But according to another thread, we need to talk about Son of Beast at some point as well.

^^ You're forgetting Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is famous for having "wiggling orange paper" to simulate flames, and still looks awesome to this date. ^ I remember an old maze from the FearFest days that couldn't have fog because of its location (Curse of the Crypt in Coney Arcade), and every time they tried to have fog, the fire alarm would go off. Anyway, every time I'm in the preshow chamber, I just wish that they had sprung for THIS guy instead: ...and have him sitting on a throne. Then, when everyone is inside the room, he rises up and gives a speech of some kind (most likely one involving trespassing onto forbidden grounds and disturbing the restless spirits that are trapped in the Crypt). Most everyone that's into haunted houses have seen this creature at a number of places like USS Nightmare, Dead Acres, and Land of Illusion.

I beg to differ. After six years in Park Services (specifically cleaning restrooms), I still feel the need to walk into every restroom in the park, even when I DON'T need to go.
-
Only two of them are officially on the list, Boo Boo's Blasters and Mr. Brown's Race For His Life. Which, coupled with reports of seeing folks with wristbands strolling up to the exit of several other attractions not on the specified list, means that this isn't a very enforced policy they have going on. Which also doesn't surprise me as this came out of the blue and is still in its infancy.

Gay couple asked to reverse shirt at Dollywood
RingMaster replied to ChazyG's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And yet, there are some folks that do come to the park and do just that. They don't blatantly hand them out in public view, though; they stick them in bathroom stalls. And I have well over 60 of them to prove it. But in terms of the issue of gay marriage, I'll just say the same thing I've always said when someone brings up gay marriage in a negative light: "Dude, we have drive-thru chapels, people marrying for money or social status instead of love, and just flat-out abuse of marriage, and you have the nerve to both A] call it a SACRED institution and B] deny certain people of the ability to do the same exact things I just mentioned, all because you think they'll abuse it?" -
So, essentially, a clone of Knott's very own Terror of London attraction at their Haunt: I would love to see that implemented here at Kings Island, but given what they've done with a few of the mazes in the current lineup (Slaughterhouse and Club Blood specifically), I'd stand to believe an attraction of this caliber is way out of our park's reach when it comes to scope and attention to detail. Which is also why I'm nervous to see what the new mazes for this year will look like, as I'm afraid they'll either skimp on scenery and thematic elements or just coat every wall with blood and call it a maze.

A. I'm still hoping they put the ToT props in White Water Canyon's exit and move the Tombstone Terrortory props/costumes outside in Rivertown. At least here this would net them one of the two new mazes and the new fear zone, as Rivertown is the only area without an official name (Action Zone - Waste Land, Coney Mall - Coney Maul), and it would be a brand new experience from before. B. I figured MM was still up as I saw its layout on the massive PDF map of the park for that 5k walk. I was always under the assumption they had it taken down to have more space to store regular items for merch/games. They need to invest a lot in rehabbing the maze, though; compared to what's been built in recent years, the Manor is sorely lacking in scenery throughout most of its halls. C. I agree with you on cornHUSKERS cornSTALKERS failing to satisfy. It's simply because they don't have enough CORN to set up on both sides of the path, and when there's a slight wind, all of the fog disappears and you can see all the way down the path. I thought they did invest in new costumes recently, as the Amish theme and crow monsters are only about a year or two old. But if the maze doesn't come back this year, that makes another massive batch of props and costumes to put in Rivertown. D. Allow to me to offer this one simple retort if it is true that we may be getting a Toy Factory maze.....AUGHALIHGILBSIHGAOPHADBJBLSBEOYUGSOUBEIJNBL. That was my overreaction to finally getting a Doll/Toy Factory house for our Haunt. The only question is where to put it? If CarnEVIL is gone, I can definitely see it going there, provided it means the old attraction gets a massive overhaul, and it's not just a bunch of toys strewn about the old attraction and slapping a new name on it. If the clowns stay where they are, then maybe the Peanuts Playhouse at the opposite end of Planet Snoopy will finally be home to a Haunt attraction.

It's actually happened twice before when they've shut the park down for an hour, although it was when a private event was at the park during the day (I believe it was Toyota). The first Saturday of Haunt is also the first day the park is back open to the public after Labor Day Weekend.

Carowinds' Giant Frisbee?
RingMaster replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Fix'd. I saw the Screamscape post of this and wondered, WHY? Also, the Cedar Fair HUSS rides aren't the only ones with bad reliability track records. Timber Tower down in Dollywood is closed for the rest of the season because of the need for new parts. -
The only way I'd pay for a house at KI is if it were of the "extreme house" variety (meaning the monsters can touch/grab you and are generally left by yourself or with one other person), and even then that's a barrier I don't see the park stepping over anytime soon. Although this sounds more like Haunt may finally be an upcharge event like they've been wanting to do for the past several years. At least it would finally weed out some of the idiotic parents who have the audacity to complain to Guest Services that their kid got scared.

Why does that not surprise me the least if that were true?

So....something like this? Also, something really irks me. Not long after I said this: ...I surf the web looking at haunted houses and find this: http://www.halloween...nted_house.html ...a company offering a SAW 3D haunted house. Specifically with a warning label saying they only sell "on a first come first serve basis and are exclusive to each market." Given that SAW is still popular these days for whatever reason, and the rumor from last year that CarnEVIL had its last laughs in 2010, could this be its replacement? It would most certainly tie in with the "more blood, terror, and gore than ever before" mantra they've been shoving down our throats, not to mention even more bragging rights as they would have a house dedicated to an extremely popular horror film franchise (let alone a three-year deal to keep everyone else from having said attraction of their own).

