^I agree, I'm not sold on the color choice made for Nick-O-Round or Lazytown Sporticopters, but you've got to admit, theme aside, that Backyardigans Swing-Along looks 100x better than it ever was as Pixie & Dixie's Swing Set Hopefully the kids will know what a Backyardigan is!

***Update*** New photos are up on Paramount's Kings Island's official site: Click here for photo update. Now I don't know how long these have been up, as Maureen hid them in February's update, but they definitely show off the vibrant color that will be abundant in Nickelodoen Universe The photo update includes Jimmy Neutron's Atom Smasher, Nick-O-Round, Lazytown Sporticopters, and Backyardigans Swing-Along. This photo update has restored my faith in PKI The bright coloring on everything (yes, even colorful pathways) seems much more inviting and is sure to go well with the GP. It pains me to say this, but it's looking like next year Nickelodoen Universe will be much more alive then Hanna-Barbera Land ever was during it's Paramount years. Thanks for taking the time to give us this update Maureen!

Mission Impossible Stunt Spectacular
Skippy replied to Skippy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^I think your right, especially if what Screamscape is saying is true At first I thought it was another rights issue, like what happened to Stealth, but I think in this case their doing what's best for the show (or atleast we all hope so). One thing I don't understand though is what about the roles people auditioned for on Utopia's website They had characters and a story pretty much worked out. Are they going to just rename everying/one and keep the same story so that it's just another generic stunt show (i.e. Real Hollywood Stunt Show at WarnerBros. MovieWorld Germany)? Anyways, this is just another name change from Paramount Parks Who knows, maybe we won't be getting a Nickelodeon Universe next year, but instead a Paramount's Hollywood Kids Area featuring Nickelodeon characters. -
***UPDATE*** OK, now I present the final piece of the puzzle...A PRESS RELEASE Also, judging by the poster presented with the press release, I'd venture to say Universal Studios sold the rights to distribute The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera to SimEx!Iwerks. If this is the case, then we may see it start poping up all over the place in the near future. New Hanna Barbera Attraction Debuts at Paramount's Kings Dominion Theme park adventure rockets guests through The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera. DOSWELL, Va.â€â€Classic animated characters from cartoons such as The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Scooby-Doo take a starring role in The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, the new Hollywood attraction at Paramount’s Kings Dominion that takes guests on an unforgettably fun family adventure in the Paramount Action FX Theatre. When villainous Dick Dastardly and his sidekick dog Muttley kidnap Elroy Jetson, park guests are in for a wild ride. Attraction-goers help Yogi Bear rescue Elroy as he dashes through Bedrock, Jetson City and Scooby-Doo’s Haunted Castle. Guests will fly, drive, and dive with Yogi Bear while sitting in seats that are synchronized to move with the action on the screen. The adventure takes place in Kings Dominion’s Action FX Theatre. The Action FX Theatre is a 13,000 square-foot building holding two, four level terrace theatres. The unique two-person seats are set on motion bases that allow for a wide range of movement that is fully in sync with the action coming from the 26 feet by 59 feet screen. In addition, the theatre’s digital-based six channel audio system provides high quality surround sound to fully immerse guests in the story. The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera will debut at all five Paramount theme parks this summer. For fans that prefer to watch the show without the motion, stationary seats are available in the theatre. Guests must be 44 inches tall to experience the motion seats. There is no minimum height requirement for the stationary seats. Locally, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera will be ready to entertain guests when Paramount's Kings Dominion opens for the season on Saturday, April 1. Paramount’s Kings Dominion is a 400-acre theme park that’s home to more than 200 rides, shows and attractions. The park brings the best of Hollywood entertainment to the Mid-Atlantic with one of the largest coaster collections on the East Coast; two children’s areasâ€â€Nickelodeon Central and Kidzville; and WaterWorks, a 19-acre water park playground that’s included with admission. Paramount’s Kings Dominion is located 20 miles north of Richmond, Va. and 75 miles south of Washington, D.C. off Interstate 95 at Exit 98. Paramount’s Kings Dominion is owned and operated by Paramount Parks. Paramount Parks (a unit of CBS Corporation) is a leading developer and operator of world-class theme parks and location-based attractions, entertaining more than 13 million guests annually. The company currently owns and operates five of the most popular theme parks in North America including: Paramount Canada’s Wonderland (Toronto, Ontario, Canada); Paramount’s Carowinds (Charlotte, N.C.); Paramount’s Great America (Santa Clara, Calif.); Paramount’s Kings Dominion (Richmond, Va.); and Paramount’s Kings Island (Cincinnati, Ohio). The company also developed and manages the award-winning STAR TREK: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton (Las Vegas, Nev.) and manages Bonfante Gardens horticultural theme park (Gilroy, Calif.) and CBS Television City at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino (Las Vegas, Nev.). Entech Creative Industries only themed the "Helecopter Encounter" show scene on The Italian Job Stunt Track and I think they did one hell of a job Too bad that's the only scene they themed, hence the only good theming on the attraction, because if they would've themed the whole darn thing; we could've acutally ended up with a great attraction Technifx did an amazing job on Tomb Raider The Ride but Entech Creative Industries probably could've also done so with the proper budget. It's not the companies that separated the quality in attraction but the budget that Paramount Parks gave them... ...in which Tomb Raider received a standard Universal-sized budget

