As for your question about the ride running 'without track in the station'....What you are looking at is actually the transfer track. The transfer track is simply a section of track, separate from the actual course of the ride, where trains that aren't currently being used are placed. There is an area, or block, just before the unload station, that is able to be moved from the ride course over to the transfer track to be stored.

They couldn't find the jackets....You can't find the vouchers. Sounds like everyone is even.
-
Originally, the plan was to have Haunt as an up-charge event. But, alas, the park changed its mind (insert shocked look here) and has decided to keep the event included in your park admission.
-
Kinda what I was thinking. The longer walk shouldn't be a surprise.
-
Oh yeah....nostalgia, I forgot. Honestly, though, if this major 'attraction' is for 2009, then I'm starting to wonder if they're just waiting to redesign the map when they have that 'something major' to incorporate. 2 birds with 1 stone kinda thing. KD and Wonderland both got major new rides this year, and they got new maps. KI, GA, and Carowinds didn't get anything 'major', so they didn't see a redesign. Just my theory now that I've thought about it a bit.
-
Why, oh why couldn't we have gotten the new design Wonderland and KD got?
-
Sometimes, yes. Look at Carowinds. They've been almost almost a month and still don't have their map online...But Canada's Wonderland has their new map up, and they don't even open til May.

We actually saw the demise of Nick Central with the end of the 2005 season.

They don't list the company holding the event because it is a just that, a private event. A company paid to rent out the park for its employees that day. That company and its employees know about the event, and there is no reason for them to post on the Kings Island site who rented the park. It doesn't matter if you're an ACE member or not.

2008 Season Tidbits from Under the Black Hat
Reclaimer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Well, Paramount happened. And then Cedar Fair. -
Well it seems that the owner of the site did do something very wrong. And the park made the correct decision to have the site taken down. I'm just surprised that a park employee would do something without permission that they know is wrong. He would be lucky to keep his job after pulling a stunt like that. In the case of posting illegal POVs, yes I agree. But I highly doubt that is the reason of the site being taken offline. Cedar Fair is going after any sites owned/operated by anyone with employee ties it seems. Now, if it was simply taken offline due to the POVs, I can agree with that decision. But as I've said in previous posts, and others as well, there are other sites being taken down by the company that have done nothing wrong.
-
Oh, I know. 'Twas merely a joke.
-
Tell that to Mr. Brady
-
Yes. I noticed some members posted some POV shots in their forums. Was actually wondering when and if those would be removed, and apparently the whole site has. Honestly...What do you expect to happen when you post something blatantly illegal like that? Is it so hard to respect park rules?

KDConnection forum member kDfrEaK804 posted some pics from opening day today. A couple items of note were a new sign inside the main entrance: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj184/s...eningday344.jpg ...and the much-anticipated new billboard for Backlot Stunt Coaster made its debut today: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj184/s...eningday406.jpg More photos here: http://www.kdconnection.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=227

The text was perfect. Concise, but enough info to get me to come here and check out the full story. I look forward to seeing this service develop.
-
Not many people seemed to notice a smal detail missing from all of Cedar Point's height guides at all the entrances last year... Can you spot the error...?

If you've got Leopard, you could just make a webclip of the main page's recent topics list. It's handy.

Will Bubba Gump's Name Change? Now Confirmed
Reclaimer replied to coaster_junky's topic in Kings Island
While it isn't confirmed for Kings Island, Kings Dominion has renamed their Bubba Gump's to Outer Hanks. http://www.kingsdominion.com/attractions/c...ry.cfm?ac_id=34 More confirmation over at bgescape: http://www.bgescape.com/forum/index.php?sh...766&st=540# (emphasis mine) -
KD has posted their 2008 map, and it has undergone a complete overhaul. The map now features a design very similar to Cedar Point's. All rides, buildings, etc. have been redrawn to the 'Cedar Fair style' http://www.kingsdominion.com/DOCs/08KD_Park_Map.pdf

The employee housing at Cedar Point is, well, awful. They really do need to step it up sometime soon. That said, the Commons dorms (the off-Point dorms) are probably the best place to stay. And that's saying something, considering 4 people are in a room smaller than your average college dorm room. As for an "employee bar"...That isn't completely true. I'm assuming you are talking about Louie's. While it is a bar, and is frequented by Cedar Point employees, it is open to anybody else as well and is not, in any way, affiliated with Cedar Point or Cedar Fair. Anyways, relating this all back to Kings Island...If the park were to begin offering employee housing at some point in the future, I pray that it will be better than Cedar Point's housing. (And hopefully CP will update their housing options soon...But that's just wishful thinking)

Why, yes. I do work in the map making business. I work at a company called Citigraph. Well, I did until a couple hours ago. I just got fired.
-
Considering the park opens in a week and a half, I'd bet they were already printed. But I highly doubt it's something that's going to get someone fired.

CGA has posted the 2008 map on its website. Something interesting I noticed is that, even though their Thrill Ride section of the site lists its Drop Tower as "Drop Tower", the park map lists the ride as Drop Zone still....Yet Top Gun was indeed changed to Flight Deck on the map. Simple oversight? Or change of mind? http://www.cagreatamerica.com/visit/visit_park_map.cfm edit: Added link to map
