  1. Taken from Screamscape.com: ^ Another QR code from the park, this time placed inside the actual park close to the Carolina Cobra. And, is it just me, or does that metal structure at the bottom look just a wee bit familiar? ^ Well, whaddya know? Looks like Carowinds is set to Seek Wind in 2012. Let the coaster enthusiast rage COMMENCE!
  2. ^ You mean a new wave pool and a renovation of Boomerang Bay? Hot diggity dog!!
  3. ^ So that means they probably won't be releasing the list of attractions until then. Awesome.
  4. I do find it interesting that the post is signed by the Caretaker and not the Overlord. I would expect that, given the Overlord being the corporate face of the Cedar Fair Haunts, he would be signing off any and all Haunt blog posts (why an otherworldly monstrosity would find time to type out his feelings on an online diary is beyond me ). But with Knott's dropping their Overlord and some negative feedback regarding our own from last year, maybe the Caretaker is coming back as the aforementioned "host". EDIT: Also, Knott's Berry Farm's Haunt site is finally up: http://haunt.knotts.com/ DOUBLE EDIT: Scarowinds XI has their site, which looks infinitely better than everyone else's: http://www.carowinds.com/scarowinds/
  5. you know that know there is going to be people going thru cornstalkers and when ever some one jumps out there going to say is that you KIcook304! lol TopGun1993 is famous for doing the exact same thing in a video of CornStalkers asking every monster that popped out if they were Brad. So then your telling us that it will be in a new location. I hope it is the DA pathway, I hope I am right!!! The park has told us themselves CornStalkers will be in a new location; it's just that they've yet to tell us where it's going. But since Trail of Terror isn't coming back due to Dinosaurs Alive!, I sincerely doubt they're gonna throw a completely different attraction on the path if they won't put the original there.
  6. Because they have a ventilation system in place that permits them the ability to have real fire effects. I'm under the assumption they would need to have a brand new ventilation system installed in order to have real fire on the ride.
  7. Now now, no need to get dolled up if it's only two new attractions this year, even if a revamped CornStalkers should be listed as a new attraction (as is rumored with the Dominion).
  8. Depending on the temperature on the 15th, I'd advise heading to the water park right when it opens; otherwise, expect a TON of crowds at the Bay by around 2 or 3pm if it's over 90 degrees outside.
  9. Because Tony is head of the Operations Department, of which Entertainment is roped in with Rides.
  10. 4 Regular Tickets - 35.99 Online ; 52.99 Gate = 143.96 ; 211.96 4 Fast Passes - 50.00 ; 35.00 Mon-Fri this week = 200.00 ; 140.00 243.96 = Online Tickets + Fast Pass 411.96 = Gate Tickets + Fast Pass 280.96 = Online Tickets + Mon-Fri Fast Pass 351.96 = Gate Tickets + Mon-Fri Pass 4 Platinum Passes - 165.00 Online = 660.00 One Platinum Pass alone costs more than buying four tickets online for a family of four. Platinum Passholders pay a one-time fee to get access to the park every day its open to the public. Regular ticket buyers pay a one-time fee to get access to the park on the one day they can actually go. And even if it's only a single person with a single Fast Pass, the Platinum Passholder still paid more on a one-time fee. Calling people out for shelling extra money towards something they actually need is extremely hypocritical when you yourself shelled out almost twice as much money simply because you want to go to the park more than they can actually do. Who's more elitist here - the ones with a special pass netting them unlimited access to an amusement park and expecting everything to be catered specifically towards them because they assume they are the most loyal customers, or the ones with an ordinary ticket netting them a single day at an amusement park and having everything catered specifically towards them because they are the most loyal customers?
  11. Aaaaaaand Lance Hart does it again: I'm really, REALLY hoping they don't change the name to Soak City. That's about as generic a name/theme as one can get. Say what you will about a second wave pool possibly being the only new thing installed, but I don't want to see the Aussie theme get axed for a generic setup just to make it look like every other park in the chain (although Paramount did the exact same thing in redoing the water parks to become Boomerang Bay).

