Disneyland's Indiana Jones New Effect!
RailRider replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Thanks for the share. I myself fell in love with the Indy ride when I rode it. One of my favorite rides in all of Disney and I like their motion rover based rides (Indy, Dinosaur) much better than something like Spiderman. Also the texture mapping is very neat, the new castle show before Wishes is amazing. I saw the original when it was first introduced with guest pictures but the new version is much better and is very unique. -
Send in the crane, its on site and time to go vertical. While not as big as Clifford it will do.

Influential announcement, technology, industry changer? No. I would call something like the Matterhorn one of the most influential rides ever. Why you might ask? Because it was the first tubular steel continuous circuit coaster ever build. Influential game changer without a doubt. Still my favorite ride with a Yeti...

Beat me to it... Send in the cranses

All these pictures of Trailers makes me think of my home away from home during the Diamondback construction...

Rather than jump in last night I wanted to digest what I saw regarding Banshee. I am amazed at how well KI executed the teaser campaign, created a rock concert like announcement event, and delivered with a very impressive ride like Banshee. Well done and I am still in some what awe in how amazing the build up was, the respect shown to this site, and the amount of fun and enthusiasm they had during the process. On to Banshee... Banshee This addition is amazing and I'm not even talking about the ride experience. This ride will drastically change the Action Zone. The paint scheme screams notice me, the ride roars like a Banshee, and the new Entry Plaza and Midway elements are going to be a spectacle for non riders. Son of Beast seemed almost hidden in the Action Zone, it had no real presence or interaction with the midway, but seemed somewhat tucked away in the corner of the Action Zone. There was a big lift hill and that was it. Banshee screams at guests to ride it. Diving drop towards the midway, dive loop at the entry plaza and then vertical loop encircling the lift. Awesome Eye Candy. The ride itself looks very nice. I think the pacing is what will make this ride, like The Beast it will continue to pick up speed as the ride goes on. Which should make for an intense ride. The pacing of the inversions and diversity of inversions is great. The fact it uses a Dive Loop instead of Immelman is a bonus in my book as is the 2nd Vertical Loop (it may be the most forceful element at 60+ miles per hour). The size of the inversions is going to be staggering. I picture the lift hill loop being as awe inspiring as that of Kumba's. Also the Batwing has a different setup than most. Montu enters and exits the same direction and most Batwings are a combination half corckscrew half loop, while Banshee enters with a Dive Loop followed by an Immelman and heads off in a new direction right in to the 2nd Vertical Loop. The forces through this inversion combination should be great. Last thought on the layout is the Carousel at the end. Coming out of the InLine Twist and then entering the Carousel at the top and picking up speed as it traverses the element. Rather than burning speed off before the brake run Banshee should pick up speed in to the break. Think if Diamondback entered its Carousel at the top rather than at the bottom, more force. Overall Banshee is going to be a signature addition to park, appeal to the masses, and may be one of the if not best Inverts B&M has ever done. Send in the Cranes

Have you all not learned anything from the Great Admiral Akbar over the course of all the diversions?

How is the testing going? Looking forward to watching the stream

I was about to post the final countdown but Jumped the Shark instead.

I know everyone is talking coasters, but Flight Commander at KI was horrible and the restraints did not hold me in that well. I will never forget turning upside down and my legs were hanging over my head completely out of the leg restraints. The OTSR is the only thing that saved me.

Still recovering from our 2nd Disney World trip in a year. This better not become a habit.
-
Still waiting for a Giant Wheel at KI. Maybe in the new Action Zone or in Coney Mall
-
One that holds a good place for me is Grizzly back a few years ago at KD.
-
I look at this week with the perspective of one much wiser than I. Thank you admiral!
-
It could even use some new paint.
-
Just rename Flight Deck to The Bat. Much better name and logo.
-
And when I was there the Roller Coaster was $25 a ride. Togo or not Togo...

Drachen Fire. While horribly painful it holds a found memory in my heart. 12 marathon rides and I thought I had a concussion afterwards.

Or The Banshee The Ride TB:TR
-
Sounds like a wake or funeral style announcement to me. SoB will be laid to rest that evening and Banshee will be unveiled as the death bringer that removed SoB from the park. Just some thoughts.
-
A few thoughts. After the announcement can Terpy have his promotional tombstone or will this be part of the theme like haunted mansion? Secondly the batwing style element reminds me of an Aviation maneuver called the Cuban Eight or Bent Cuban Eight. This is something B&M has referenced for a long time as inspiration for some of their elements, but I don't think they have installed one that is more true to the aviation version. Nor as far as I know has it ever been executed in an inverted coaster. Final thought, notice some of the unique footers throughout the course, the doubles and triangular footings. These are more than likely for an element, banking change or direction change to take the shifting load. The blueprints don't provide enough detail yet.

I like this topic. A unique question for sure. Best Sounding Ride - staying within KI I love the sound of The Beasts second lift hill. Outside of KI is Its a Small World at Disneyland Best Smelling Ride - within KI I love the smell of The Beasts tunnels on a cool night, especially during Haunt. Or the double helix tunnel on a hot summer day (Sauna). Outside of KI as mentioned earlier the smells on Soarin are great...

If only there were a show building like Verbolten. Send in the cranes...

Here is the original post, that I do not see edited like you claim. Post count does count for something around here, it is your track record for which your knowledge and contribution can be ascertained. When claiming that one of the most knowledgeable and well respected members of this board is wrong, you need to back it up because your lack of history grants little credibility. So yes post count and length of membership do count and mater. My advice for all less seasoned members, wade in from the shallow end, listen to what is being said (there is great knowledge and experience here), and don't try and make a name for yourself with your first post. Its a process and to earn respect you must give respect.

Coming from the person with 12 posts. Do some history research and you will see that a looping wooden coaster is nothing new nor was SoB anywhere near the first.
