  1. From what I've been led to believe, Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, 4th of July/Presidents Day, and maybe New Year are the holidays to be featured. And before anyone gets on my case about the idea of Presidents Day being used in HH...Zombie Presidents and Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
  2. ^^ Aw SNAP. That actually makes me excited for Mysteria compared to when I first heard where it was gonna go. Also....that face in the picture looks vaguely familiar...
  3. ^ I know that it has nothing to do with jail; just that it's merely another wardrobe change like when they went from Asylum to Death Row and not changing a thing to the maze interior itself.
  4. Mysteria is another re-theme of Death Row. Much like how Death Row was a re-theme of The Asylum back in 2007. What has me perplexed is the fact that they have Nightmare Alley on the list of outdoor mazes with the description detailing it to be a scare zone (as the ad for the Fright Lane is nonexistent), but the other three zones with roaming monsters in it (Waste Land, Coney Maul, and Ghost Town) aren't listed. Although I love how they used the old description for Trail of Terror for NA.
  5. We did have (something similar to) that. And there's a good reason why we don't have that anymore.
  6. They said either right before or right after Labor Day Weekend is when they'd release the Haunt info.
  7. ...by the way, I call dibs on the Jackeroo riding the surfboard atop Jackeroo Landing. EDIT @ 2:30 AM: Okay, I actually found a reason to be legitimately upset with the expansion, and it's more with how they're marketing it. On the Compare For Yourself page for Soak City, one of the bullet points listed is for roller coasters. Seriously? You're using roller coasters as justification to say your WATER PARK is better than the others? I hate how the Marketing Dept. does the same thing with the Haunt (implying that you shouldn't go to other haunted houses because THEY don't have a roller coaster in their parking lot) and it's a cheap shot putting down other local attractions because they somehow don't match up to whatever level the park has (in terms of Haunt, KI is at a very low level when it comes to their mazes compared to others ). Aside from that gripe, totally fine with Soak City.
  8. I believe Howl-o-Fest will still reside in the Picnic Grove; the Triceratops Trick-or-Treat Trail is most likely completely optional just like DA! is normally. EDIT: Also, forget what I said earlier about not liking the "de-theme". I'm already over it and can't wait to see the new season pass entrance and second wave pool. It's already double what Paramount paid for when it became Boomerang Bay ($4 million versus $10 million).
  9. ^ That's just their generic description for the event that they've had for the past 10 or so years. Even with all of the different attractions they have available they've never added specific maze themes aside from the original four attractions (Trail, Death Row, CarnEvil, and Manor). EDIT: Not to mention Tombstone Terrortory is also in the woods and is supposedly coming back.
  10. I'm a little bit late to the party, so allow me to throw in my two cents: ASFDUHGAREUIGABAGHFUIBVABLGABOGANBAUGBANEBJHBJ. ^ That was my reaction to seeing the rendering of the new water park and the new path behind the former Jackeroo Lagoon. I've been waiting for a long time to see the water park become a nice loop rather than a bunch of dead ends. But I'm still mad that they're "de-theming" to Soak City. Even though it wasn't the only Aussie-themed water park in the chain, at least it had more personality than what Soak City plans to be.
  11. Didn't WLWT say that Diamondback was going to be a dive machine as well? That was a certain Speigel that said that, although he said it on WLWT's site so they technically could be at fault as well.
  12. KI doesn't have a TopSpin. TopSpins are far more vigorous and fun than the Giant model KI (and ONLY KI) has. Same is true of Frisbees... Exactly. It's no secret our Giant Top Spin isn't capable of much. Great America's Top Spin does nine flips. Wouldn't you like that to be located inside our building, with theatrical lights and water all around it? ^ Hey, congrats on 32,000 posts, Interpreter! That actually makes one wonder how they would be able to remove one flat ride and install another in said building without excess damage/destruction done to the building itself? If I recall, they built the ride structure first, then built the enclosure after they got finished.
  13. Well, MM's giant inverted boomerang is being moved to another park so that's one extreme variable they're losing, but I think all the other coasters more than make up for its loss.