^Me too They deserve it! Now I'm just going by the park map, we all know how inaccurate they can be, but Avatar: The Last Airbender can't be too small if were going to be able to walk under the hump On PKI's Park Map, that's the only way to get back to Dora's neighborhood, so it's going to need be large enough to accommodate a high traffic flow of guests. I don't think ours will be too much smaller, if at all, than PGA's in overall size. I'm not really into group interactivity but PGA's Survivor: The Ride intrigues me I think PGA is the only place that can pull off that type of tropical themeing, maybe Carowinds, so I find this attraction fitting. The concept art makes the attraction area look quite neat, about the same quality themeing as TR:FF, and it will probably give spectators something to watch too. In the end, it looks cool and will probably payoff for CBS

Thanks As a collector of PKI concept art, I see this find as a real treat!

Mission Impossible Stunt Spectacular

***UPDATE*** I've got two new things to discuss today One being another infomation update and the other being a construction update! First up, Utopia Entertainment's official website has released a list of all the cast and character positions that will need to be filled for this show. It includes all the requirments for each position, including the technicians. Among the cast listed are Ethan Hunt, Luther, Ling Tao, Marcel, Lars Kruger, and some Biker Henchmen. For more in-depth information and the characters with requirments, click here. Now onto the construction update, which can be accessed by clicking the image below: Construction really seems to be moving along If you look at the pictures and the model, you can plainly see what they meant by the action will "surround" you, even under you! I personally can't wait to get this over here at PKI but am still bummed by the fact that this will be a traveling show It just doesn't make sense that they would spend all this time and money into something that's only going to stay one year. I'll try to keep everyone up to date... -
Mission Impossible Stunt Spectacular

This doesn't really pertain to Mission Impossible Stunt Spectacular but I really didn't want to start a new topic for construction taking place at the same park! PCW has just recently released concept art and construction photos for their new indoor-air-conditioned restaurant, "Back Lot Cafe." Click on the image below to see construction photos: Many may recognize this from the PCW's Park Map & Guide, that they put up a little while ago, which also confirmed The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera for next year It looks awsome and resembles the ABC Commissary at Disney-MGM Studios. I really hope PKI get's either this or a CBS Cafe soon, maybe replacing the bland Paramount Action Zone restaurants, with some that will really make you feel like your on a Hollywood Back Lot! Like I said before, I'll try to keep you updated with all the PCW goodness -
*UPDATE* New photos from today (2/9/06) are up... Click here for pictures.

