I'd rather see Phantom Theater contained to just Kings Island or to KI and one other theme park. Pushing it out to the other parks would make it less far less unique and would probably not work as well theming-wise. It definitely would not work with the Justice League dark rides without some major adjustments, especially in the parks where it's square in the middle of a DC-themed land. I think Scooby Doo and Boo Blasters worked as an addition for Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds, and Kings Dominion because it was a classic small interactive dark ride. It could work as a non-interactive dark ride, but I think it would lose something at those parks. On my 2019 trip to Elitch Gardens I was able to ride the Meow Wolf kaleidoscope dark ride after it had been converted from either Scooby Doo or Boo Blasters (almost a clone of the one at KD), and I don't recall it having the laser guns. The theme made up for it, but the lack of the interactive aspects made it a little worse in my book.

I actually kind of like the 25th Anniversary merch. It reminds me of the old FearFest website from 2005 and is a mix of the general mid-2000's to early-2010's aesthetic.

A show like Tinker's has actors, set pieces, and props all over the stage with most of them being used throughout the show. Yuletide Follies used the entire Bandstand stage with each of the tiers having either performers or set pieces that fill it out. I think the entire PTE stage is still there and most of it is used for Tinker's Toy Factory, it just looks different because it's covered in Christmas props. They might have added onto it more than that. Swingin' Into Christmas has the band on both tiers of the Festhaus stage, but they don't move during the show. There's only the 6 singer/dancers for that show as well who use the remaining open space of the stage. They would have too much space to work with on the KIT stage.

If Soak City made a hard shift to being its own separately-ticketed gate, I think it would be an opportunity to move everything between the KI&MV RR and the power lines over to the other side of the wave pools. Far too many things would need to move, but it'd solve the issue of having high-voltage power lines in the middle of the water park. Now I've gotten myself interested in a highly theoretical change...

Six Flags released a teaser today with a bunch of coasters going up their lift hills saying there is a "Big drop coming on National Coaster Day" (sic). I'm wondering if this could also be an announcement day for all 2026 additions. The teaser definitely makes me think that we'll see an announcement for SFOT's giga dive coaster and maybe one for another coaster allegedly coming for another park like Magic Mountain. This would also be a good time to announce all of the other 2026 additions, but who knows what that timeline looks like. It'd be a good time to do it as well since it would make another push for 2026 pass sales in the middle of the whole MVP sale. I'm a big proponent for "don't leave guests hanging" in terms of announce ride removal / run teaser campaign / announce new ride / maintain the hype. Waiting too long might leave guests hanging. I wasn't a fan of the botched rollout of the MVP sale, hopefully the 2026 announcements will be more consistent in their timing and groupings. I wonder, if the entrance remained in the same place, how much of the castle facade would remain unchanged. Keeping the castle would not reflect it being a version of Phantom Theater very well IMO. Re-doing it to be more similar to the theater facade would only add to it. As for the interior, I think they could keep some of the good/relevant props and replace the rest. As long as they get rid of the kooky castle walls and bring back the abandoned theater feeling I think it could shake out well. Even as a screen-based attraction I think they'd still need to have some well-placed curtains and props in every scene. They'd need to animate anything that would go on the screens either way. The paranormal investigator plot line would only really work in a Boo Blasters or Scooby Doo version of Phantom Theater IMO. I like "Phantom Theater: Revival" a lot more than the other options for the name precisely because it's a theatrical term like "Encore" was for the show. Switching the spelling of "Theater" to "Theatre" might not help since guests already mess up the spelling of the original and since it would feel more like a lazy oversight.

"Dear Ms. Parton, have you ever been to Ohio?" I heard on a recent GreenTagged podcast that some of the decisions Six Flags made in 2025 are consistent with a company that is "cash poor" and needs cash now [Call JG Wentworth, 877-CASHNOW]. Someone who understands the above point would probably be willing/able to rake in cash while steering the company in a direction like a Herschend executive would.