  14. The larger price tag may be due to the install of the newer damper system in place at Knott's 'Seeker: (from Westcoaster.com)
  15. As per last year, Friday night tickets are actually less than the Starlight tickets at $21.99 and $27.99 respectively (online or with coupon). Gate prices were 34.99 Friday and the regular price for a ticket Saturday. Hopefully the same discounts will be used this year. EDIT: Also, WOOOO, Platinum Member/1,500th post!
  16. ^ Probably either 11:59 or 12:01 this topic will close.
  17. ^ It's just as picture of a tombstone by the Eiffel Tower. For some reason the way this forum is set up won't let you put Twitter pics on here.
  18. You can keep telling people that til there's no dead horse left to beat, but I guarantee the day before the park opens next year there will be at least ONE person still expecting the park to build a roller coaster in time for it to open 24 hours later. EDIT: I was also about to ask why there were so many people in here until I realized it's the last day of August and no announcement has been made. My bad.
  19. I actually wouldn't mind paying a separate admission for Haunt if it meant that the haunts themselves underwent a massive upgrade to the level seen at Knott's or Universal. As it stands with the vast majority of the mazes they have available, they don't even pass the quality seen at a home haunt. So they'd need a complete overhaul of their event before they make it a separate admission.
  20. There's still the Mystery of what the second Haunt maze is set to be. Unless they already gave out the name and we overlooked it or mistook it for something else.
  21. From the desk of Screamscape: So far there are 487 comments discussing the removal of Paddlewheel Excursion, a very large portion of them negative. Here I thought Busch Gardens got a ton of flak after the removal of Big Bad Wolf (or even our very own park for the combination of our DA! and the delayed opening of WindSeeker), but that was nothing compared to what's going on with the Point. Maybe it's because they're not making way for a new coaster to go on Millennium Island...
  22. ......The Fair ought to give us El Dorado. That looks like a neat ride. Only question is where to put it.
  23. ^ Seems a bit early for them to be decking the halls, but then again, people get ready for the holidays earlier and earlier I suppose...
  24. Anybody seen any of the Peanuts Holiday films? I have yet to see It's the Easter Beagle, but I have seen It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Be My Valentine...
  25. Here's a list of things you should be doing if you decide to become a monster. If you: aren't sore or aching in pain by the end of the night haven't made someone cry from scaring them that bad haven't had someone throw a beverage on you haven't made someone think you are having convulsions/seizures haven't sweated off your makeup halfway through the night haven't dry heaved from pushing yourself past your limits ...then YOU AREN'T DOING YOUR JOB RIGHT. Being a monster in a haunted house requires inhuman levels of blood, sweat, and tears that you won't see in a lot of other jobs at the park. It's as close to being an actor in an Oscar-winning drama as you can get, meaning you have to make your audience believe you are a force to be reckoned with. It's not simply popping out of a closet and going BOO, but becoming something people will genuinely fear and be afraid of. Also, do not, I repeat, DO NOT be afraid to act crazy. Sanity is all but forbidden at the Haunt. The crazier the better. Don't be shy or timid (unless a role specifically calls for that or you know how to make shy and timid scary); be loud and aggressive. Get up close and personal with them. You can get up to an inch away from their face and, without touching them, scare them silly as their personal bubble pops. They've entered your territory, and that means it's time to defend it. One last thing, this is a team effort. It is a lot harder if a single person tries to scare a large group, although in some cases, you may be all by yourself and have to go rogue. But if the opportunity comes or you have other monsters to work with, by all means, WORK WITH THEM. Tag-teaming is a killer way to get people into the fetal position when they realize they are surrounded. Also, ping-ponging works fantastically with other monsters; scare a person and lead them to the next monster, they scare them and lead them to the next one and so on. You (should) have the ability to work with veteran monsters, some of them are back for Round 2, others are almost living legends they've been here so long. Don't be afraid to talk to them to get tips, they are a gold mine of information and they will go out of their way to help become one of the greats. After all, the Haunt crew is like family. One big dysfunctional family. Hope this works out for ya, - The RingMaster.
