I don't know what version of IPB the guys were running, but they more than likely just upgraded or did something that requires reinstalling or redoing the skin. I did notice the whole site was down for a bit earlier, so that may have something to do with it...or may not..

So don't be surprised if a certain Top Spin is known next year as The Ride.
-
Possibly sooner than that, depending on when they start hiring seasonals again. CP always starts the hiring process late-December into January, so they kinda have to know when they open in order to schedule peoples' process-in dates. KI will likely be finalizing things over the next week or two I would assume, as I'm sure they'll at least start the hiring process this month or next.

So, I was randomly on CGA's site (new domain, as well, I might at: cagreatamerica.com) and was browsing their jobs pages. I had to laugh when I saw, on every job listing, two little icons with a person's face and a quote. It reminded me of Sim City. If anyone has ever played the game before, take a look and you'll see what I mean: http://www1.cedarfair.com/GreatAmerica/job...n.cfm?emp_id=56

SFKK Ride Victim Gets Prosthetic Leg
Reclaimer replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Really? We're still going on about that? -
You can even get in line at 10:07 and be okay! Most major rides at CP keep their lines open 8 minutes after the park's scheduled closing time as a courtesy. (When you're the employee working entrance, though, those 8 minutes realllllly crawl by)

When did you leave that position?

So, Ryan, is there already a new site design ready to go up or are they just going live with the new domain tonight?
-
Honestly, we probably will be seeing a redesign this off-season. There is a Facebook group called "Making Cedar Fair's Websites Just a Bit Better" at http://bsu.facebook.com/group.php?gid=14514930513 Basically, the web designer, Jeff, is looking for input on what people want to see on Cedar Fair's sites.

Wow! Great find! (I also used this opportunity to hear Jeff Siebert's voice, and his spiel for the 2005 season at "Paramount's Kings Island, Where the best of Hollywood entertainment is now playing!" Oh boy! 2005 sounds like a blast! ) edit: It's probably been like this for awhile, but I've never clicked the link as I've never been interested in anything Group Sales, but I just accidentally clicked the Group Sales link on the main page and was surprised to see a completely different looking site. Check it out http://www2.cedarfair.com/kingsisland/grou...es/default.html )

I'm just going to add onto this a bit. I worked at Cedar Point this summer (and loved it-and got the same benefits everyone here is complaining about. Though, we could drink water wherever. I find the water thing at KI hard to believe), and I plan on returning next summer. Anywho...Just that single season of Cedar Point on my job applications has helped me tremendously. When I came back to school this fall, I needed a job. Every single place I had an interview, the conversation immediately went to CP as soon as they saw it on my application. It's a great conversation-starter, it's interesting to talk about, and it makes you more comfortable and 'yourself' in your interview since you're talking about something you enjoy. That job at CP being on my application is one of the reasons I was hired at my current job...A Steak n Shake of all places. (No, not the most 'glorious' job, but it's a job. And the point is, it's completely unrelated to CP, yet that's basically all my interview revolved around). So, in reality, an amusement park job is going to help you in some way in almost any job you apply for.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I know it's just for Carowinds...but at the same time, here we have Carowinds whose Haunt has always been an upcharge, suddenly becoming free...with KI's supposedly becoming an upcharge. And with CF's history of being pretty wishy-washy on things, especially with regards to season passes, it simply worries me.

eBay FTW!

Or lack thereof

I love when people complain about free things.

Ryan...did you guys raid the bulk candy again this year?

WWK Prices And Opening Day Announced
Reclaimer replied to ClevelandRocks10's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It might initially have some problems, or it might not. But give it a chance. And while you may or may not think the price tag is hefty, they need to bring in money somehow if they plan on reinvesting it in the park. -

..and with the ride side gone and out of the way, the water park can only grow now. CF will be able to concentrate on additions and improvements to the water park instead of trying to figure out ways to draw attendance to a failing dry park. -

Rip off? You may have missed the news. Geauga Lake, as an amusement park, was closed. It's just a water park in northern Ohio. They can't very well be open much earlier. -
I attended Fright Feast with a friend on the 13th and LOVED it. I will totally agree with you, the work they put into it was spectacular. They really put a lot of detail into the restaurant. I loved eating with a kind of disturbing funeral soundtrack playing in the restaurant...it really added to everything. The event was indeed well done and I hope it is brought back in 2008.

Haha, exactly my thoughts on Screamscape. I know more than half what what they say is complete BS (and if you post tons of stuff, some of it is bound to be true eventually)...I just like to amuse myself and check it out daily. It's good for a laugh. I get my news elsewhere. Although this does appear to be one of those "trumors" http://themeparkvillage.com/gallery/displa...&fullsize=1 CAUTION: Link will resize browser window.

Just making the ol' rounds on the Interwebz today, I couldn't resist looking at Screamscape. I am one of the many firm believers that Screamscape and its creator, Lance, are the epitome of jerks on the Internet, but I still have to check out the site for updates. Today, one of Screamscape's headlines was "Great America - New Name Confirmed and Top Spin now on site" (bold for emphasis). I *had* to check out the "news", considering it was Lance who last "confirmed" the Knotts Great America name. Low and behold, the first sentence of the news story confirmed my suspicions that nothing had been confirmed at all. The excerpt: (and mind you, this was **CONFIRMED** on the front page ) Ohhhh Screamscape. Always good for a chuckle. Even if this *is* true, which it could be...You don't say something is confirmed and in the same breath say "we believe".

Just a little full of yourself?
