  1. Okay, my friends! I take it back. I worded my gripe incorrectly. SDGC and SDATHC are great, enjoyable rides to take your kids on. I was only poking fun at the 30+ guests who I've seen riding these two attractions alone. It's unsightly! One more gripe: People walking around the park with 3D glasses from SBSP3D. They're supposed to go in the bucket, people!
  2. Watch it! I may be grown but Iam only a college student so therefore I dont have kids and I love scooby all the others you listed I can relate to. Zoinks! Fair enough, Scoob. College students excluded. I forgot one: Guests who freak out when they realize they have to get off the elevator at the top of the Eiffel Tower! They rode the darn thing up; what's so scary about standing still on an observation deck?!?
  3. 1. People (usually little punks) who spit on people from the staircase for Taz; 2. People who flip the finger to Security (behind their backs, of course) after being asked not to do something, then turn around and do it anyway; 3. Parents who complain out loud because their kid isn't tall enough to ride an attraction; 4. People who loudly express how much PKI rides suck, despite the fact that they will never have one fifth the talent nor imagination to ever create one; 5. Line jumpers; 6. Grown men riding any attraction ascribed to Scooby Doo (without their offspring); 7. People who tightrope-walk the rails of the covered path to AE; 8. People who slime the handrails with loogies; 9. People who cuss; 10. Basketballs
  4. "Top Gun", the movie, is 19 years old! Haven't there been any newer, cool jet-fighter films in the last two decades? Maybe there are fewer riders because the freakin' movie is in the Lawrence Welk league? The soundtrack provides nostalgia for a generation that can't ride the thing anymore, perhaps? Maybe it can be re-themed "Blackhawk Down" or "Behind Enemy Lines". Those are movies that are still kinda hip, and can be hyper-themed for maximum thrill effect. "Top Gun" was cool in the days before Anthony Edwards (and, yes, Tom Cruise) went bald. They won't get rid of the coaster; maybe they'll update it. Oh, wait! That includes your Thrill_Biscuit...Aaaaaargh!
  5. You might be a PKI addict if you... Go 7 miles out of the way from Blue Ash to go through the drive through at Kings Mills Taco Bell, then park in the farthest parking spot in the Cinema parking lot across the road, just to feel like I had lunch at the park. (Man, I'm cheap!)
  6. Whoever put F/O right next to the front entrance was a genius! Its signature "CLUNK! (pause) SCREAM!" seems to work as a kind of "Just look what we have in store for you!" sign for new visitors to the park. It shows the excitement of PKI in one, swift stroke (sorry, Mr. Lucas).
  7. Snow in the forecast??? Could this be.....Winterfest?
  8. ^What a coincidence! I was born in Mason, went to KI in '72 (yeah, I'm old), then moved to Detroit (well, Canton TWP) in '73, and loved the heck out of our 6 hour drive down here to visit our aunts and cousins in the 70's. My fave trip was in '77, where I rode the Slide over and over for 6 hours with my cousins! I can still hear "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder blaring over some loud speakers that were on the walk-up deck of the Eiffel Tower. (Everytime I hear that song, I'm back at old KI, running for the big Slide). Then I'd go back up to the 313 and brag to everybody about it!
  9. I'm not sure how peaceful the Paramount Story is going to remain, what with a new attraction featuring police sirens, helicopters and machine guns going in nearby.
  10. I miss the warm, glowing red light atop the Eiffel Tower (as opposed to the flashy strobe light). I also miss the tower without those ugly, square floodlights that make it look like something from an oil refinery at night.
  11. I tried to abbreviate "Beastie" in another post with "b", but I kept getting the emoticon with sunglasses. What's that coaster's real abbreviation?
