Remember, just because there is construction equipment in an area of the park does not mean that rollercoaster is coming. The rumors going around now are typical rumors that go around the park every year, particuarly with employees.
-
Somehow I really dont see anyone here complaining if a large B&M, Intamin, Morgan, Givonala etc. hyper coaster showed up at the park and was remotely by Beast.
-
Well considering you didnt work with the 2007 crew and didnt work for the park in 2007 and may not be aware of any policy changes or operational changes that occured and just viewed them from the standpoint of a frequent guest, I don't think your in a good position to judge. Im not saying you're completely wrong, but you worked in a different time, and did not work with this crew, just viewed the work from a guest standpoint with the only knowledge being how you did the job in 2001. Seatbelts were added this year, policies might have changed with dispatching, and remember that the state of ohio requires parks to obey all manufacturer reccomendations, maybe S&S or whoever claims responsibility for Vortex decided to change something that the park had to follow that could be affecting dispatch.

Let's see thats one example, hardly what i wouldnt call the theming being "gutted" and "torn apart" for Halloween Haunt. Tomb Raider's theming isn't going anywhere. Eros, ive heard some interesting things about what your recently mentioned. The next season should be a surprising one as we see what materializes and what becomes fact and whats left at a rumor.
-
Uh, incorrect sir. Where has theming from inside Tomb Raider been torn apart and used for HH? The Land Rover has been moved over to Area 51 but thats it. The theming currently sitting behind the ride is rolled out every off season. The only reason it is out now is because Tomb Raider went down for extensive repairs late in the regular season and it was announced that it would not re-open for the rest of the season. As to Tomb Raider's future all you have to do is look around this site and see the encrypted messages certain users have left here. Themind destroyed for Haunt? No. I think you have the old egyptian theming from the first fearfest(s) mistaken as Tomb Raiders internal theming.

Gator Head, sorry to hear about your bad experience and thak you so much for providing your story. Whether good or bad, its nice to hear what people experienced at the park in its last days. I think Mr. Couch had good intent with the park but the management company he hired we're very sleazy. They eventually went bankrupt and had to have rides re-possessed. They failed to pay money owed to Couch and failed to pay employee wages towards the end of their mangement and were eventually sued by Couch. From what I've heard some buyers have come and gone but Couch wanted to keep things local and only sell to local buyers who were few and far between. From what he told us, if a youth camp or his campground materializes I would like to see them keep the eagle or Raging Thunder. You mentioned the extremely long cycle on the Electric Rainbow (round up). Stricker's Grove purchased it and had it open this past summer. I rode it once and the cycle was very long. Too long to even be enjoyable. I felt very sick on it. That thing was intense.

Since the park's closing in 2002 the fate of LeSourdsville Lake/Americana amusement park has been in a limbo state. Potential buyers come and go. The current owner continues to expans his camper business. Rides are occasionaly sold. Etc. In 2006 it was announced by current owner Jerry Couch; that the park would "never exist as a traditonal amusement park again." Couch announced plans for a campground to be built on site the could include rides such as the legendary Screechin` Eagle rollercoaster and Raging Thunder log flume. The months came and went and soon 2007 arrived. Construction on the site could be seen but no official word came from the park owners. Occasional views of what the park looked like on the inside came from illegal guests who tresspassed with cameras, but too little was still known as to what fate may become of the park.....that was.....untill July of 2007. This past summer, I was invited (along with Boddah1994 and Dane) to enter the LeSourdsville Lake property, meet with owner Jerry Couch, and document the park in its current condition through photographs and video alike. So now I invite you to read the article which lends clues to the park's possible future, see a video of the park in its current situation, as well as photos you can't see anywhere else all over at www.queencitydisco.com. You can read the entire article here. A link to the full gallery and video are at the bottom of the article. What is your guys take on the park? Did anyone attend there when it was open? What do you think about it's future? All comments are welcome.

What would be wrong with a coaster being too close to The Beast? We've all seen how close Firehawk is to FoF right? Well, standing in line for Firehawk does not give away much of Flight of Fear's "secrets" since it is in a building. Probably not a fair comparison. Personally, I don't mind flying by the double helix at over 95 mph on a new hypercoaster. I will be too focused on the ride I am on to worry about The Beast. WHODEY buddy, what secrets? There are hardly any "secrets" left to The Beast. Especially after the many walk backs people have done. I can say for sure there have been at least 2 walk backs this year alone. One during coastercon 2007 and the second on the KIC day. But I think your right about flying by the helix at 95. That would be very cool. I know there is a ton of us who have seen The Beast in walkbacks or in other capacities (i.e. patroling the access roads). Maybe I should more obviously stated that I know what The Beast looks like and I will glady sacrifice seeing a little more of it for an awesome new ride. Yes, The Beast is great as you are flying through the woods, but it is also taking up some prime real estate and if we want more new coasters then small sacrfices may be made. I don't seem much complaining of seeing too much of The Beast from The Vortex so why do so with a new hypercoaster? Personally, I can't wait to see the new KI skyline with the hypercoaster! The "secrets" of The Beast are not what has kept the park from developing that "prime real estate". If you have been on those access roads like you claim then you will see just how varied the topography and terrain is back there. The main challenge with building a ride back there/expanding in that direction would lie withing how you design your attraction/development to work or manipulate that terrain then judge the cost.

Water cutbacks at Georgia Aquarium
Gordon Bombay replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Don't mussels or something like that have something to do with this? http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Drought_in_so...l_10272007.html -
Wrong. So whats right?

Possible another B&M stand up in the near future?
Gordon Bombay replied to Changmanky's topic in Rumors
And who are you to discredit his info? What do you have to show that he's only as credible as the random park employee. -
Possible another B&M stand up in the near future?

Where are you getting this information? -
Thats why I quoted Aves and not you.

Incorrect. No "motherboard" is broken. The sound system had complications earlier in the year as many of you saw when you rode the ride and only the lights were working. TR:TR is closed the rest of the season for other reasons. The theming was taken out of the back just like it is EVERY year, it was just taken out earlier this year because of recent mechanical issues that have provided a lengthy downtime. I'll let DeloreanRider handle any more further explanation if he so wishes.
-
Are you sure? The brakes failing and allowing the 2nd train to move forward and bump one in the station would be a pretty big deal. It would've caused quite a lot of stir about the same brakes which are used on countless other arrow rollercoasters and possibly changes that had to be made. I think you may be mistaken as to what happened.
-
Actually its not 'swampy'. The 'lake' that was under Beast was artificial. Vortex sits on solid ground, so does Beast. Adam Klocke, a former park employee, has some excellent photos of the ride that he took with permission and can atest to the fact that the land Vortex sits on is pretty firm. see the rest here.
-
As stated by Delorean Rider, the reason TT's loops are larger and the design is different is due to the fact that Arrow's cheif designer Ron Toomer, who designed all the mega loopers and hated rollercoasters himself, did not design it. Its also the only one that doesnt bang your head to death.
-
No, that was DeloreanRider, as i think hes the only one on this site who actually owns a Delorean, he must have just passed it along to Mr. Fudd.

Just because you've only waited 10 minutes for Top Gun does not mean it has low ridership. Face/Off usually has a longer line and wait time than Top Gun, but Top Gun will pump more people through in an hour than face off can. Tnd the lift hill slows down on purpose to prevent the train from having to stop due to the block system, it is not malfunctioning like you earlier claimed.

Please provide the definition of a "naturally" rough coaster. Such a thing does not exist naturally but depends on the engineering. Compare SOB to El Toro.
