just glad to be a spectator on this one. -
got to say my favorite haunt was actually none of them and the fact that the majority of the lines were in those attractions. Kings Island really does this service for those of us with little ones that never get to get our of Planet Snoopy because of said children. spend the evening at home, put 'em to bed, call the baby sitter arrive at the park around 9:30 and WALLLLAH!- 3 and a half ours to play in the "big kid" area. My wife hates scary things (when we parked she actually asked the attendant if it was possible to not be anywhere near the scary things- she's 33 mind you). driving away I had to ask "how old are you again????" If you want to go and not be in the Haunt piece- about the closest we saw any of them was two "Cast Members" came to one of the restrooms to get water. I do have to say we saw plenty of "zombies" in the lines. Scores of teenagers there with friends- NOT TALKING TO EACH OTHER- but had their heads dumped in their cell phones texting. I think the real Zombies were in the lines not the paid ones.

I am confused about todays operating hours...
Outdoor Man replied to taters22's topic in Kings Island
there is a private event there today until late afternoon. Was at a meeting there this week and asked when the park opened (was wanting to go this weekend) and they said that Haunt on saturday started at 7. Another Q. I've never been for Haunt- not really interseted in the haunt attractions- other than Planet Snoopy- is everything else open ride-wise? -
Mean Streak Catches Fire, Is Doused

someone correct me- but didn't the base of the first hill of The Beast catch fire..... like maybe 20+ years ago? -
Main Site Updates
Outdoor Man replied to Pagoda Gift Shop's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
agreed with Jasper. Dane and Ryan run it pretty tight when it comes to permissions for this site- and rightly so. There may be other mods with administrative permissions- but I personally don't see that list expanding out of the interest of protecting the sites legitimacy. -
They did a great job of retheming Planet Snoopy. The return of more kid-friendly music to that area was much appreciated as well... did't care for my 4-year old being exposed to a david lee roth led VanHalen just yet as they did in 2009. The nice thing about most parks is that they names stay the same. Great Pumpkin Coaster is one it's 4th name (maybe 5th)...

Responsibility in Information Posting
Outdoor Man replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
To Ryan (whom I've seen but never met) and to Dane (whom I've met a time or two)- this is one of the most intriguing and "functional" volunteer/free sites. You could go through and list any negatives you want to- but the positives will far outweigh them. I check into KI Central when I need a break from reality in the middle of the day. Kings Island is something that me and my family do for pure recreation and fun... we did it today. I've thoroughly enjoyed my interactions on this site- and appreciate the moderators providing this platform to talk and exchange opinions. Even those who I've had profound disagreements with- no harm no foul- it's just banter in the middle of the day. And Ryan, you can't be an idiot about it- so in the famous words of Mr. Dwight Schrute: "when I'm about to do something I think- 'would an idiot do this?' and if they would I do not do that thing." -
Democrat, Republican, Tea Party... doesn't matter- if you've got money to spend- the park will let you in. I'm sure if the International Club of Kings Island Haters wanted to rent the park out to themselves... so long as they paid by certified funds- Kings Island would be happy to rent to them. And if you hate the political banter, better buy the plugs now because this annual Kindergarten clash is going to hit it's stride for the next 60 days.

Too Loud at the Park?
Outdoor Man replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
speaking of which- I miss the old International Street music (I know its off topic). -
wouldn't affect us kids-area dwellers.

must say- Wally World. Yep Roy Wally World. Took my family there to have the hap-hap-happiest vacation. Wanted to have so much fun we'd have to have plastic surgery to wipe the (explicative) smiles off our faces. Only to find out after driving cross country from our hamlet in Chicago- it was closed! and the only thing to tell us this was a robotic Marty Moose. Worst park ever! After leaving to get some "sporting goods" we were able to ride a few rides with an escort in the park (who I had to "pop" with my Magnum PI). Then, before we were done- we were met by a swat team. The management was just rude to a family trying to have a good time.

makes you miss the days of being the flagship park. All record-breakers please proceed north to the favorite child.

Canada's Wonderland announces WindSeeker
Outdoor Man replied to Beast1979's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
(from Don / Kings Island)- "surprise..........." -
I'm going to go with- Starflyer in the Flight Commander spot.

As devils advocate. I could care less about 'changing' the skyline... Again. I would rather see double digit millions put into a ride like 'spiderman' or dueling dragons.
-
I wonder if taller means taller than Eiffel Tower. Drop Zone is taller than Diamondback. I personally expect them to announce the demise of Son of Beast with a huge coaster in its place. That would make Son of Beast a quick memory. Before I get blasted as a Son of Beast nay-sayer- we'll see tomorrow.
-
so, is that park going to make it? and what is ever going to become of the "wild ride" side? Its still very surreal to think that less than 10 years ago that whole complex was being developed as a mega-park.
-
being a metal structure, pieces can be replaced as needed. and it's not so tall that a crane couldn't make repairs to the secret board room at the top of the tower . I think the only thing that could compromise the structural integrity would be an unusually strong earthquake or tornado. In those cases it would be interesting to see if/how the park would rebuild.

big roller coaster fan- but there was a period of years (five maybe) where I wouldn't touch FOF because it would give me terrible headaches.

Your right, I guess I don't mind our generations fads that much. But coming from a teenager, what I HATE most about this generation is what kids do and say nowadays. Trying to be cool and/or funny by cussing, flipping the bird, replying to everything that goes wrong with, "that's retarded" or "that's gay". Ugh, I can't stand teenagers like this... I can't stand when people that I am with feel like they need to yell OMFG! (Using the real words) when we are on a ride. I feel embarrassed because it could be Adventure Express and Kids and Parents are behind us. Then they think I am an Idiot. I also hate it when in line for a ride and some parent will be cussing out their 10 or 11 year-old kid for one little unsignificant mistake they made. Sometimes I wanna say to the parent (but I don't), "Hey, your at an amusement park, just have fun! and don't ruin it for your kid by making them feel bad." I always feel really bad for these kids. As a parent with two young children, I am a REAL POOR SPORT when I hear, what I would call, intense recreational profanity. Especially in places like... oh, say- Planet Snoopy. Some people just can't have a sentence without saying "f'in" this, etc... it's almost like an adjective to them. As far as my desire for people to use proper English (and not sound stupid) I equate it to sports figures saying "y'know" ever sentence- sometimes twice a sentence. Next time you watch a sports interview count how many times the sports figure says that in a minute. Drives me nuts. But as far as profanity goes- I'm a poor sport and have no problems bringing it to a perpetrators attention, be it a parent or brood of teens.

Naked Roller Coaster Record Smashed
Outdoor Man replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You have to look at it from the "promoters" perspective. They just got to see 102 people nude.... and got them to pay for it. That's genius. Doing it when its dark- you can't see anything at night. Now ANYTIME I go to ride ANYTHING and I spot ANY kind of brown "stain"- i ain't ridin' in that seat. -
Naked Roller Coaster Record Smashed
Outdoor Man replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
didn't know such a record existed. I, for one, want to be the one in charge of looking up odd stats. makes you think twice when someone will mention that (name your coaster) almost made you poop your pants. -
If you could only stay in one section of KI for the day.
Outdoor Man replied to BeastForever's topic in KI Polls
no, i completely agree. but before Diamondback, The Beast was about the only show in rivertown once they neutered TRTR.
