Batman!" -
For like a second I thought I was seeing another, more distant (and much higher) skyride intersecting the 'real' one... Cool illusion, if even for just one second

I miss that giant compass on top of EV. It was such a nice touch.

EXCELLENT reference! (But aren't you being a little anti-Kings Island digging up old thrown away Nick characters to reference?! ) A more proper comment might have been "I bet most people here only get rocks"....wah wah wah WAH wah WAH. No, really, I'm just being, um.. nostalgic?

Hey, this one is really cool; no need to throw it under the bus I'm wondering if the 'new' trees were planted since '74, or if a couple of those are the little ones in the old pics 'all grown up'.. fascinating!

If you could choose music for KI's rides...
Thrill_Biscuit replied to TombRaiderFTW's topic in Kings Island
"Enter Sandman" would work on Diamondback, if 'ride along' audio were installed somehow. -
I just want the box! ...{/"Spongebob" voice off} Good luck to you all

It was impressive in person. The colors and contrasts were rich and vibrant, and different angles of sunlight made no two passes the same.

~(quote standbyme) "…and just like Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook, it helped put Kings Island on the map!" D'Oh! You beat me to it!!! Best episode ever!

I could almost smell the water and feel the spray from that picture of Keelboat Kanal (waay back a few posts)! To see how that area has changed is somewhat 'Twilight Zone' to me. That was my first-ever 'drop' ride back in 1980. It was as intimidating as it looks in this view. (Great job capturing virtually every color in the spectrum with the 'modern' shot... had it not been for that purple flower, you might not have pulled it off! Awesome, very meaningful thread, Standbyme!

Good Bye Beautiful Kings Island
Thrill_Biscuit replied to rip-phantomtheater's topic in Kings Island
I miss the music. Nuff said there; but what else is sadly gone is how Kings Island used to be isolated from the sprawl. That is, Mason, Landen, South Lebanon and Deerfield Township hadn't yet boomed into the near asphalt jungle' of today (tongue in cheek). Seriously, though, the park used to be 'out in the country,' so to speak. Beyond the 'fringes of the suburbs' and just inside the 'far unlit unknown' (quoting Neil Peart loosely) The Eiffel Tower once dominated the night sky, bathed in bright lights. Now, it looks tiny, dim, just another object amid thousands of ordinary streetlights of the now-intrusive surrounding communities. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily (I understand that you just can't stop progress), but it did add to the 'magic' of the park in years gone by. -
It's hilarious when it blocks out portions of otherwise innocuous words that it ***umes are curse words.

Do you mean coffee or meat?

It's a haul, and challenging with narrow, sidewalk-less streets...

AVATAR Is Going To Animal Kingdom
Thrill_Biscuit replied to Avatar's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I still call Surf Dog "Avatar" (some habits...). I thought there was a certain coaster/non-coaster about to make the trip down south! -
In Jolly Ol' England, a 'torch' is what you Yanks call a "flashlight." Fancy takin' a bleedin' flashlight to knock down a coaster!? It'd take a bit, I'd say, what? -Tb, just givin' a bit o' stick
-
That would be sick!

...and not one that's enclosed! (or should I say 'encrypted')