They have a streetcar that (I believe) they use for some of their parades, but I think they'd also use the Tricks and Treats Parade floats well. Shipping the floats and decorations around is probably better/cheaper than selling them to a place that can't use the Tricks and Treats name. I found it interesting that Magic Mountain and Discovery Kingdom both dropped the Six Flags name from their Tricks and Treats logos, just like how Great Adventure dropped the brand name from its Holiday in the Park last year (RIP) and from its Sweet Spot addition this year. Both Six Flags Over Texas and Fiesta Texas kept the brand name on their T&T logos. All four of the new Tricks and Treats logos also use the new style of logo where "Six Flags" and the park name are stacked directly on top of each other and are much closer in size. I'm salty that Kings Island will not be seeing our own version of Wake the Dead this Halloween season. The current setup of the stage in the Kings Island Theater would really just require the removal of the Gazillion Bubble Show decorations and the addition of the TV(s), casket, chairs, and maybe some extra props. The background could stay lowered (Cedar Point works with a smaller stage for the show) and the cast is limited. I think the only reasons KI doesn't have it is because Cedar Point has it (though we both had Country Crossroads this year) and because Kings Island was already supposed to receive three new things for the 2025 Haunt season.

Available advertisement space is what happened. I'd really like to see Phantom Theater return even if it's with the blaster aspect. Any current blasters/targets would probably get replaced with ones more like they did at Carowinds. Looking away from certain posts on social media (even though I trust their opinions and possible knowledge of plans), I could see BBoBH becoming either a different Sally Dark Rides attraction or being turned into an IP-based ride.

Now that I've read everyone's responses, I have to say that I agree with most of the points made. I do think Kings Island could become more of a theme park with thrills as it currently exists, even if its clientele doesn't change. My definition of a thrilling theme park probably does not translate well into my posts: there's a reason why I used to keep my writings short before I joined KIC . I'd really enjoy if the park focused more on the theming of each area and the quality of both attractions and sightlines. Think more of how the park was from 1972-1992 rather than it being a park like Dollywood or Silver Dollar City. I'd love for it to become more like Dollywood in terms of theming and vibes, but I can see how that may be incompatible with the park in some ways. Good, comprehensive theming is what I think would improve Kings Island and elevate it to the next level as a truly regional park. Some theming elements don't require much upkeep from year to year, such as area entrance signs, stationary props, and ride theming. More buildings (facades, even), trees and water would greatly help Rivertown just as a return to the festival atmosphere would make Oktoberfest feel like a real land again. Thanks to everyone for your opinions! Rajun Cajun (in Action Zone) or the SteamWhirler (in the Saltwater Circus plot or along Coney Mall) would be my picks for moving. The odds aren't terribly high IMO, but Carowinds just got their own NebulaZ in Aeronautica Landing so I think KI could handle it.

Maybe we'll get Richard Zimmerman for new Chairman of the Board and someone passionate about the parks like Jeffrey Siebert for CEO (just kidding!). Replacing both of them with an outsider and a former Cedar Fair-er (you choose who gets what) might help the company in the shorter-term a little as well. They'd still have to make some of the same terrible decisions as Zimmerman/Bassoul have, but I think we'd see the smarter choices being made each time. I'm still shocked (IDK why though) that we haven't seen anything in terms of the new websites/mobile apps that were supposed to come out in July. You'd think that would've been hired out to be completed on a schedule. The 2024 Cedar Fair app/map refreshes were done by an external company, and I'm sure the 2025 Great Adventure map was also done by that same company considering the fact that it looks exactly like the Cedar Fair ones. Playing into the "transformative journey of regional amusement/theme park industry" would probably do them some good, but I think we'd have to see them begin to deliver on their promises for the good to actually stay. They should start that journey by finding a new name for the company and by replacing the CEO and Chairman. Having the people who got Cedar Fair/Six Flags into this at the top is probably a smart thing to do for the transition between companies. Keeping them there is probably a bad idea considering they're the top hombres who got their former companies into this mess.

Yuletide Follies would work great in there if they can find a good way to use the set. I'd accept a lot of show ideas in there if they were able to use the set like Tinker's did. The outdoor shows that happen during Winterfest should either be kept smaller (in terms of the number of performers, like the Mistletones and Sounds of the Nativity), or should find a way to provide seating with some more heat lamps around them. A live-band show like Swingin' Into Christmas could also work in the KIT, but they'd need to find a way to fill that stage like they do the stage in the Festhaus.

I sure hope you're right about that! The sooner, the better. As for the topic, I think I'd rather have current Six Flags management based on where we sit now. I'd say it feels more like Kings Island is heading into a period of (still operating) hibernation, compared to the "we don't care" attitude I've heard the 2006 Paramount management had.