RED attractions are ones installed and/or rethemed during the Haunt years. BLUE attractions are ones installed and/or rethemed during the FearFest years. BOLD attractions are ones still at the event as of now and in their current state. Note that this does not include the shows from over the years.
  13. He should also design more Haunt mazes; Urgent Scare is still the best attraction they're ever done.
  14. That maze holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first one I worked in at my first 'Fest. Just to let you know, the closest KI has ever gotten to that level of quality is Urgent Scare. Now, this makes me wonder if CornStalkers is one of the two new attractions for this year. I say that because one of Kings Dominion's 'new' mazes is rumored to be a revamped CornStalkers. But I wouldn't be upset if this were the case. In fact, I kinda wish they considered Red Beard's Revenge from 2007 a 'new' attraction.
  15. Actually, the first season Sleepy Hollow Horror was at the 'Fest was the last year Curse was at the 'Fest. I can definitely see a post-apocalyptic/zombie maze go in for our Haunt, much like Knott's Virus Z haunt: That theme has enough blood and gore to satisfy Haunt management, and zombies are still cool and culturally relevant. Although it may be a bit too similar to Urgent Scare, which is technically a zombie/virus maze.
  16. From the desk of one Lance Hart: Any and all rumors from Screamscape shall be taken with a grain of salt, but I'm digging the idea of another add-on to the Bay. Hasn't really been given any TLC since its big '04 remodel as an Aussie-themed park. ....and now I wait for the coaster fanboys to come running in with threats of boycotting the park if the water park gets attention and the hard park doesn't.
  17. Yes they did: Curse of the Crypt was the first and only maze to go right behind the Coney Arcade. Its last year of operation was 2004. Several problems plagued this attraction, from the lack of lighting throughout most of the attraction (two-thirds were only lit with strobes pulsing similar to a beating heart), to numerous injuries sustained from both guest and actor (mostly attributed to the lack of lighting). Also, this was when the entrance to Death Row - back then, Maze of Madness - was situated where the souvenir stand beside Zephyr rests now, and having two lines that close together caused major headaches for guests. After the Crypt's closure, a vast majority of its props were moved to Tomb Raider, with bits and pieces finding their way into other attractions. In a bit of neat trivia, both Club Blood and Wolf Pack reuse some of Crypt's wall panels, which is kinda freaky given the original theme of Curse was a mix of vampires, werewolves, and mummies. Okay, history lesson aside, it would be neat for them to finally utilize that space again, as it is a fairly large building. If Death Row or the building it sits in (the red shed opposite Flight of Fear) won't be used for this year's Haunt, then that could technically give X-Base an opportunity to regain another maze.
  18. They've never roped the shows in with the houses to increase their Haunt count. Which is kinda stupid, because if they add in the two shows and three zones with the roaming monsters, that's 19 total attractions right there. That's even more bragging rights they could pull by saying they're the largest haunted event on the eastern side of the US.
  19. Yeah, given the fact that last year saw 12 attractions, this does mean two houses are being replaced. But this still doesn't necessarily mean that two brand-new, built from scratch houses will debut, or it will be more of what we saw when the event transformed into the Haunt (as in, every attraction was renamed and had more blood thrown on it). As it stands, though, here's my thoughts on what I think could be new this year: Maze 1 - Doll Factory. The one maze people have been clamoring for for years now. Rumors are strong that it will finally come to Kings Island, but no one is for certain that it will. The question is where to put it. I had assumed that it would replace CarnEvil as that was rumored to be gone, but the recent tweet from the park negates this. I really want to see a house being put in Peanuts Playhouse, and a Doll Factory maze would fit perfectly in the area, so to speak. Maze 2 - Undecided. The infamous Trail of Terror is without a home now. That's a massive amount of props, costumes, and cast of talent to look into. Obviously the cast can or will be moved into a new house. But, for me, it's up in the air as to what the particular theme will be. A slight retheme is possible for TOT if they decide to put it in another neck of the woods, with a Camp Kiluae/Gonnagetcha as the main contender for me (perhaps even replacing either CornStalkers or Tombstone Terrortory). Either that, or all of its props will be scattered throughout the park and other attractions, and a new maze is erected someplace else. Death Row's possible removal also begs the question of whether or not something will go in its place, or if X-Base will be the only