  1. Usually design of a new attraction depending on scale is somewhere between 24 to 36 months. For example the design stages of Milennium Force didn't start until after the completion of Mantis, roughly from start of the design process to opening of the ride was right around 36 months. The 09 ride is stricktly a Cedar Fair project and has nothing to do with Paramount.
  2. That is a rather nice way to market the press release. I think KI marketing has done a great job so far on this ride and the marketing bits and pieces that have been leaked out. Much more buzz surrounding this than any other coaster or project in recent history.
  3. Love the pics and the fact that even with hight gas prices we still get aerial pictures of KI and the Batavia plant. Thanks for the dedication
  4. Im going to go to 1972 since the press release is in 08, I guess that means it here then or in the now of 2008, not when the ride opens in 09.
  5. 36 Years in the making. 2009 - 36 = 1973
  6. Does everything have to be a joke? Whats wrong with a joke now and then. There aren't any pictures yet so how else does the topic keep going?
  7. Grayish White, almost sounds like Primer. Primer : The Ride Progress? We dont need no stinking progress...
  8. McDonalds : The Ride Hey i work at McDonalds okay. and I frequent McDonalds quite often...
  9. Dark Red, good color choice... Send in the Cranes
  10. Sounds like a great time. Will be checking my calander to see if possible for the family to attend
  11. I had a similar experience with that on Grizzly at KD. Lots of lap bar play + loose seat belt = massive airtime especially on the station return
  12. Well T. Boone Pickens is declaring $300 oil in 10 years if nothing is done. I know he is pushing his wind project, but just seems like he has to have an agenda. Ive seen national adds and everything for his plan. He is a business man and I cant believe he is just trying to get support behind his wind project.
  13. On a seperate note, I almost fell out of flight commander. I was just over the height limit and a scrawny kid. When we rolled the plane my legs came free and where hanging over my head. Was not a cool experience. Very happy the day they tore it down.
  14. No idea where you got your facts from, but you might want to check them. The Cyclone was in opperaton from 1927 to 1946, almost 20 years. It also gave over 5 million rides and on opening day drew an estimated 75,000 to the park... Failure??? I think not. Actually some of the steel and wood from the Cyclone still exist as part of the Comet at Great Escpae. Check your facts... sorry about the facts but the nurse was at the station for when people fainted (wich happened often due to the extreme g's) but in my eyes it was a failure there where several events where a person died. I know these facts are right because I just read it in a book. Once again check your facts. On the Triplets of terro there were on 2 deaths, one was on the Crystal Beach Cyclone in 1938 because of a failed lap bar restraint. Honestly I dont think you can call the ride a failure because of one death. Not to mention it opperated for 20 years giving 5 million rides.
  15. Given FoF is a good ride with the otsrs gone, was awful prior to the new restraint system, but nowhere is it the worlds best indoor. Have you been on Rock n Roller coaster, the Mummy wich is truly an awesome indoor coaster or how about Chaos that use to opperate at the former Opryland Amusement Park. Personally all better than FoF. I will agree SoB did delivery what it promissed, except the structure didn't deliver nor did the company designing or building deliver. Hence the issues today. I still love Sonny. I assume you mean the B&M Inverts, well Great America got theirs in 93 and Carowinds got theirs in 99. Leaving Kings Dominion, Wonderland and Kings Island without B&M Inverts, nor were they built that close together. So KI was in the majority by not getting a B&M invert and was actually suppossed to get Stealth back in the day, funny now they have Firehawk, but thats another topic another day.
  16. Great TR. Love the air show, last time I was there was in 2001 or 2002. Extremely hot that day and we were right on the flight line. When the Golden Knights did their jump and one of the divers did the cutaway and pulled his reserve, I had to jump out of my seat because he cutaway parachute fell right over my chair. That thing was coming down with some force too. He was nice enough to come over, recover his chute and sign an autograph. When they did the Tora Tora Tora, the wall of Fire from the bomber was so insanely hot. Thats one time I recomend getting up from your seat and walking away from the front row. So hot. All in all a great time though...

  18. Another topic got me thinking about the different coasters and rides that have come and gone in the amusement industry over the years and how some have been completely insane. The idea of this topic is to post what you think is the most completely insane ride you have either seen, been on, or heard about. Post a picture with it if you can... The Crystal Beach Cyclone designed by Harry Traver holds a place in my heart. I think it is a work of art, demented and twisted, but a work of art. The track and structure are just an amazing thing to behold, very little straight track and the ride was over in roughly 45 seconds. The design elements of the Cyclone have been translated to some of todays new generation Woodies, just in a much safer way. Enjoy the pics, Any wonder why there was a nurse on station at the exit of the ride? Rumor has she was part of the marketing for the ride. Lets see your choices now.
  19. Thank you Mr. Traver, truly a work of beauty. The CB Cyclone
  20. Aren't Nick Hotels, just Holiday Inns with rooms branded to Nick? Hmm I think I will pass on making the trip to Dubai. Lots of construction, desert, oppresive human rights issues, you know its kinda like Vegas, just no all you can eat prime rib buffet and a human rights record China would be proud of...
  21. Unless the staff manning said locker is also helping themself to said contents. Then are they really worth the $7? Im not acussing anybody, just asking some questions. Are the lockers checked for contents at the end of the day and all unclaimed contents removed? Who holds the master key to the lockers? Just curious.
  22. I have a very similar mind set as Interp. Memories are memories, but I would take my $200 and visit Crystal Beach to ride Harry Travers Crystal Beach Cyclone. I personaly think one of the most insane looking layouts ever created. I would also like to experience Cedar Point when the Breakers orginally opened, how neat would that be?