This isn't perfect, but here's what @TOPGUN1993's picture looks like compared to the Google Maps view. You can see various existing features like Cafe Kilimanjaro/Chicken Shack, Amazon/Congo Falls, and Timberwolf (one of the more distorted areas of the picture). The brown shapes with black outlines and the heavy red lines are the easiest way to tell what is from their picture. The Bat and its entrance can be seen at the bottom. For any version of an Action Zone retheme I'd love to see a mix of these path layouts. The area needs a pretty comprehensive rethinking IMO, but the bones are there. If you look closely you can see how the pathways could work while keeping Banshee, Chicken Shack, the Invertigo restrooms, and Congo Falls intact. Banshee's entrance and I.D. sign are to the left of the front of the Monorail building in this image. New flat rides could take the place of Xtreme Skyflyer while a new roller coaster could take over the Timberwolf area. I'd also like to see the entire area become a new extension of Oktoberfest. The overall theme would need to be played with a little (Oktoberfest festival mixed with northern/western European folklore) but I think it could work well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm advocating big time for more family attractions as well. I know that receiving a major coaster around every 3 years was an unsustainable model. My gripe is with removing coasters without a planned replacement and the perceived decline in quality of additions over the past few years. The extended amount of time it took for AP and CS to open also did not sit well with me. I'm realizing my final statement didn't read how I thought it did. I feel that Kings Island currently feels like it is either stagnating or declining in overall quality. Whether this is due to the overall size of the passholder base (compared to daily ticket holders), economic woes, the potential for market penetration, or anything else — I am not sure. In an article on themeparksbydon.com Don Helbig commented that additions like RiverRacers were not designed to draw in guests from outside the Cincinnati market (I'm paraphrasing from memory). I will celebrate the day Kings Island is finally focused on being a thrilling theme park that caters to the whole family. If the park were able to pick a lane and commit to it I think I'd be happier. Either stay as an amusement park with some theming as it exists now or return to being a theme park with high thrills. I'd prefer it become a theme park with high thrills. My personal opinion will differ from others and I'm okay with that. I just like to type.

As of August 2025, Six Flags cancelled at least six (6) 2025 seasonal events to "focus on [their respective] core operating season". Parks like California's Great America were originally reported to host zero special events in 2025, however its schedule gained some smaller events near the beginning of the summer season. SCarowinds and Halloween Haunt at Kings Island are both having their 25th anniversary seasons this Fall (having skipped 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). SCarowinds announced and is creating new attractions for this celebration while Kings Island seems to be following the quieter route having only recently released merchandise with a 25th Anniversary line. The former Legacy Cedar Fair Halloween celebrations have seen a flurry of activity and conversation as they will now charge admission to their haunted mazes for the first time — a practice that Legacy Six Flags parks have been operating with for years. Prices start as low as $10, but a vast number of potential guests are outraged by this change due to the quality of these mazes in recent years and the surprise upcharge coming after 2025 and 2026 passes went on sale. It is currently unclear how this will end up shaking out among each event. New experiences are coming to four parks including Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds, Cedar Point, and Kings Island with The Conjuring: Beyond Fear. Expected to be an escape room-style attraction, this experience will take guests into Ed and Lorraine Warren's haunted museum as they attempt to place the haunted Annabelle doll back into her case before it is too late. Kings Island's The Conjuring: Beyond Fear is expected to be located in the former Tomb Raider: The Ride building, while the experience at Carowinds may be located in the Aeronautica Theater. The location of this new experience at Cedar Point may be located in the former Town Hall Museum, while the location at Canada's Wonderland is currently unknown. Notable event cancellations include Tricks and Treats, Fright Fest, and Holiday in the Park / Winterfest celebrations. These cancelled events were to take place at parks big and small. An important change in the event lineup was the cancellation of the final Fright Fest at Six Flags America — which was to be the last event the soon-to-close park would ever host.

The giant Snickers logo is a bit too on the nose for me. What makes it weirder is that I don't think any of the Six Flags Fright Fest merch has the Snickers logo on them, and it is definitely not that large. Talk about being the equivalent of a full-page magazine advertisement. I'm very glad they're at least acknowledging the 25th anniversary though. Maybe we'll see some more stuff during the event, even if it's minimal or just less than how SCarowinds is celebrating their 25th anniversary. This makes me hopeful. It would be really cool if they had a big celebration spot / photo op for it with any of the props and stuff from years past! Are those drink coasters or magnets in the first photo? Maybe I'll head over tomorrow and take a look at them. Also, is this in the KI Trading Company? I'd love to see both the north end of the Emporium and the KI Trading Co. be the two designated Haunt merch stores this year since they also had two last year.

