No Terpy I believe I was around 8 years old, Im thinking 90 or 91 was the year. Screamin Demon not to be confussed with Screamin Delta Demon. In latter years Screamin Demon would become lovingly known as "Rust:The Ride" errrr Thunderbolt Express, which is when I experienced it. Steel Inverters, I remember my first ride on Raptor opening seasson after a 4 hour wait and just thinking, Wow!!! Most unique coaster experience I had ever had, was unlike anything I had ever been on.

Thats funny Terpy my first looping coaster was the Wabash Cannonball as well. I remember I had to watch my Dad ride it 2 summers before I was finally tall enough to ride. I was so excited and scared at the same time to finally ride. Just one more reasson I hated seeing that park go away, too many good memories.

Mystery Construction at Cedar Point
RailRider replied to Go Browns's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cedar Point isn't going to start adding fill anytime soon. Eventually the employee housing on the point will be torn down and all employees that live at the point will be in the dorms at the beginning of the causway. Also CP has plenty of parking lot in the front of the park they can expand in to, which are all part of the master plan. There is even planning for the future to only have resort guests park on the point and everyone else parks off site. There would then be light rail and ferry boats to transport guests to the park, so the park can spread in to the entire parking lot, ala Magic Kingdom. These are contingency plans that are more of a what if scenario and by no means set in stone or happening with in the next few years. CP has plenty of room before anything crazy like this happens. Remember nobody thought there was room for Millie and we see how well that went. -
Like mentioned earlier, the water rides usually dont open till later in the seasson, but if you find the Smokey Mountain Slidewinder open you must ride. Excelent and very unique water ride. Daredevil Falls is great also. Thunderhead is great in the back and Tennesse Tornado is the best Arrow Multi Looper I have ever been on. Terpy is right, don't miss Blazing Fury... Fire in the Hole!!! Excelent ride. The shows are some of the best around and check out Craftmen's Valley. Great demonstrations and gifts to buy. Have fun.

Great idea RailRider. Eating kielbasa and sauerkraut and listening to "Roll out the Barrel" by a live polka band sounds like winner. The Festhaus would then be a great place to take an afternoon break. Bring back the Bavarian Beetle!! Does a Tilt-a-Whirl ride in the park sound like a thought? Love the idea of some classic flats returning to the park. Especially in the Coney Mall section. Also a must would be full light packages, could you imagine how that midway could look in the evenings when the lights come on? Absolutely amazing. Some of the rides I would like to see show up, just a sampling of classics and some new flats that could be placed throughout Coney Mall and even Oktoberfest. Tilt-a-Whirl, Tea Cups, Giant Wheel, Jump, Aviator/Barnstormer, Chaos, Flying Scooters, Enterprise, Breakdance and a Magic Carpet/Rainbow.

^ I agree with that, so nice to see the stained glass window again. I just have really high hopes for the building and hope it keeps going in the right direction.

Well I think this is a great idea and I like I stated when this idea was first thrown around I hope there is a meet the members section or something along those lines that we get to find out a little more about different members of the site. Keep up the great work. -
Like I said in the shows thread, I just wish the Festhaus could be more like the one at BGW. Having a traditional German Polka band with dancers performing would realy bring life to the building. I would also like to see some tlc shown to the building and just freshen its apperance up so its not so dark.

Mystery Construction at Cedar Point

Don't count on it, GG rides are mantinence headaches, and we all know how much CF loves to Maintian woodies. But CGA has a GCII woodie planned (whether it's built or not) and then there is Prowler at Worlds of Fun.... First I think you have missed a few things. In the very first post of this topic Go Browns mentioned a woodie from either CCI or GCII. Hence my refrence to S&S or Gravity Group seeing as CCI went under and the main folks can now be found at either S&S Ms. Dinn Larick herself, and GG was started by former engineers and designers of CCI, true creative geniuses there. GG has built some amzing rides in their short time and I wouldn't call their coasters maintence headaches at all, nor do I think any of their coasters are considered unreliable. Have you been on Hades or Ravine Flyer II? Wow, what rides and I dont think Voyage is their best creation. Regarding GCII there is definately a strong possibility of that happening at CP, seing as it looks like CF had a 3 coaster deal, with the two you mentioned and Renegade at ValleyFair. So with the possible sale of CGA, CP could very easily see the planned GCII end up in the park by default. Also for somewhere between 6 to 10 million CP could have another quality coaster that fits a missing gap in the park. Where is PKIPunk when you need him? Finally about CP mainting woodies, have you been on Blue Streak lately? It runs great and is well maintained. Mean Streak is a different animal and its cousin out in Texas has very similar issues as well as many coasters built by Dinn Corp. Just look at the list and how many have been removed, had serious retracking done, or are just plain rough. -

I would imagine they will hydroseed the area. Very cost effective and great results. -
Well before they add any new areas I would like to see Coney Mall and Oktoberfest revitalized. Bring back the nostalgia and put in some new flats where the laser tag dome stands and the Flight Commander pad sits.

Yes like I said the train is on the final bunny hop before the 2nd helix and in the background of the picture is the 2nd hill. The lift hill is behind the camera and the 3rd hill is out of frame past the top left corner. I think you need to orient yourself and the picture will make more sense to you. Yes I am silly, but not wrong -

Thats because the hill you see in the background is not the first bunny hop but is actually the second hill. -
Ahhh geeeesh, can we also talk footings vs footers while we are at it?

Mystery Construction at Cedar Point
RailRider replied to Go Browns's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Ahhh yes let the speculation begin. Regarding a ground hugging woodie, I think that would be a great fit and another great possibility. GCII would be the front runner in my book, dont expect anything from CCI seeing as they dont exist, and I doubt S&S would be in the running, but Gravity Group might which is no bad thing. Like some have rumored CP might remove Snake River Falls and however unlikely that might be, I could see them keeping the station and installing a Mack Super Splash or I would love to see something like Vliegende Hollander be installed and it could use the Paddle Wheel Excursion waterways for the various splash downs. Finaly the rumor that CP might remove CCMR, I would call false. CP and Kinzel will do what is necessary and within reasson to keep the coaster count record at CP so removing coasters has been something they have shyed away from. Also CCMR got an updated ride control system the same year MF was built and its a great intermediate coasters for all the kiddies moving up from Jr Gemini. -
I am a strong proponent of the Vekoma and Arrow brace positions. On out-and-back style coasters I am all for hands up fun, but on twisters like Texas Giant I must hold on for dear life to try to lessen the beating, same goes for SoB.

Hard Rock Park SOLD!
RailRider replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Parks Name Not Yet Settled. The Sun News Just my observations, they have 2 months to market and promote the park like crazy, they need to start yesterday. At this point I would keep the name and move on. Yes there is a lot of negative publicity about HRP, but it has name recognition and it would be an extremely up hill battle with zero name recognition to attract guests in 2 months. If they can do a media blitz regarding the park, partner with local resorts and shows like Dixie Stampede, Carolina Opry, and Alabama Theater to offer discounts and maybe buy an adult ticket and get a kids ticket free to HRP. They can pull off the Myrtle Beach regulars more than the original HRP. Also I dont care what anyone says, the location is awful. Fantasy Harbor was a complete failure and a lot of that had to do with location. Medieval Times is the only thing that survived out there and they have been looking to move for a few years. -

Seriously that is funny. My uncle use to order frequently from Batesville, the catalogs are just as amusing, just slightly more grim. -