^I don't know what they cost but your probably right They defiantly look expensive but wouldn't having all those effects together technically make it a 5-D attraction? Either way, it would be an experience that you can't even find at Universal or Disney! "We partnered with the designers of the 'Back to the Future' and 'The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man' motion platforms to develop the industry's first 8-seat electric base."-turboride.com To me this version sounds amazing It could probably put some life back into SpongeBob SquarePants 3-D, and even create a better ride experience for The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, surpassing what it ever was at Universal Studios Florida. BTW, if you visit the link I left above (click image), then you can see all the specification for this I don't know how big the Action FX Theater is, but if someone does, then you could probably figure out how much PKI could fit in there. I don't think it would hurt capacity that badly but it would defiantly up the overall ride experience. Too bad the preshow and postshow areas take away from the overall experience with there complete lack of theming. None the less, I can't wait to experience The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barera attraction again!
-
^I've mentioned this before but PKI could always upgrade their Action FX Theater to use 8-seat electic base, as opposed to 2-seat, which comes with the ability to use 4D effects. Click on image below for more information: Not only does this baby look slick but it also replaces the seatbelts with lapbars; decreasing load time and making it more accessable for larger guests What would really seal the deal is if these were quieter then the EXTREMELY noisy ones PKI currently uses. What does everyone else think?
-
This is the best news PKI has ever given out!!! They will finally be getting an attraction of Universal caliber j/k This will get me through the whole off season and then some. Thank you Paramount Parks, I knew after 42 unanswered emails, that you finally realized just what a great idea I was suggesting! You could've just announced this and saved Nick Universe as an added bonus!!! Yeah, it was very creative and it would give us a chance to see William Hanna and Joseph Barbera again! Not to mention the story would fall apart if they didn't play it Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the preshow use two medium sized TV's and the one large one I don't see how PKI is gonna pull this off without some modifications to the preshow area. To bad they aren't going to get rid of the crappy arcade for the old Hanna-Barbera post show area and a small gift shop. Well I'm a little sick of SpongeBob 3D but does that really matter...when the kids love it I think this would give the best varitety offered at any theme park EVER!!! Cartoons for both generations. BTW, one side of the Action FX Theater is 3D (SpongeBob) and the other is 2D (Hanna-Barbera), it works out And it gives us one of the best 2D movies in years, possibly EVER!!! I think we'll finally see an even amount of people on both sides of the Theater and LOTS of happy faces, but then again, SpongeBob's not even on the park map so lets not get ahead of ourselves. Now if only they would add some theming or landscaping back there in the Action FX queue. It could also use some new paint Everything looks like it's dying and falling apart, it's depressing.

Mission Impossible Stunt Spectacular

***UPDATE*** No, it's not the photo update that Paramount's Canada's Wonderland's official website has been promising for months I'll do you one better...some new info and images of a scale model of the stadium that MI:SS will be held in! First we'll start with the new info. A casting press release on Utopia Entertainment's website confirms that MI:SS will heavily use SuperMoto stunts. "Preliminary casting has already begun and will include Hollywood Talent Agents and Stunt Directors leading the search and decision process for over 50 performer and technical positions. The production requires motorcycle riders with the following background and/or skill set: motor cross, super cross, and /or SuperMoto. In addition to the biking roles, there are also positions available for stunt performers to play non-biking characters. Utopia is also searching for crew members to fill the roles of stage technicians, technical directors and motorcycle mechanics."-utopiaworldwide.com This explains why the attraction logo and website both have a motorcycle rider on them The most disappointing information comes with the confirmation that the show will indeed be traveling after a year (and here I thought we finally got our very own, permanent, Indiana Jones style stunt show). Now onto the pictures, or 3D "Story Boards," which can be found by clicking the image below: Judging from the magnitude of this show I'd have to say it'll be very expensive to move. I don't know how large of an update this constitutes as but hopfully it can hold us over until we get some construction photos (or some concept for our very own Nick Universe)! I'll try to keep everyone updated with the latest, because I know there is some people as excited about this show as me on these boards. EDIT: Construction photos now up! -
New Nick Universe Info Released!
Skippy replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
PKI should have Jimmy Neutron's Atom Smashers glow-in-the-dark and have a crap load of neat special lighting effects for when it gets dark out There's alot PKI can do with Jimmy and his SciFi theming... ...but then again, maybe they shouldn't do that because I'd be tempted to hop in Glow-in-the-dark bumper cars would be just too good to pass up! Still, I'll miss Boulder Bumpers with it's cool rock theming and mini Flintstone cars Now the only thing that PKI could do that would really **** me off is if they give it a cheapass generic retheme like PCW did to their Boulder Bumpers when converting them into Rugrat's Toonpike. -
I never got to see any of those shows The only show I ever saw in the Enchanted Theater was the Jetson's one back in '98. BTW, I was wondering if PKI ever had any outdoor Fintstone or Jetson shows like these one's that were at Paramount's Canada's Wonderland: Click here to see pictures. I only ask because they looked neat (even without an elaborate set) I'm gonna miss these guys!

