  1. Actually this is the way the world works, Cedar Fair applied for similar incentives as they did for Carowinds. The Kings Dominion incentives were rejected so Cedar Fair turned their attention to Carowinds, I firmly believe the Cedar Fair is making low investments to KD as a direct result. This results in low growth of attendance and more importantly the surrounding area doesn't get the increase in tax revenue that they would get if Cedar Fair were investing large amounts of money. I also believe that KD's budget for operations was cut last year resulting in Hurler closing, the real question is will the budget be increased enough for Hurler to open next year. Furthermore, Kings Dominion likely trolled their fans to get attention. They got hopes up and likely made some money from enthusiasts visiting expecting to see Hurler return either by a GCI redo or RMC overhaul. They didn't hype their Annoucement as much as Carowinds did the new County Fair.
  2. About time, I guess Cedar Fair finally decided they got their money's worth out of it. Hate to be mean but maybe the Big Dipper will finally get to RIP.
  3. The Gate Entusiasts sure are having a great day. I never even knew there was such a thing until recently. This industry has something for everyone! Lol. I agree on tthe power of perspective. But in this instance I am not convinced it is possible to duplicate that photoshopped image without manipulation. I could be wrong but I don't think the track will look that big, but maybe that is my old eyes fooling me. I tell you what, next summer while we are there celebrating the new CPS if you can duplicate that image I will buy you a couple of drinks at the new swim up bar.I absolutely love the original Carowinds maingate, and I hate the new one. The Waterpark gate has more character. The maingate to me says "Welcome to the County Fair" if that, my County Fairground has more character. I am a architecture lover but cheap Art Deco is blah to me.
  4. I want this job, fill up the Super Soaker and empty it.
  5. Worlds of Fun is also getting a new front gate.
  6. Annoucement is tomorrow at 11AM in Festhaus per KI's Facebook.
  7. Hmm, a rough spot you say.... Maybe the park found a reason for the rough spot and the marker is related to repairing or redoing the spot.
  8. What is NASCAR style fencing for on the handrail Racer?
  9. Ki might want to have someone talk to the truck drivers, remember the heavier the train is the longer distance the train will take to stop. As a brakeman for a tourist railroad I have had many terrifying moments of people walking or driving in front of my train. That said if you hear two longs, a short followed by another long then that is just the standard crossing whistle. Also signs marked "W" are where the whistle is to be sounded.
  10. Rolo coaster doesn't have buzz bars, it has a stationary bar that riders are supposed to hold on to. Kennywood has a far bigger coaster that only has leather straps and a stationary bar.
  11. Wow, they are highballing along!
  12. https://instagram.com/p/BI-38GyAz6Z/ Snoopy is snooping around Hurler and KD uses the #2017.
  13. I have been by sources that the Rolo Coaster has reopened but they are family, they both say the news reported it but I can't find no articles saying it. Anyone know?
  14. I believe this is one of a couple old wooden coasters that doesn't have lapbars, just the stationary bar. Jackrabbit at Kennywood also comes to mind but I believe it has seatbelts.
  15. I wonder if they will start here with vertical construction too?
  16. Very Disheartening, my wife and I both were thinking that Velcro isn't strong enough to actually hold the riders in. "Jon Rust, a professor of textile engineering at North Carolina State University, said the material used on the straps, commonly called hook and loop, isn't designed to keep a person in the seat. It also can get old and degrade with use." Couldn't the park or supplier of the straps be held liable for using materials that aren't designed for the purpose they are being used for?
  17. Their Giant Enterprise is still operating was it relocated in the park?
  18. Only news because the media is trying to get a story, easy clickbait headline to get the media clicks.
  19. Ugh, I won't say it isn't possible but I will say that a ghost that worked KK would know more than the innaccuate information.
  20. PvZ 3Z Arena is an awesome attraction, my family loves the ride and it is very reridable.
  21. I am wondering if maybe the child panicked, either because the Velcro strap came loose or took it off. Resulting in either the child falling from the raft or in a panic standing up. The blood before the crest of the second hill is interesting, I thought is either way, his head caught the netting, breaking his neck and resulting in the two ladies getting injuried by the boy's body and/or the raft flipping over. I think I have been watching too many NatGeo disaster shows, maybe it goes back to me wanting to design coasters. In theory, wouldn't the combined weight of the raft and two other riders cause the raft to slide at a faster rate than a rider not secured to the raft?
  22. Get your own, let us keep our's; don't steal it like we did the Flyers. Just messing, it is my favorite flat ride in the park.
  23. A neck injury.... In the pool at the end..... Blood on the slide.... Maybe he fell out of the raft and knocked himself on the end of slide? Wouldn't It be a real hard blow to break a neck to the point of causing an open wound?
