Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
RailRider replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Nope not the lift crown. The lift crown is still sitting on a flatbed around the splashdown area on the path by the theater. The crown cannot go up until the have next support erected which will hold the crown and the majority of the first drop. -

I have seen the lift hill crown on a flatbed around the splash down on the webcam also. -
Enjoying the trip report so far. Glad to see you finally got to experience IOA and Universal. I would wait on spending a full day at IOA until after they have Harry Potter finished, the park is truly amazing though. Any chance you got to experience Cat in the Hat while at IOA, great dark ride. Revenge of the Mummy is one of my favorite coasters. The part when the room catches on fire is insane. Great coaster experience. Looking forward to next instalment. Keep up the good work.

Well they still need to put up the first drop support before they can crown the lift. From the renderings the support that goes in the midway is what will hold the lift crown and a good portion of the first drop. This is going to be one steep drop... There is also a Blog update about the ACE event over the weekend, I wonder if the buffet was large enough to meet ACE standards -
TN: Bible Park, Now What?

I still find the concept amussing. Although Im sure if it ever gets off the ground it wont last. Although hard to theme rides after. Heres one of my thoughts about possible ride concepts. Cain and Abel -- Dueling coaster, unfortuantely the Abel side was never completed so riders are making a great sacrafice when ridding. -

The TTD RollBack is quite an experience. Like stated around here and other sites, ride it on a cool morning right at opening for your best chances. Good luck on your quest, it will happen. -
weight issues and rides
RailRider replied to Mr. Coastermania's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
As mentioned earlier, but to add my own. All depends on body proportion. Thunder thighs will hurt you more than a beer gut on rides like MF, TTD, and soon to open DB. A beer gut will hurt you on rides like Raptor, WT, and Mavrick. Heres some perspective. Im 5'7" and last year weight 260lbs. More of a beer gut than anything, no problems with any rides at CP, KI or BGE. This year Im down to 240lbs and riding was even better. -
Cedar Fair looking to layoff spongebob and friends

The retheme of NU would be very simple for the most part. New signs and new paint. Very few of the rides are that highly themed. When they introduced NU it was nothing more than a Disko, a few additional carnival rides, the removal of shade, and lots of concrete. I honestly was never that impressed with NU and honestly wouldnt mind seeing it disappear. Also its a great way for CF to save some money. Who thinks Kinzel might push this quicker seeing as what happend over at Mall of America? Now bring back the BusyTown Gril -

Well the lift isnt even topped yet and it will need to drop very drastically to connect with the section of the drop that is already installed. I have no fear in the 74 degree angle. We are talking massive lift hill in limited space, thats why they used 40 degrees up and 74 down. -
Medusa @ SFGA to be redisgned.
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes already posted here Realy with as cash strapped as they are its not a bad idea to give some of their attractions a face lift like this, but I would still imagine this is pretty costly. Just wonder if they will get their bang for their buck? -

The picture of the boom lift next to those 2 massive supports is insane. Really puts in to perspective how large DB is going to be. -
Medusa at SFGA will become the next SIX coaster to get the X2 treatment. So maybe that wasn't the Spider of Doom MarketWatch International Biz Times

It is very large, honestly in cam the top is out of frame. -
^ Just curious did you see any animals or eat at the Crown Colony while there?
-
^ But Cedar Point still hasn't put the OTSR on Top Thrill Dragster that acompany Kingda Ka and they have been adding new g filled coasters like Renegade, the upcoming Prowler and if CGA's is ever started. The reasson you dont see something like El Toro or TExpress has nothing to do with the coaster, but more the builder. Cedar Fair has had some issues with Intamin and they are moving towards other builders right now.

Hey thats our motto for our annual fireworks extravaganza. After all the 4th would be no fun if you lost a finger or an eye. Seriously though and business wheter amusement or not should have safety of employees and their guests as their #1 priority. If not there are plenty of lawyers that will make it their business to put said company out of business.

Wow you are amazing at interpreting other peoples post. The general public has no clue about xflight/Firehawk. To ki guests it is brand new and a major attraction. So db is the 2nd major attraction for cf, besides the new entertainment and other various improvements they have made. You might want to let your friends interperate their own posts from know on. *posted from my blackberry