So many things can be interpreted here on this lone tweet. Sounds as if Planet Snoopy might finally be annexed to the Haunt, as I believe they refer the themed areas of the park as fear zones (Coney Maul - Coney Mall). Of course Rivertown doesn't technically have a name for its fear zone, so they might finally decide to give it the proper Ghost Town theme it deserves. As for the two new mazes, I'd assume one of them is a relocated Trail of Terror with a minor retheme if DA! won't be used (which I'm assuming it will not). The other is up in the air, but the fan favorite attraction everyone wants to see is a Doll Factory maze. Whether or not KI decides to finally install one or instead build another gore-centric house (like one similar to the SAW franchise) is beyond me.

If I see people with a Fast Pass the first and last full week the park is open next season, I'm going to slap each and every one of them silly. With kids still in school, absolutely NO ONE is in the park, and one can get all of the coasters done - TWICE - in an hour.
-
Tuesdays were Double Ride Tuesdays where you could get a second ride on a coaster without having to get off in a specific row. Wednesdays I believe were early openings for Boomerang Bay. Saturdays and Sundays were the walk-on specials were you could hop on specific rides without waiting in line (Drop Zone, Delirium, Haunted Castle, River Adventure, and Stunt Track). I forget what Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays were, though...
-
I'm not surprised that most of the rides listed would have the Speed Pass installed. Delirium, Drop Zone, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Boo Boo's Blasters, and The Blockhead's Race For His Life were the five attractions that were utilized in Paramount's very own Speed Lane back in 2004-2005, as they (still) have their own separate queue that was never removed. Diamondback already has/had a single-rider queue, so no surprise there. Firehawk has a fairly wide wheelchair access bridge from the entrance to the station. Beast and FoF are the only ones I have a question of how a separate lane would be installed. But I mean if one were to really, REALLY, look at this Speed Lane situation, Saturday is the only day a pass of this caliber would be necessary. Lines are at their longest on the weekend for painfully obvious reasons; thus, a way to bypass a majority of the big lines on the busiest day of the week is simply AWESOME SAUCE. ....I just kinda hope that if a Speed Pass is made for the Haunt, it won't cost the same. Spending $100 on a lackluster event is really pushing it, even though it means being able to get through all the houses in one night.
-
They tried it for a single year back in 2005 using the same method as the Speed Lane for certain attractions that same year (IJ, Drop Zone, Wild Thornberrys, etc.). Unfortunately, they always managed to run out of passes an hour or two after they started handing them out. But if there's one aspect of the park that would benefit from a FastPass system, it would be the Haunt. Lines can reach up to over 2+ hours even on a Friday, and attempting to get through every maze in one night is almost impossible. A single use pass would net the ability to get through every house within the span of 1-2 hours. It would also help those who only go to the Haunt once during its run. Halloween Horror Nights does the same thing, simply called the Express Pass.

RUMOR: California Great America Closing?
RingMaster replied to CodyDL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They've already removed one coaster from CGA's lineup (Invertigo) and are relocating it to another Cedar Fair park (Dorney Park) for next season: http://www.cagreatamerica.com/news/detail.cfm?item_id=1069 http://www.wfmz.com/lehighvalleynews/27467102/detail.html To which this now makes two coasters in Dorney's lineup that are transplants from other parks, the second being their Possessed ride, originally Steel Venom @ Geauga Lake. -
I think Tanna is referring to the LACK of stalks in cornSTALKERS, and thus ought to be renamed to cornHUSKERS.

Worlds Steepest Roller Coaster Drop
RingMaster replied to ki4evr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The first ten seconds of that ride leading up to the indoor barrel roll led me to believe this would be a clone of Thorpe Park's SAW coaster...until the launch occurred. Looks like one wicked ride. -
I am in no way about to rehash a "ZOMG THERE ANNOUNCING A NEW COASTER 4 2012 AT KING'S ISLAND!!!11!!!" comment, but if a new CEO of a company who has yet to even start working at said company is saying one of his parks is announcing new additions for the 40th anniversary (especially considering this is the same park/company that pushed aside several anniversary milestones to promote other attractions, there's a good chance this is something vastly different than a lone Haunt attraction for the 2011 season.
-
....I didn't even know those four attractions HAD fans with misters in their queues.
-
I was hoping/expecting that the original Fearsome Four - Trail of Terror, Massacre Manor, Death Row, and CarnEVIL - would be given a massive overhaul or even removed between this year and next, as they are the oldest of the bunch and turn 10 years old this Haunting season. That said, if there is no replacement for or relocation of the Trail, you're talking about a major blow to the event as it is one of, if not, THE most popular attraction the Haunt has to offer. As to what shall replace either of those two attractions if those aren't coming back? No idea. I'd take a pretty good guess that this isn't the end of Trail of Terror. Not to mention, there's still quite a number of locations to house a maze that either have yet to be used or haven't been used in a while....
-
*facepalm* I don't want to be here when the official announcement is unveiled for the Haunt attraction(s). I'm still reeling from the backlash over DA!...
-
...Case closed, I guess. Guess the coaster fans won't be getting that Timmy Mega-Lite for next year in place of Sonny.