  12. It seems that PKI has always had the ability to grow at any pace it wants to. It is already a very famous, very-awesome world-class park that is well-known the world over. Its lack of adult-only areas doesn't make it any less of a grand experience, no matter what age. It's one of the Giants. Period. Someone once said, "Always leave them wanting more!" The park has mastered this strategy over the years (just look at any 'rumors' list). Through the decades, I'm sure they'll continue to recognize the desires of its more mature guests and create new and exciting ways for them to enjoy their visits. The kids...will always yell and run; it's the inescapable part of the amusement park experience. In sharp contrast to the mundane aspects of life, the sheer excitement of the park invites them to have maximum fun: full-throttle. When we get older, we look (or feel) stupid running and yelling, so we develop other ways to enjoy our time there. We have fun watching our own kids go nuts in the park we grew up in. I saw a happy, 75-year-old man on The Racer, just enjoying the heck out of the ride. It seems that we'll never be too old to enjoy ol' PKI, adult area or none.
  13. Is this a new structure, or are they re-theming an existing attraction? Can the juke box be activated by bouncing one's fist on the view glass? Will it have a spinning, neon "A" on top of the roof? Even if not, this new addition deserves a well deserved two thumbs up....in a leather jacket....seated upon a Triumph...aaaaaaaaaaaay!
  14. I wonder what the landscaping will look like come spring. This attraction seems to be such a dramatic contrast from the surrounding aesthetics. PKI is always beautifully groomed and landscaped; IJST looks almost too 'industrial zone' for its location. Any thoughts?
  15. Vortex, during a thunderstorm! (yes, PKI should find a way to control the weather!) In close second place is any PKI coaster (except AE or when there is a first-time coaster rider in the car in front of me! Watching someone get the he11 scared out of 'em on our beloved coasters never gets old!
  16. Sadly, there will always be those disrespectful punks who'll light up when the "coast is clear" (such as in the 'deep' lines for AE, Beast, WWC, even Racer). As soon as crew or security is out of sight, out comes the smoke. Sure, they'll try to politely hide their cigs with the "cupped-hand, shallow toke" trick, but the same respect they have for their lungs is the respect they have for their fellow guests. Too cool to follow rules, I suppose.
  17. According to my dad, who claims to have watched KI being built, any authentic pictures would feature a double-bladed helicopter hoisting ugly, unpainted orange lattices into place over a muddy, unpaved international street. Has anyone else heard of this, or seen any old pics?
  18. It seems funny how wildly varied the theming is for that train ride! Let's see, you leave the old river town of Losantisville (Cincinnati) on a pleasant, wild-west journey through the Little Miami River valley, encounter a petrified bear, a dilapidated hotel, a witches' academy (!), and then end up in modern-day Australia without ever crossing the Pacific! Wow! (Seriously, it's still a neat little narrow-gauge, and hopefully, that cool whistle will always echo through the park.)
  19. Wasn't PKI the first park to feature Hannah-Barberra characters? I heard on a Cincinnati radio station this weekend that some HB cartoons were conceived at "Kings Productions" in Cincinnati in the 60's. (I know that the "Kings" name might be coincidental, given that the park was the result of moving Coney ISLAND to KINGS mills.) It seems reasonable, however, that the park would hold on to its HB legacy because of its local significance. Just a thought.
  20. How about an Orange County Chopper Coaster! Three sets of custom-built, side-by-side chopper cars tearing through the Kings Mills backwoods on one hell of a fast, terrain-following steel track with "wheelie" hops and fishtail turns! Even a photo section that superimposes a walrus mustache on the faces of the riders! Now that would be awesome!
  21. I think a small, new midway, "Memory Lane", with Flying Eagles, Der Spinnen Keggers, Flying Dutchman (back in vogue, thanks to the Spongebob franchise, btw), and Bayern Curve would be nice. This way, the old "Jabber Jaw" character can be brought out of the mothballs, and....you'll have your sharks!
  22. "Flight of Fear" can be changed to "Flight of Pain"... I can't believe that no one has come up with the name "Timber Tantrum" for a wooden coaster! (Or have they?)
  23. PKI needs a giant Chance Skyscraper!
  24. Make the existing elevator(s) air-launch, like that thing at CP. The operator would only have enough time to say "Welcome to the Kings Island Eif-" before reaching the observation deck, but hey! It'd be fun!
