At least it's not $4 a gallon ... yet :)
RailRider replied to Lake54321's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I use to drive over an hour to work, now 10 minutes. The news from the WallStreet Journal originaly was $5 by the 4th, hopefully the people smarter than I are wrong again. -
MYSTERY NO MORE--KI BUILDING HYPERCOASTER
RailRider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
4200 feet isnt bad at all, after all I believe AC at BGE is around 4600 feet. Remember the news broadcast refering to a coaster there and every one thought Griffon, hmm how about AC? -
Well if you move the site somewhere that is far enough away from all rides then will you be able to see or hear the fireworks in the park? As of right now they are pretty far away from the majority of the crowd watching on international street, I really dont see where else to move them, but would love to hear your idea.

Hey Nice Trip Report, dont worry plenty more fanboy days left. I for one like the Fireworks policy, because its a liability KI cannot take, the proximity of the launch area to The Beast is close and you dont want to be out in the woods speeding along as debri is falling from the sky. Hot ember in your eye, now that would ruin your day. I think they need more signage regarding the policy and possibly shut the line down early so they can cycle the riders through before the show and nobody is left in que waiting to cause a problem.

Still the 1st year was the best, I have been every year, and still the 1st is my favorite. Torture Tower was horrible capacity wise, but the actors were great in pinning you against the outside walls and the ride up was intense.

Busch Gardens Africa
RailRider replied to Coasterkidman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cost aside, go to BGA, truly a great park. I will say besides the great coasters, which I enjoy all of them, especially Montu and Sheikra, you must eat at the Crown Colony Reserve. Grab a window seat, enjoy a nice sit down meal and look out on the beatufil Serengetti, if at this point you dont think you are in the hear of Africa than I don't know what to say. Thats my one not to miss attration at the park -
Couldn't ask for a better looking Racer T

Six Flags Director Files Form 4
RailRider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And to reinstate what Interpreter said, neither are in a position to even *think* about buying a park or few. Cedar Fair can barely handle what they currently have. A-B is just trying maintain control of the company and are cutting back expenses HARDCORE.....including operations in the Parks. - Todd And once again did you read my post? I said a smaller park like, not that they were going to. Read a post before you reply... -
Why 5? I mean if we are going to say 5 why not 6? That means new train fab and probably a different track gauge. Seems like too much new technology to provide problems. With the nightmare that is SoB, I would bet more on something that is tried and tested...

The Beast is at its best on a cold Haloween Haunt night, with a chill in the air and nice thick fog filling the vallyes. Doesnt get in better on that ride.
-
^ I lurk every once in awhile. Yeah Im not sure a Diver out and back would work either, because the trains are so wide. Could be more of a Hyper/Mega with some Twister style elements. Something I could very easily see fitting in the area that has bee cleared so far. Should really be evident as the SplashDown trough developes. The Diver has a much wider gage compared to the Hyper/Mega.
-
Yeah you can do the same with flip flops, really its a great idea because some of the pavement will become very hot as it bakes in the sun and some of the treading on the stairs of the slides really hurts the feet if you have to wait in a long line. Biggest restriction going down the slides are rivets or any type of metal hardware on your bathing suit. I see a lot of people having to turn pockets inside out and stuff like that.
-
The clearing that has gone on is perfect for an out and back layout for a B&M Mega, the Diver is much more of a compact twister layout. Compare the layout of Apollos Chariot with that of Griffon and its pretty clear that a Mega would fit better. Unless its a Diver Out and Back???

You know 2 fences and multiple signs that warn not to enter, and yet some teenage moron enters the premise and dies because he is struck by a coaster. Maybe all rides should have barbed wire fences, trip flares, and guard towers. If all else fails unleash the guard dogs. Yet more than likely his family will be rewarded by their sons wrong doing and stupidity. I know these comments might be harsh and not PC, but honestly there aren't enough people that speak the truth. Whether its the news or politicians. We as a country have a screwed up society when it comes to rewarding morons and individuals that are in the wrong. More and more we live in a wellfare state. I will step down from my soapbox now.

Six Flags Director Files Form 4
RailRider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I was saying a smaller chain as in Cedar Fair or Bush to acquire a park or a few. Just an example. Seriously though most of the parks would be better to sell for the land and auction off the rides. There are only a few that investors would want to purchase. -
Six Flags Director Files Form 4
RailRider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wondered if anyone else saw that. With the Death at SFOG Six Flags stock is not gong anywhere but down anytime soon. If it stays at these prices for more han 30 days its of the exchange. That spells death in the corporate world. At that point I would imagine either foreign money or smaller chains like Cedar Fair and Busch would acquire parks. The days are numbered for Six Flags, hate to say I told you so... -
Camden is a nice little park. Love the BigDipper. Sad to see what happend to Demon errrr ThunderBolt Express
-
^ Correct. Also might be a possibility The Racer actually Races now? Nothing like some good high fivin on a racin coaster. Nothing better than when Gemini is running together and you can get some good high fives during the slow turns on the figure8
-
Honestly not surprised this is happening. Especially with it starting on the Rebel Yell. Last time I rode it in reverse my wife had the worst neck pain afterwards. Last seasson I rode Racer backwards and my brother complained of the same issue. I honestly think for saftey reassons and with the issues the park has had with SoB, this is no big surprise. Last thing you want is another coaster especially a wooden one causing injuries. The media will take that a run with it. Back to the Shadows

Skyscraper at Cedar Point
RailRider replied to sam2cpa's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The Skyscraper is a great ride. I have been on one twice. Very intense ride and the restraint system gives a very free and unrestricted feeling. Negative side, Im not a fan of Challanger Park because you have to exit the park to access the upcharge attractions. Personally think sprinkling them around the park is much better. How many times do you stop and watch SlingShot or Xtreme Skyflier? Would love to see a Skyscraper where the Eurobungee or the old Laser tag building stand. Although I would still like to see a Jump2 sitting on the Eurobungee pad... -
Bubba Gump's is the top of my list. Nothing like grabbing some good seafood and then having an adult beverage at Lt. Dans. I love to stop by on a hot day and have a few drinks with some friends and cool off.