This is ridiculous How can people still be complaining over something as trivial as this; a renaming of an attraction? The attraction will still be just as fun as always next year only with a fresh coast of paint and a couple of added theming elements I don't see how this hurts the attraction! Your making WAY too big a deal out of this. You must ask yourselves: Is the current theme really so special that it's worth complaining about, or was it just a cheapass retheme of the Scooby-Doo Coaster? The only thing changed on the attraction was new signs and the added tunnel, that's it They even left the photo booth as the Mystery Machine. So IMO, the attraction was always Scooby-Doo, never The Beastie! The only loss here is The Beast trilogy will be no more, oh well... GET OVER IT!!!

The Italian Job Turbo Coaster
Skippy replied to Skippy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
LMFAO, I love your site's home page It's just too funny!!! I think PKD should use that as the new ride name Great job! Amazing! -
Yes, you read right! Paramount's Kings Dominion has made yet another name change for their Italian Job Stunt Track clone (PKI, PCW), now dubbed The Italian Job Turbo Coaster New Official Logo below: 4th times a charm? Originally The Italian Job Stunt Track, then The Italian Job Street Chase (unofficially), and what many hoped was the final name, The Italian Job Stunt Coaster has now made the most drastic change as The Italian Job Turbo Coaster I guess in a push to show individuality (even though it's a clone) they redesigned the logo using old art and renamed it. I think it looks pretty good but the name is more cheezy then the original and it puts less emphasis on the movie which it is based What does eveyone else think about this?

?Great America 2006?
Skippy replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Here's some bad things about us receiving Crash Course Boating School as a Scooby replacement: 1) Our darkride count won't get any higher 2) The building housing Scooby isn't really coaster compatible (unless launch)! 3) This will eliminate the only interactive ride in PKI (although it only works half the time) 4) It wouldn't be included as part of the "highly themed "SpongeBob neighborhood! 5) This would eliminate PKI's only haunted house attraction outside of Fearfest... *Keep in mind 5 wouldn't apply if PKI were to get the Addams Family Reunion Coaster* I like Scooby, I find it quite enjoyable when it's working properly From what I hear though, we have the worst of them all because of the ride vehicles, which really is disappointing because they look and run bad when compared to the others as PKI's ominimovers were originally built for a scenic darkride (not a fast paced game). Our Scooby needs not replaced but really only an upgrade and more animatronics instead of wooden cutouts If PKI keeps up tradition, then we should see a replacement (unfortunatly) in the not so distant future, ending Scooby's stay at PKI forever! -

I think your right Too bad for PKI though! -
I agree, but I don't think for a minute it'll be the Disk'O that everyone thinks it'll be Have you even seen the MI stunt show? Oooooh - BURN!!!!!!! I would rather see the MI Stunt Show than ride the Italian Jaerb. I agree, the Italian Job was a huge let down but this Mission: Impossible Stunt Show looks very promising