area of the park without a Haunt maze. As it stands, no noticeable construction has been reported about areas not ordinarily housing mazes being prepped for that occasion (such as Action Theater, Stunt Crew Grill, and SBNO's station), so we're left with prior maze locations. Fear Zone - Planet Snoopy. Although their use of the term is very vague. Originally, it was used to describe outdoor attractions that didn't require one to wait in line (CornStalkers and worksite up until mid-2006), but they were quickly made to include queue lines. Thus, the term was no longer needed. Recently, however, people have coined the phrase to describe the themed areas that the roamers/creepers reside in (Coney, Action Zone, & Rivertown), yet they aren't included in the attraction lineup list. If the term is being used for the big areas, then PS is the most likely candidate, as it's the last patch of land not currently overrun by monsters. Using this area as a zone is also needed if Peanuts Playhouse is to hold an attraction this year. Unfortunately, this could also mean they're roping all roamers and creepers to one single area, specifically a long stretch of road that isn't used all too often by a majority of guests (think Halloweekends' Fright Zone). The path from Dodgems to the Floral Clock comes to mind. The one other thing that has me perplexed is that a few other Cedar Fair Haunts are getting a fairly large overhaul. Kings Dominion is rumored to get three new scare zones, a few new shows, and two new attractions of their own (although one is proposed to be a redesign of their CornStalkers maze). Carowinds is also rumored to be receiving a major overhaul, with several attractions getting axed from the lineup. I would say the same could be said for us as well, but the KI blog says we still have 12 attractions, so the idea of our event getting downsized is out of the question. Though to be honest, I'd prefer five to six really good haunts as opposed to ten to twelve mediocre ones.
  20. ^ I know exactly how you feel. A combination of Wolf Pack's sub-par and Twilight-infused talent, Death Row's lack of talent, and the new placement of Urgent Scare's photo booth left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. With all the money they pump into advertising and getting bits like Half-Pint Brawlers to come to the event, it's really sad to see the heart of Haunt - namely, the houses and the talent within them - become neglected and abandoned.
  21. They only complain about the fact that they're not steel coasters. Seriously, think about it. What's the one thing everyone here wanted out of Holiday World prior to this announcement? This....is just sad. Kings Island won't give you a steel coaster, so you go to their next door neighbor and expect them to up and build one in their backyard because the ones in your OWN backyard (for the ones that live close to KI) aren't good enough?
  22. I love how the owners of the Facebook page begged people not to spoil what was seen in the leaked video, adding "pretty please" to the end of their plea.
  23. Except for when people get off Congo Falls and feel the need to wring their clothes out in the middle of the restroom. Then one is obligated to carry a life raft just to get to the other side!
  24. You do realize they're not gonna say there were complaints about Fast Lane if there's only a miniscule amount of them, right? Heck, they never acknowledge the fact that people have negative opinions on stuff with as many people no Facebook whining this year about WindSeeker, DA!, Fast Lane and what have you. I also love the comment someone said earlier about people on KICentral being their most loyal "customers". Really? The ones who pay a one-time fee of $165 to get unlimited access to all the Cedar Fair parks without paying per visit? The ones who don't spend money in the park on food because it has either a high price or a low quality? The ones who only come to the park to marathon roller coasters and pass all the other attractions in the park simply because they don't register with said people as "thrill rides"? The ones who complain about the park not giving them a coaster every year because they're instead catering to the families that spend well over $200 in one day as it's their one trip to the park this season? That's not loyalty; that's outright selfishness.
  25. Trail of Terror has all but been confirmed by the park themselves to be gone due to Dinosaurs Alive! being in its place, so to speak. That doesn't necessarily mean they can't or won't put it in another location, or throw all of its props into another maze, though (or, even better, replace Tombstone with Trail). As for Death Row, that maze has long been rumored to be on the chopping block for years now, so it's not surprising to hear that idea rear its ugly head again. Though, honestly speaking, with what they did to it last year (replacing the veteran inmates who knew how to scare people with Club Blood women who don't), it definitely does need to be put to rest. There's no way they can bounce back up to the top after that mess.