This line feels particularly telling: It seems that instead of either limiting the MVP Sale's duration or withholding its reach to about 2-5 parks instead of all 40+ for the price of one, enough of the higher-ups at Six Flags chose to implement a slightly easier solution that would only yield them immediate monetary gain. Where a stand-alone Cedar Point or Kings Island pass should have a total price of $150-$175 to keep up with each park, it is currently only a little over half of that value for access to all Six Flags parks. A pass that has a theoretical value of $2,160 (an average $50 ticket plus a $30 parking fee, then multiplied by 27 amusement parks) costs as low as $50-ish. With a renewed 2026 Kings Island Gold Pass only costing $99, that is over $2,000 valued product for only 5% the price. While being a great value, it is not at all sustainable in any way. Six Flags can try to help their margins by pricing a 2027 one-park Gold Pass to start at $120 to be closer to its real value, but guests will question the higher price when they feel they are getting much less than they may have in 2026.

The new Six Flags not only needs to reimagine their strategies, they need to complete a comprehensive refresh of what they are as a company and who it is that makes their decisions. I cannot imagine a scenario in which they survive well by continuing to entirely be the "budget amusement park chain". In my opinion there at least needs to be a visual redesign and a renaming of the company along with its assets. They cannot hope to improve their reputation while clinging onto the recognition and images of the Six Flags name that has repeatedly brought negativity and turmoil to that chain over the past 20+ years. Reimagine yourself, rename the company, drop the Six Flags branding from parks like Great Adventure and Magic Mountain, and get rid of those industry professionals that have continually contributed to the doom and destruction of the brand.

I saw someone say that The Gauntlet was planned, but will not make it to the event as a named scare zone. It sounds like it may be a similar situation to last year's un-named scare zone between Jukebox Diner and the Rivertown LaRosa's. "Presented by" will be on each mention of a sponsored attraction at Halloween Haunt at Kings Island (presented by Snickers), since that is how sponsors work. You will definitely see the Skittles, M&Ms, and Snickers logos wherever you see the sign/name of those mazes. I can't guarantee that they will be big and tacky, but they'll be seen well enough. I'm still curious as to why the fences went up around The Crypt's building, unless it is to hide any props being staged outside for The Conjuring: Beyond Fear. I'd love to see how it is being set up and whether it will be more of a maze or an escape room-type layout. The interactive maze concept would be cool, but the escape room would probably allow for multiple rooms to be constructed. Maybe the queue line will also be decorated to somewhat resemble the Warren's haunted museum or maybe it will look the exact same.

I would much rather see the scare actors and fog machines restricted to the back areas of the park than have Haunt neutered entirely just to better cater to families. That being said, that method works a lot better at Cedar Point because of the park's layout with only two real entrances to their dedicated Haunt zone. My idea for a revitalized Halloween Haunt had this same idea with International Street, part of Planet Snoopy, Action Zone, and Oktoberfest being the tamer zones while Adventure Port, Coney Mall, Rivertown, and Area 72 were the real scare zones where all of the mazes were. It may be a good idea to redirect some of the roamers into the mazes, but removing the fog and catering more to families means no more shows like Dead Awakening or Hot Blooded. Once you make the event any more family-friendly you lose the ability to make it scary again without a lot of work. There are a good number of people who buy their passes just for Halloween Haunt, so any families that come in for a neutered Haunt event may just replace the guests who like the event as it has been — meaning little-to-no bumps in attendance. I'm very passionate about this subject and I hope Halloween Haunt becomes more adult-oriented than it has been in recent years.

For the life of me I've never been able to figure out what a Mod Shop is supposed to have sold and am too stubborn to Google it.

It would be really cool if the Roller Coaster Museum were able to take Invertigo in its entirety and reassemble it on-site as a big standout exhibit. They wouldn't need to have it operable, but the coaster is small enough and [the boomerang model is] common enough that this would be one of the easiest projects to fully relocate. I hope it gets back up and running at Kings Island though. If Invertigo gets taken out and the land is set to sit vacant for a while, I'd like to see Kings Island install a new semi-temporary picnic area over there like the Shady Maple Picnic Grove that existed in that location.

I haven't renewed yet but one of my regular park group members did and was able to use their Prestige Pass, dining plan, and drink plan at Kings Island, Kings Dominion, and Dorney Park. We did not try to get food from a Six Flags park. The stipulation may only work for new passholders as the systems continue to merge. If only Six Flags could under promise and overdeliver on everything else they're trying to do. I think at this point a lot of the formerly-promised 2026 attractions have either been delayed or cancelled entirely.
