The support structure seems to be there still but the rest of the ride is gone, as is the sign for it.

I was at Coney for a while on Friday for my brother-in-law's company picnic, and noticed that the Roundup is gone. What happened to it? That was one of my favorite rides at Coney.

Question for those who have been there... How easy is it to do BGW in a day, preferably without springing for Quick Queue Unlimited? I'm going to be hitting Carowinds and KD next month and am thinking of dropping the second full day at KD in favor of a trip to BGW instead, but don't want to go only to end up not being able to ride much due to long lines (and QQU is an extra $55). They have a deal on their site now where you can get admission, all-day drinks and all-day dining for $99 + tax as well, which makes it even more tempting.

It is, per the park's website. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/play/events/grand-carnivale

I've been spending a ton of time in Planet Snoopy the past couple of years due to having two young nieces (ages 1 and 3). While I do think it's due for an overhaul, the existing rides are all still incredibly popular. There's also not a whole lot of room for something new unless they start creeping into the big empty space by the Snack Shack and the petting zoo. I also don't see the name changing from Planet Snoopy to Camp Snoopy because there's no reason to do so.

Holiday World 2019

As far as Mammoth and Wildebeest go, I count water coasters separately from regular coasters. I believe I've been on 3 or 4 of them now (both of the ones at HW, plus the one at The Beach in Mason and I believe the one at Kentucky Kingdom as well) -
Hard to explain without getting too technical, but basically they figured out how to feed all of that information into the URL to make it display whatever they want.

Here's a video of Kings Dominion's fountain from a few weeks ago. I imagine we'll eventually be seeing something similar.

Found this on YouTube...

Visited the park for a while before work this morning. Didn't get a chance to ride Antique Autos or any coasters but got in some rides with my older niece. It was particularly nice to see that the carousel organ was working again - far better than it has the past few years it seems. Hopefully it stays working this time.

Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA will finally be reopening this year after being closed the past two seasons (and of course this would happen when I'm not going to PA for the first time in 3 or 4 years). They don't seem to have an opening date set yet (their site just says "Opening Summer 2019"), but it's good to see that they're going to be open again. I was planning to make a trip to Lakemont in 2017 but ended up at DelGrosso's instead (also in the Altoona area) since they were closed that year.

Carowinds Questions

On the subject of Culver's, there's one of those about 10 minutes from KI as well for those who may not know. https://www.culvers.com/restaurants/mason. -
Great to see the park paying attention to small things like that. A perfect way to help celebrate the ride's 40th anniversary.

Coasterstock 2019 - May 17th & 18th
Oldiesmann replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Officially put in my request off for Coasterstock today Also put in my request for vacation in July. Need to get hotels booked and decide whether I'm going to try to squeeze anything in on my last day in VA. May either poke around Williamsburg for a bit or stop in at Funland of Fredericksburg to snag another coaster credit. -
Nope. It was for a few safety issues: 1. Accidentally let a guest who was too short ride Beastie. This was back before they had the height check station in the kids' area (only at the front of the park or at Guest Services) and the same year that the minimum height on Beastie had changed to 40 inches from 36 inches. On top of all that, we were short handed so we didn't have anyone to work greeter, which left height check responsibilities mainly to whoever was working load side in the station. For safety reasons, you couldn't let the incoming train pass you either, so it was kind of hectic. 2. Let 4 people (dad and three kids) ride in a helicopter on what was then Yogi's Skytours (now Woodstock Whirlybirds) 3. Accidentally left an exit gate unlatched (it was closed, just not latched) at the umbrella ride (now Peanuts Offroad Rally, though it was in a different location at the time)

I worked at KI in the East Pie section of what was then Hanna-Barbera Land (in its last season as it turned out) for a few months in 2005 (got fired - won't get into that here). One hot summer morning I was working Beastie and wasn't feeling great, but didn't feel so bad that I felt I needed to go home. I bent over to check a guest's lapbar and puked all over the guest. I felt horrible and went to go clean up, leaving my poor coworkers to deal with the mess. Needless to say I did get sent home.

GLOCKENSPIEL TO RETURN FOR Kings Island’S 2019 SEASON
Oldiesmann replied to nhimes90's topic in Kings Island
I'm glad to see this returning as well. Now if we could only get some decent German food to go in there instead of pizza, burgers and Chinese food. -
I'm excited for this. Having visited Cedar Point annually for the past 3+ years, I've always been impressed by the late-night activities they've had. I do realize that CP is a destination/resort park more than just a seasonal one, but still, it's fun to see the parks doing things that both cater to all guests regardless of thrill level and encourage people to stay at the parks later. I typically visit KI with my sister and nieces, and this will be something else that they can enjoy, especially the younger one who hasn't hit the 36" mark yet.

I'm not a smoker and can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke, but I honestly don't have much of an opinion on this. Obviously the powers that be at Disney seem to think this is a good idea. I am however laughing at some of the comments on the various FB posts about this - people claiming they're never coming to Disney again simply because they can't smoke inside the park, etc.

I see some of the boards in the "Kings Island Community" category got moved around. Was this intentional?
