Because they don't have the funds to build enough restrooms for that. Hahaha! Thanks for the laugh, Ryan!

Exactly. Besides trying to simply be safe, the company has to take measures to protect itself from lawsuits that could pop up from just about anything. It's a sad testament to the times we are living in when you have to be afraid of being sued of every little thing. Careful...That coffee might be hot.

The final version of the map is in color.

donnie, there was no need whatsoever to get an attitude with derek. He was pointed out (very kindly, I might add) that there have been changes to the 08 Haunt admission program already this year.
-
And can you tell me WHY he would go out of his way to Photoshop a 'fake' map with stuff we (mostly) already knew? Methinks you're headed the wrong way down a little river we call De Nile. Come opening day, I hope you'll be sending Lance an apology letter.

Guess they are not counting the 2005 winter fest shows with the large stage in the middle? Why would they? Winterfest '05 never happened.

Maybe...But no other chain prides itself on safety as much as Cedar Fair does.

It is amazing! (Kings Island countdown clock to opening day)
Reclaimer replied to Purplehaze's topic in Kings Island
There are many people that look forward to opening days of parks. I know a great deal of people that have countdowns going. There's no reason to tell someone to 'get out more' just because they're excited about the upcoming season. -
Ugh. That is unfortunate. Are they at least going to keep it as an upcharge for everyone else, I hope?

Sccoby Doo and the Haunted Castle opened in 2003, when the kid's area was still known as Hanna-Barbera Land. After the park rethemed the area to Nick Universe in 2006, Scooby and his castle were nudged off to be officially listed as a part of International Street. (Not that SDatHC has much to do with an international flavor, either) As of the writing of this post, however, Kings Island's site appears to be listing SDatHC as a part of Nick Universe (at least on the attraction's page): http://www.visitkingsisland.com/attraction...l.cfm?ai_id=144

"Confirmed" Information vs. Speculation

Only if the villan goes backwards There wont be no backwards racer in 2008 Ahhhhh! My eyes! My brain! Double-negative! Quick, get away while you still can! -
I highly doubt we'll see a 400-footer. Although stranger things have happened.

That sign actually said "Paramount Action Zone" which is more than likely why it was removed, and so quickly. It couldn't have taken much time at all to rip that sign out, which is probably why it was one of the first things to go. http://www.KICentral.com/photos/displayimage.php?pos=-1083

Save the Date: Kings Island's 2008 Opening Day!
Reclaimer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I'll be there. Either the 26th or 27th, though. Can't make it opening day. -
Stand Ups are a thing of the past. They were a fad that has come and gone. I'm not saying you'll never see a new stand up coaster in the future, but it would be a rarity. Dalefan, based what I've seen of you in this thread, I could crack a few Nascar jokes...But I know there are some civilized fans of the sport, as well, and I don't want to offend them.

The cost is very minimal. It was something in the neighborhood of $32/week for the dorms, which are the most expensive of the housing options. The quality of the housing, not the cost, is what makes me, and many others, cringe. Yet here I am, going back for another year.

Save the Date: Kings Island's 2008 Opening Day!
Reclaimer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Really? Obsession? The "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!" thing on Dragster is part of the theme of drag racing and such. Kings Island happens to open on a Sunday this year, rather than a Saturday, simply because a company decided to pony up the money to buy out the park on what would've been opening day. It's not an obsession with Sunday that changed KI's opening day...It's an obsession with money, and I think Cedar Fair can justify that obsession. I don't know the details on normal opening weekend numbers and what it costs to rent out the park, but the weather in April can be iffy, and if that weekend happens to be kinda crappy, attendance on a normal operating day, and thus income, would be down. Since a private company bought out the park that day, they are guaranteed to make a decent chunk of change, even if it rains all day. -

Paramount Park's Advertisements
Reclaimer replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Up until recently, you could still go to http://www1.paramountparks.com/index.cfm and see it. Like, I can remember as recently as a couple months ago going there and watching that commercial. "For more than 90 years, the movies of Paramount have made you laugh...Made you believe...Made you scream. Now those movies come to life beyond the big screen." ... "Paramount Parks: Where the best of Hollywood Entertainment is now playing!" I forget the rest.
