  1. You may not fit on Diamondback, I am 5'-10" and 275. I barely fit on B&M hyper coasters. You can try the test but they aren't always 100% correct.
  2. I am going to guess the Red Car Trolley will either go away completely or be shortened in the future. Doesn't look like there is much room behind the tower for another land, could A Bug's Life kiddy area get the boot?
  3. Well the layout is not in detail, only the "area of work". I do not see why there cannot be revisions of the original plans submitted for approval. Yeah, I guess they could make changes but then Ki would need to take those to the city again?Side note.....way off topic and I am sorry but I am reading the Carowinds forums. They are all thinking Vortex will go floorless and also getting 5 classic flat rides. I called a number today that Carowinds posted that is supposed to give hints and something that is dealing with a mayor. No idea. Sounded lame. I can't see them getting anything major after Fury. They had a big argument over the cost to repave their parking lot haha just FYI no need for discussion unless you want to reply lol I don't wanna make anyone mad that I went off topic but thought it was funny. This site is far better, less trolls and less stressful arguments.
  4. Not yet but if they say the trains can go it then it may happen someday.
  5. Now that it has went public, maybe if there is enough negative comments Disney will wake up and cancel it. Doubtful but we can hope. With Star Wars Land, keeping Star Tours in Tomorrowland will make less sense. Disney could either gut Star Tours and do a new ride completely or retheme Star Tours to a Marvel film, likely the latter will be much cheaper than the former and cheaper than retheming ToT.
  6. I get that Disney Parks needs to stay current and the concept of putting in their favorite movies but Tower Of Terror is one of the iconic Disney rides, I think it would have been better not to change ToT. Again I really think Disney is missing a chance to fix the Tomorrowland problem, Tomorrowland gets updated with more futurisic things then falls behind. Not to mention the empty Peoplemover track, Astrojets platform and other attractions rotting away. To me Marvel gives them access to futurisic world that they could overlay into the current Tomorrowland, as shown Tomorrowland has SBNO attractions that are taking up space and adding zero to the capacity of the park.
  7. Could it be that once the wood aged that the wood formed tiny dips between the dips resulting in a rougher ride and also slowing the trains?I ain't coaster engineer but I do know that Hurler didn't have the trim brake added until after 2006. I worked the Carowinds Hurler in 2006, turn three(first banked turn) was retracked twice that year, once before the season started and once during the summer. It made the ride no better, when GCI came in and rebuilt the entire turn the structure and made some changes it really improved the ride. I would love to see GCI do the rest of the coaster but it hasn't happened since 2013 or 2014. Maybe Carowinds have up on Thunder Road and Hurler?
  8. And that is what is lurking in the woods.....Hey that might make an interesting entrance at the Annoucement. Someone from PR coming out of the woods and saying "Sorry it ain't Bigfoot just an intern pecking around for clues."
  9. It's not railroad ties. Railroad ties are soaked in creosote or something similar and look black. Those appear to be standard treated lumber.I present a contrary ad. http://m.lowes.com/pd/Pressure-Treated-Railroad-Tie-Actual-5-5-in-x-5-5-in-x-6-ft/50449508 Surface treated for cosmetic purposes; for decorative use only They call it a "Railroad Tie" but it is not. Railroad Ties are larger, I suspect that they are smaller pieces from the same tree. Also they sell them at my Lowes, they are landscape grade. However for miniature railroads, it may pass for a tie depending on the size. My miniature railroad(1/8 scale, 7.5" gauge) uses Pressure Treated 2x4 ripped in half and cut to 13.5" long. Studies have proven in my size that additional chemicals do not lengthen lifespan with a properly drained roadbed.Edit: Ya'll have 3' narrow gauge, not 2'.... 3' NG uses the same ties as standard gauge but the ties are cut shorter..
  10. I pray to Skytower.....replace Carolina Cyclone with a GCI Woodie other their more to the story can't be any better than a Wave Swinger and Musik Express!
  11. Funny thought: 10PM, axes, creepy old truck; new maze! Nah, just yanking your chain lift.
  12. Not use Tapatalk..... Sorry I don't use it, last thing I looked someone was charging for it.
  13. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/GqAocnfzq0E/maxresdefault.jpg I will note that this appears to just be sitting on the concrete footings, not attached.
  14. I have kindergarten children that know their parents put their presents under the Christmas tree but also have the few fifth graders that still believe in Santa. Source: I drive a school bus for an elementary school.
  15. Disney World is just an amusement park with a movie studio budget, the majority of the children know it isn't real. Most children realize they favorite character isn't real by school age. We all know that Halloween Haunt isn't real, that the monsters aren't supposed to touch us however the point of walking through the mazes is to see if they can scare us.
  16. Oops, I always get those two confused.
  17. 2-8-2 Mountain, one of the strongest steam locos ever designed. However I will note that sometimes the crews can't make the hill, back down and try again. I seen Cinderella run into some light wheel slip going over Thunderhead Gap, I love the sound but too much wheelslip can damage the rail and the wheels. I know one of KI's engines is a 4-4-0 American, I think....Edit: Both KI engines are 4-4-0s. A lot smaller than the 2-8-2 and a lot lighter. Generally the more weigh on the driving wheels the more power a loco has.
  18. Does he work for Cedar Fair or just guessing?
  19. Maybe the railroad bridge is coming down for replacement? Is it steel or wood? Original to the park? Maybe the train will be rerouted to a more peaceful wooded area?
  20. GCI says Thunderhead can't operate below 42 degrees per Dollywood years ago.... If moisture gets in wood and freezes it can damage the structure per Carowinds during Winterfest 2005. Woodstock Express was kept ready for operation (for the first half)in case Winterfest needed extra capacity.
  21. I disagree, I think she exposed Disney telling employee to mislead customers, Disney did the wrong thing by firing her when if they didn't listen to her to begin with. Given the recent death, Disney should not be telling their employees to tell the visitors such lies about gators. I further believe that offering her job back was the right to do, she stood for her morals and the safety of others. More details here: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/tourism/os-disney-gator-employee-twitter-fired-20160715-story.html
  22. I can't tell but it looks like the railroad tracks run under the station however I think you nailed it, the bolder structures line up with the lake.
  23. Extremely unlikely but I wonder if a company like Apex, Fun Spot America, Palace Enterainment could turn this place around. Of course, I would be shocked if anyone else would even have interested in saving this park. I personally think CLP appears to have a bad location, no interstate exit if one is even nearby plus I had to look for the lake. Cross-threading here but I wonder if Camden Park would benfit from a closer interstate exit?
  24. It's not a tunnel. The plans refer to the North Abutment. An abutment is the end of a bridge. An engineer wouldn't mistake that term for anything else. Also, if it was a tunnel, it would all be one structure. One big concrete tube. There wouldn't be partial plans of footers. Not completely true, most railroad tunnels are not lined with concrete. They are normally just dug(loose term) out. Furthermore, a solid long concrete tube would be expensive and like precast we in sections. This structure looks most like a retaining wall nothing more but maybe less. It could be tunnel but I don't think so, however the railroad tracks wouldn't be moved until after the tunnel is done. Yeah, but those are usually through mountains and are solid rock. Since the odds of this thing going down in the ground deep enough to go through bedrock is somewhere around zero, that means it has to go through dirt. And since this is a wet area, it means a concrete tube. It would almost certainly be poured on site like a basement, the roof poured, then buried. That would be easier and cheaper than pre-cast. Either way, neither the coster, nor the train, are going to go through an underground tunnel. Should have said that I wasn't refering to full size railroads. Miniature railroads, I know quite afew people that own, build or maintain them.
